This month's issue of Stereophile's Guide To Home Theater has a review of the C-2/A-51 combo. It grades out at the top of the heap in sound quality, sound quantity, build quality and reliability according to the reviewer (Steve Stone?).

This review did raise a couple of questions. The A-51 rates at 400 watts per channel at 4-ohms with all 5 channels driven. Are there any other 5- or 6-channel HT amps that compare similarly power-wise? And secondly, are there any of these other amps that are about the same price?

I just picked up the review and it is indeed a very good review. The consensus that seems to be shared among all reviewers, is that this is one great 2 channel preamp (as well as a great HT processor)...even with its internal DA conversion. From the McCormack MAP-1 (7.1 analog bypass) to the TAG AV32rbp/192 (internal DACs)...and now the Tom Evans Audio Designs Vibe and Perpetual Technologies P-1A/P-3A combo, the Halo is performing very well and even exceeding the sound of some (TAG).
