Who watched it last night!?!?!? :P I LOVE that show!! :yesnod:

Not me

But seriously, it looks like a good series. Is there anything old or new that you can compare it to? This will give me some idea, and also do I have to watch every episode?

I can't really compare it to any TV shows..... Nothing really like it....

How about Gilligans Island but WAY more intense/dramatic/suspenseful etc

Really though I don't think I've seen another show that keeps you on the edge of your seat as much or as often. Not to mention all the direction it sends your brain spiraling thinking of possibilities/tangents/theories etc!!!

You probably don't have to watch it from the beginning but it wouldn't hurt! :D (And it's well worth it! :yesnod: Go rent it!)

I absolutly love this show at the moment. I'm in the process of watching season 1 up to ep16 and loving it. I strongly suggest you watch it from the begining as it is character driven and you need to follow everyones journey and watch them evolve as the show progresses. Haven't been into a show like this since 24 Season 1. Give it a go.

If I had to comparing Lost to anything I would say a cross between The X-Files and Cast Away (although Gilligans Island is probably more accurate). Its been a long time since a show has captivated me like Lost. I am on my second viewing of the Season 1 DVD's now. There are so many instances of "background" things its hard to catch them all.

So lets hear your theroies on the hatch now that we know whats down there.

aud19
09-24-2005, 01:55 PM
I just can't believe it's the same guy from the stadium that's down there! 8O And also when Walt was standing all wet in the jungle going "shhhhh" T :E

I don't know how the writers can keep this pace up!! But so far 1 full season and 1 episode they haven't let me down yet! :B

Sithlord
09-26-2005, 10:05 AM
Hey I'm not up to that part yet. I still have 3 episodes to go. They haven't opened the hatch yet :( . I love the fact there are so many possibilties and too many varibles to even try to understand whats going on. My best guess would be it's like the movie The Game and either it's a govenment experiment or a Billionaires entertainment. Hope the show continues best show next to Battlestar Galactica new series IMO.

This show is absolutely amazing. Aud19, that's not all he said! Anyone who watches this show needs to read the forums at http://lost-forum.com/ if you don't already do so! No matter how close you watch the show, you miss a lot. The numbers appear everywhere and there are all kinds of details that are mentioned but may be missed. I can't believe some of the little things that were mentioned show you how their paths crossed prior to the island... it's very intriguing!

Ok, who knew right away about the girl in the pit?! :D

Not me :duh: I didn't even think any of them still had the gun. Why didn't they use it against "the others" on the beach to avoid capture ? As always happens in TV shows/movies, some of the actions of the characters defy logic. :scratchhead:

aud19
10-06-2005, 02:28 PM
Well I think it's at least somewhat plausible, I mean his character had been shot and probably lost a lot of blood... he's drags himself on shore and sees Jin(sp) yadda yadda. I think it's quite possible in the turmoil with added blood loss that he may have forgotten about the gun ;)

As I recall, Michael, not the wounded Sawyer was last shown in possession of the gun prior to landing on the beach. You never know what you would do if faced with a real-life situation yourself but it seemed to me like someone had sufficient time to draw the weapon. Ah well.

This will probably sound funny, given I have 2 sat tuner DVRs, an FP system and a JVC DILA RPTV, and a big old surround setup, but I don't really watch TV. Beyond watching a little bit with my kid (scooby doo, croc hunter, etc. maybe 2 hours a week), I don't watch TV almost at all. Use the system for movies (DVD) and PS2.

My wife uses it, and had recorded BSG for me, but we erased those all to free up space and bought the DVD set. I usually find that I would almost rather do anything else than watch TV. In fact, when I actually watch a DVRed show, I often DON'T skip the commercials, just because I haven't seen any in so long and it's fun to see the humorous ones, or those people have talked about months before (it's usually 2-3 months after recording I get around to watching something).

It's odd, because 7 years ago or more, I used to watch a fair amount, maybe 8-10 hours a week. My kid is odd this way too (UNLIKE me at the same age), unless he is sick, you usually can't get him to sit and watch either. Left to his own devices, he would probably max out at 3-4 hours a week, plus maybe another 3-4 hours of Ratchet & Clank on the PS2. Good for us I guess.

So while I would probably watch the first episode and agree it was great, I'd probably wander off and do something else shortly and not get back to it for 6 months.

Okay, who saw last night's episode ? OMG, Shannon got shot, I can't believe it. I didn't see that one coming. In the previews when they said someone was leaving for good, I honestly thought it was going to be Sawyer.

aud19
11-10-2005, 02:23 PM
Maybe put spoiler tags on that post there Glen ;)

Chris D
11-10-2005, 09:12 PM
Ah, and even still, the episode didn't seem to indicate whether the character is leaving for good or not. We were left hanging at the end of the episode, not knowing the status of the character.

Stranded on an island with minimal medical supplies with the injury she sustained.... I'd say there's not much left to question. Then again it's Lost, so who the hell knows!!!

My wife noticed, just after the anouncement a couple of weeks ago that someone would die, that the actress playing Shannon was back mainland doing interviews and talk shows while Sawyer was still in Hawaii (getting robbed).

OK somebody explain to me what happened with the "counter" last night! Was that a borderline warning "hieroglyphics" (looked like egyptian symbols of some sort to me) or did the counter actually bottom out and something's gonna happen next episode....?

Have I mentioned I LOVE this show?!? :D

OK somebody explain to me what happened with the "counter" last night! Was that a borderline warning "hieroglyphics" (looked like egyptian symbols of some sort to me) or did the counter actually bottom out and something's gonna happen next episode....?That's the catch-22 we don't know, it went into the symbols (possibly another form of count down?) but reset. So it was a tease for what may happen if it's not reset.

Good pics, Thomas! what I interpreted the sequence to mean is that the countdown had expired, and it had initiated the process of whatever happens when the countdown is done. (launching a missile, maybe?) Notice that you heard a mechanical whine spooling up as the hyroglyphics started.

Putting in the final sequence aborted the launch sequence, and the whining spooled back down.

Thomas, what's the last picture that you posted there?

ThomasW

It's someone's translation of the hieroglyphs including their speculation about the missing one.

All this came from the forum below, I found while Googling to find info about Janson's question

BTW, I'm a fan of the show but not enough to record it and do a frame by frame analysis....

Well the "mid-season opener" didn't dissapoint :T Anybody else catch it? I'm really wondering what the heck they're going to do with Jack?!?!

Anybody have any guesses on the "major character" that's going to be killed off? My guess is Hurley or Sawyer but with this show, who the hell knows!!!

aud19
02-15-2007, 02:25 PM

Okay, so they hooked me for ANOTHER season.

HI

Does anybody know when they will ever get off that bloody island?

Do you guys think that the " Others" are really scientists in disguise?

Also does anybody know how many more series they are going to produce?

Thanks

Yas

Chris D
11-01-2007, 03:18 PM
Hmmm... dunno. I'm still waiting for season 3 to come out on video, so I can catch up.

aud19
11-01-2007, 03:41 PM
Yas, you not watch the end of last season yet? I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't watched yet so I won't say much... but I think a lot of your questions will be answered there ;)

I remember there being an announcement of exactly how many seasons where left. There is a definite planned ending, I just can't remember how many more it was. A quick google search ought to fix that though ;)

Yasvanth
11-01-2007, 04:30 PM
Thanks Jason,

I used to be a big fan of The X- Files, but now I think it was rubbish compared to the high standard of acting, excellent scripts that continue to keep the viewer rivetted to his seat, and constantly asking questions. I think it's brill. I just hope the guys who actually produce this fantastic series don't run out of ideas and when the series does finally end, wont end abruptly.

Guess what I still haven't seen or purchased the 3rd Series yet, but I hope to soon!

Yas :T

aud19
11-01-2007, 04:41 PM
Well from what I recall they have a planned story arc that has an appropriate, non-abrupt ending apparently. Which is the reason for the planned and definite promise of a specific number of seasons. (I think we only have a few more for a total of 6 or 7 if memory serves me.)

Otherwise I agree, the show is brilliant :T Makes a lot of other previously well thought of shows look quaint in comparison IMO.

sirbogey
11-14-2007, 09:56 PM
X-files was definitely not rubbish! I got the whole DVD collection and ship it in now and then. X-files back then was the same as Lost these days... just too advance to comprehend... whatever..

and like I said on your other post: unless they get really LOST, there will be another 3 seasons, since some of the major characters (ie Michael's father, yeap you heard right, he'll be back) signed for another 3 years (signed this summer)

Yasvanth

Hi all Lost fans,

Does anybody know what the 'Smoke Monster' is all about?

Also can somebody explain, why there was a Polar Bear running loose on a Tropical Island?

Even though I have just finished watching the 3rd Series, there is still a lot questions to be answered.

The plane crash was done on purpose. To bring the survivours to the Island, but for what reason?

What sort of experiments are they doing?

Why do the Others do not want the Survivours to leave the Island?

I hope one of you Lost fans can answer some of these questions, as it's doing my head in.

Thanks

Yas

Just finished season 3 on DVD. Can't wait for season 4 (I'll be able to watch it in hi-def, though I have to say the SD DVDs of Lost are among the most impressive I've seen--they give HD cable, at least, a run for its money).

aud19
02-01-2008, 02:46 PM
So who watched it!!? :P

Can't wait to see who "the six" are and what happens to the rest exactly. Obviously they come back together at some point as Hurley left with Lock but ends up back home with Jack, Kate and....?

Ovation
02-02-2008, 01:11 AM
Just watched it on my PVR (in hi-def). Got used to watching it on DVD sets. It sucks that I have to wait a whole week for the next episode. Other than that, no complaints. It's "must-see TV" (I know, I know, another network and another era).;)

Dougie085
02-02-2008, 02:15 AM
Yeah that first episode basically left me going "Huh" lots of new questions :B Can't wait for the next ep.

Ovation
02-02-2008, 10:23 AM
The only downside is that we won't be getting the full 16 episode run as originally scheduled--the season will "end" like Heroes did.

Dougie085
02-02-2008, 10:46 AM
Why's that? They had the full series already written before they even started filming season 1.

Ovation
02-02-2008, 12:20 PM
Why's that? They had the full series already written before they even started filming season 1.
That is a common misconception. Abrams and Co. have said several times that while they have a general idea of the overall arc, not all the episodes have been written (and, indeed, they have, at times, made several significant adjustments owing to cast changes and other issues). They only had eight episodes of the sixteen slated for this year completed before the strike. That's why we're getting only half a season.

Dougie085
02-02-2008, 03:22 PM
Hmm... well the studios need to pull their heads out their butts and give them what they want. The terms aren't even that horrible.

Ovation
02-02-2008, 06:11 PM
I agree.

Dougie085
02-02-2008, 07:15 PM
One of the biggest issues I know they want is they want payment for online streamed content which they get no royalties at all right now. I think thats very reasonable demand. Too many shows are suffering from this and some of the new ones that only had one season this strike could completely kill them.

Ovation
02-02-2008, 08:36 PM
Journeyman may not have survived beyond a year, but it would have had a full season, IMO (and it was starting to get really interesting when the episodes ran out). Life is one my wife and I enjoyed quite a bit and we really hope it does not get canceled (though its last broadcast episode at least resolved a major plot point so as to give a semblance of closure).

Dougie085
02-02-2008, 09:55 PM
I'm hoping Californication survives.

Ovation

Excellent news. Maybe there'll be time to get Lost (and some others) back into production.

At the very least hopefully we'll get the second half of the seasons in the fall when the seasons normally begin anyways. Will work out well for Lost as their next season could start in spring like it did this year anyway.
