Who'd be THE actor to portray Mr. Clark?

You know Mr. Clark, right? He's Tom Clancys' ex-SEAL, CIA operator, head of the Rainbow 6 anti-terroism group. He was introduced briefly in Cardinal of the Kremlin and then was the focus of the book Without Remorse, which is one of the top 2 or 3 books Clancy has written.

As far as current actors go, Viggo Mortensen - Aragorn/Strider in Lord of the Rings gets my vote. As far as the old-school actors, Sam Elliot or Clint Eastwood top my list.

What about you?

What about you?
While of course I would feel honored to be asked to play the part, and might accept if the money was right and the perks lined up properly, I was really looking for something a little more Shakespearean -- or light comedy -- for my next role. :>)

D'oh!

Let me re-phrase: Who do you think would be the best "current" actor to play the role of Mr. Clark? Who do you think would be the best "earlier" actor to play the role?
