Classy finish on Parasound HALO line

I tell you, you've got to see these units in person. The satin finish is quite stunning, but the best part has to be the lighting design. The blue glow inside and behind buttons is very, very attractive, and the display is nice and crisp. In the dark they're even better.

Haven't seen the C1 screen yet, so I can't speak on that.

Actually, I stopped by another Good Guys store today, and saw the C1 for the first time. Absolutely beautiful! It was displayed with the A21 and A52, and the three units are gorgeous monsters. The TFT screen on the C1 wasn't very viewable at angles, though. Fairly typical for that type of display. But it's not like you're going to be watching it for any length of time. I'll just be using it for previews of other sources while one is playing on the main zone, DVD-Audio manipulation, and setting parameters.

Yep the finish is really nice on the C-1...
Since I didn't have my projector up last week...
I watched a tape on the 5" TFT display...
it turned out that it was really good....better than expected...
and bright!

The Blue glow behind the buttons is nice too...
some glow brighter than others..that means that it's the mode that has been selected..
like the Main / Zone buttons
if the glow behind the main glows more than the one behind Zone...Main is selected etc..

really nice.

something I found strange is that the BNC connectors were not attached to the rear panel but just put through leaving the weight of the cables pass onto the PCB behind them....

of course I did change that and added some nice thin bolts that hold them to the back panel.

Humm also added some BNC covers for those I won't use.

Can't wait to get back home after this trip to Korea...

Okay, now I'm curious. How did you "change" that? Did you attach the connectors to the rear plate with something?

Yep..I attached them with some very thin bolts for BNC connectors
they are about 1.5mm thick and I use those at work....I have bags of them.

I could ship a few out (18) if someone wants to try them
they are a pain to put on ...because there isn't much space.,..but it's worth the hassle...

why did I do that?
because I don't like to send the force (weight) of the cables on the solders and the PCB inside.

Interesting that this came back up. I'm not sure, but I think my component video boards are loose in my C1. I've had them hooked up for about 2 years now, and I wonder if it's because of this BNC weight issue that Jariten mentioned above. I haven't seen him in the Club for a while, though.

Periodically, my video display will spontaneously show a doubled "ghost" image shifted about 1/2" to the right, on my 120" screen. I've troubleshot it to the BNC jacks of the component video on the back of the C1. If I jiggle the jacks, the image either gets darker or, if I jiggle it just right, goes away entirely for a while. I don't see how the cables themselves could be making this happen, and have talked to the cable manufacturer. So I'm guessing that it's the component video board itself inside the C1. I haven't talked with Parasound about this yet, though.

FWIW, I just got a Zhd, so hopefully I'll be running everything via HDMI shortly anyway, and the component video will be a moot issue.
