A member on another forum (http://www.digitalhomecanada.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=16084) has seen and gives his impressions of JVC's new 1280x720 3 chip high contrast DILA RPTV.

Seemed quite impressed with its brightness and black level.

Apologize about linking to another forum, but it is the ONLY info I have seen on this unit, and didn't think it would be kosher to reprint his comments here either.

Interesting, Brandon.

I wonder if JVC has gotten overall chip yields for LCOS up high enough now that the consumer RPTV market is viable in a business sense? (since light engine costs and margins are roughly 1/2 the consumer FPTV products, to the best of my knowledge). This would make them a much more credible competitor to TI than they have been in the past.

Of course, there's a bit of difference between supplying their own in house D-ILA RPTVs, and supplying multiple external vendors, as TI does. Still, it sounds quite promising. Hope they DO get it off the ground in volume soon enought to build some momentum ahead of Intel's delayed entry. They are listed in stock at a number of stores...
