Pretty cool that the forum is that big!
-----
Danish - What make and model? Kinda' reminds me of a Gibson with single pickups laid out like a Stratocaster.

I think after half-practicing with acoustic for years and playing with various electric models I've finally decided on a new electric guitar that I want - A Baja Telecaster. I'll wait until I find one used in a local shop though.
-----
Up and at 'em today at 6:00AM. I'll be studying until 10PM tonight, then two final exams tomorrow morning.

It is a Pensa MK2 - "MK" for Mark Knophler, they make/made custom guitars for him. I'd like to pick one up some day, but they're $5-6k.

I need to pick up a Strat of some sort, my current electric doesn't have a "bluesy" voice to it. Also will need a new amp down the road, a tube variety. Not sure where the money is going to come from with another kid, but we'll see.

Cool.
Too bad around 600 of them are either incarcerated nummnuts or suspicious 0-post registrants.

Well, I figured there was a certain number of those. But, the bottom line is the counter ticked to 14K anyway.

Goodluck studying Nick.

Nick, if you like Telecasters, check out ThreeChordGuitar.com, the guy there has quite a few, goes through demos, etc. Nice material on his site for lessons as well.

That's a sweet looking ax Danish.

I always wanted to play, started to once years ago, but didn't make it to far. I never liked my guitar honest. It was a frustrating accoustic, I had difficult time with the action on it, to stiff.

Fourteen hours of review in today. I'm calling it quits. Gonna' hit the hay around 10PM, get up at 3AM to review some more, and then exams at 8AM and 1PM. Data Structures & Algorithms and Digital Design will be over (for better or worse) in less than 24 hours.
-----
Here is the guitar I'd like to get...
Fender Baja Tele' (I also like the characteristics of the Hot Rod Deluxe Amp)

EDIT: A GREAT VIDEO ON YOUTUBE FEATURING BOTH!

Some acoustics are a little tougher - the strings are obviously stiffer and a high action makes it tough to play.

My first guitar was (still have it) a classical, the nylon strings and wider neck make it slightly easier to handle. I've only had one steel string acoustic, it was a high end Taylor and was really a pleasure to play.

Electrics are pretty easy to play, but they do tend to magnify mistakes somewhat. I don't see myself buying another acoustic...

Not had much chance to check in the past few days. My mother is back in hospital and will more than likely be there over Christmas - she's quite frail now and not eating much so we're all worried for her. That said, she's in good spirits and isvery chatty.

Other than that, not much going on. We put up our tree last night - it's all we had time for. The rest of our decorations will go up in the next few days. I'll head home early later I reckon to do outside. I don't go nuts at all - I just light up a few trees in the front garden. It's walled so only we get to see but that's all that matters I suppose.

Cool guitars, though I'm more of a keyboard/synth guy.

Looks like I reached 9,000 posts. Took over 9 years. While Doug is coming up on 20K soon. Fingers getting tired yet?

Note to self: wait until forum reaches 14,700 members before purging the dungeon.

I always thought if I tried again, I'd try an electric. Was even looking at one time, but never acted.

Yes, 20K posts soon. Better wait to 14800.

Or just leave them in there so we get to 15000 quicker. Oh no, does that mean spammers have a benefit to us? The universe is going to collapse now!

Hey look on the positives! at least you have 13k+ really solid members. That's pretty special in it's own right! Think I'm getting closer and closer to the 2k mark. Proud of that!

I'll keep your mom in my thoughts Vincent. Hopefully she can keep those spirits up and still enjoy Christmas even if in hospital.

Christmas escaped at my house yesterday too. Had the exterior lights up for a couple weeks but yesterday Carolyn and I went and got a tree, set it up and put some of my decorations out.

My manual door lock on the garage door gave up yesterday as well so while at Home Depot I ended up picking up a garage door opener. Be nice not having to get out of the car in the winter anymore

Got this one:

Had a very interesting scene unfold around our apt this morning. About 4 cop cars zoomed down our street, including a K9 unit. They stopped about one car to a block and got out and started looking around. I just stayed in and watched. It was cold last night and we had some very light snow the previous day and I was planning to put down some de-icer this morning. I decided against it and figured whatever I lay down last night was enough.

There were still there on my way to work. Not sure what was going on, but very strange. Like they were looking for somebody. Maybe a B/E?

So we are scheduled for our first real snow tonight. I hope it will hold off until I get home. If it starts to come down in the afternoon, I'm am just going home.

Vincent - Sorry to hear about your Mom.

My Dad's coming over to give me a hand... he's done a few so I'm hoping the experience helps speed things along a bit. Plus I'm just going to temporarily mount an extension cord up to the ceiling until it warms up a bit in spring/I buy some lights which also require some wiring.

By far, the two most difficult exams I've ever taken - back to back. I think I can taste the type of shoe my professors were wearing today. Last year's exams (provided as practice) weren't even in the same league as these two.

I might be at the mercy of the scale in Data Structures & Algorithms. Despite putting many sleepless nights into coding, I just didn't have enough hours in my day to do everything at 100% for that class. I should find out in a day or two where I fell in the C range for that course. I need a solid C to avoid retaking the equivalent next spring. Oddly enough, thats the only class I'm taking that can be retaken in the spring without putting myself behind time wise. I'm not superstitious, but I might go buy some rabbit feet and horseshoes.

Digital Design final was also brutal - the volume of problems was just insane. I kept up with the reading throughout the semester, and I think it saved my @$$, as some of the devices we designed involved obscure/specialized devices that many people brushed over in the text or skipped all together.

Gearing up for my last two finals on Wednesday.

Vincent, I'm very sorry to hear about your mom.

This one I've seen before, performed (a bit better) by another group. But it's still great.

Ordered a couple more Christmas gifts... I think I have 3 left to get. Newegg has those battery cases on sale again today for 19.99 so I ordered one for me and my brother in law. Not my favorite battery case but it'll work for now.

Hmm, a very quiet day.

The good - No big snow storm for me.

The bad - My home laptop could be messed up. I hope it is nothing serious, but I'm lucky I did my weekly backup on the weekend. But it would be a royal pain to reload. Maybe I'll get a new HD and expand if I have to reload.

The usual - Work is have until Thursday to finish up some budget stuff.

big snow storm here. Maybe 12" today, and lots more to come over this week.

Been interesting here lately, having lots of dense ice fog. It's making EVERYTHING crystal white, like entire trees--trunk, limbs, and all. Not just the tops, where snow might set, but the whole thing, encased. Very pretty. Well, it's also been cold with that. I've used the hot tub a couple times, Bitterly chilly to get in, but quite invigorating once you're actually in the hot tub. Well, as I'm sitting in it, my body's nice and warm, and even my head, in the heat vapors right above the water. But when I get out, the humidity has condensed and frozen on my hair, giving me ice hair, even though I still feel nice and toasty warm. Funky.

Watched "Ice Age 3" tonight. Not bad, but just not all that great. Some fun moments. But in all 3 movies, I have LOVED the Scrat scenes. They're fresh, cute, and whimsical. They should just cut out all the other contrived crap, and make a Scrat movie!

I did mine too, I called Overhead door company when initially installed, and for a replacement last spring, lol. I love the quiteness of the new opener, the new inside control sucks.

I did one repair once on the emergency chain drop lever that I broke inadvertantly and had never been so frustrated with something as I was that day. That was my first and last repair on those. I got it done, but it was not easy at all. In 16 years, I've had springs replaced once, the thing I repaired, and a replacement on my opener. That's not to bad.
