Hello everyone,
I am considering upgrading my side speakers, they currently are B&W 601 S2. Im thinking of replacing them with B&W 805s. My other speakers are 805N for rears, 804N mains, htm1.
I am a MC-1 owner. My question is; when playing a 2 channel cd in the Logic 7, Music Surround and Music Logic modes, is the same amount of informaion (in general) sent to both the rears and sides? Also what about the other modes?
Will this upgrade be a day and night difference?
Thanks for any input,
Rob

Rob, the role of the sides and rears is somewhat dependent upon the material being played as to how it is matrixed.

Personally, I use Grand Piano mains, Concerto sides, and Concertino rears. To me, the more uniform your soundstage sounds, the more credible the image presented sounds. After all, I personally gave up 10" rear driver, 3 way Infinity Kappas, for the seamless sound of an all Sonus faber setup. Of course, your already all B & W, so, that's not an issue, unless the 600 series and 800 series use markedly different tweeters and in effect are not timbre matched.

I am not sure that going full range from less than full range will make a huge difference. If everything else matches up, and that's all your after, then it could be an overkill change. Can you audition them as your sides without a firm commitment to buy?
