Anyone else heard a rumor of a new Mini MC-12 from Lexicon called the MC-8? I heard this from a customer this week, but that's all I have heard...

This is the official response from Lexicon:

We will be releasing a new processor in January or February. Details on the
name and pricing are yet to be determined and released, but several key
features are known including component video switching and 5.1 analog input.
There will be a balanced version, much like the MC-12. There will also be a
trade-in program for MC-1, DC-2, and possibly DC-1 owners as well.

The Lexicon web site is a good place to keep on top of the latest news on
this new processor.

Oh cool, official word. Now, if it's not 12,000 bucks, lol. Maybe I can think about trading my MC-1. Last hoorah before daughter starts college. Have you checked tuition lately?

The MC12 is what happen when they needed to take the MC1 to the next level the box was too small.

MC12 upgrades coming in the new year (maybe)
-Chip card addon/upgrade 3x more power to handle MLP and DSD
aka DVDA and SACD and other cool stuff
-Auto level setup Speaker EQ with mic
-Firewire

They are making a DVD transport.

As for a MC-8 or what ever, their best move would be to lower the price of their product line as much as they can but still making money. Rotel's RSP-1066 = DC-2 at a lower price without L7+ component video.
