Just curious, if anyone here is using an Audio Server in their rack. If so, what brand and/or if any special software are you using? Everywhere I look these days, there seem to be a growing market and demand for these units. What would be some of the features to look out for when purchasing?

I run a digital coax from my PC to my HT (4 rooms away). I tried the Audiotron and the Dell unit and didn't have any luck with either. They also don't always like VBR encoded MP3s which is all I now use (this problem may have been fixed by now though).

I considered one of the many CD player/hard drive units as well. I just like the fact that a PC gives you true flexibility in encoding and playback. With all other media servers you're constrained by the built-in software.

Eventually, I'll build a PC for my audio rack. I'd like to have video out so I can view WinAmp visualizations on the TV.

Those remind me of the late-60's early-70's psychodelic movies/blacklight posters. Havin' a flashback Sili? :D

Unless they are past life flashbacks I don't think so. :)
I was born in '71.

I don't know what it is but I can stare at a good visualisation for a very long time. It's like I'm in a trance or something (and no acid is involved). They're really cool with the lights off.
