Do you still have the snap on for the 8500i Bing.?
Or did you send it back with the laptop.
Don't forget about me!
Sorry Trev, in order to get the carbon snap for the 9300, I have to send back the graphite swirl. I was going to give it to you, but Dell wants it back. When I was talking to the CS I said I had a snap cover for my 8500 and would they send me out a snap cover for the 9300. He said sure as long as I send back the one for the 8500. They even sent a shipping label and Purolator code for it... You think it would cost more to send it back then what it's worth now. Beats me why Dell does crazy stuff like this. One time they sent me 4 separate screws via Purolator, all in separate boxes, with separate codes.... :scratchhead:
Nice Bi-Plane Ben  ;x(

Starting research on new tires. Leaning towards these right now:
http://www.tirerack.com/images/tires/yokohama/yo_avid_h4s_ci2_l.jpg
Yokohama - AVID H4S
The AVID H4s/V4s radials are Yokohama's High Performance All-Season tires designed to take everyday driving to a new level of comfort and confidence. The AVID H4s/V4s radials were developed to provide sporty cars, coupes and sedans with good treadwear, responsive handling and year-round traction, even in light snow.
On the outside, Yokohama developed an all-new tread compound for the AVID H4s/V4s radials that delivers grip on dry, wet and snow-covered roads while setting new high mileage levels for H- and V-speed rated performance tires at Yokohama. This new tread compound is molded into a computer-optimized directional tread design that combines large independent shoulder blocks and intermediate blocks with a solid center rib to enhance straight line tracking and high-speed stability on dry roads. Four, wide circumferential grooves and multiple cross groves effectively evacuate water for hydroplaning resistance while slightly offset tread blocks further enhance light snow traction. On the inside, the AVID H4s/V4s features twin, high-tensile steel belts reinforced by nylon belt edge strips to provide responsive handling and high-speed durability.
The Yokohama AVID H4s and V4s radials' styling features black letters reversed out of a stylized serrated sidewall, and are available in 65-, 60-, 55-, 50-, 45 and 40-series sizes in 14" through 18" rim diameters.
If anyone wants to offer opinions/advice, I have a thread here:

I was afraid they might be droopy when uncovered, which would look weird to me.
Covered up though, I imagine there is some support to keep them perked up
and supported , therefore the magnificent eye candy.
I could be wrong though, as I am not an expert on the subject.
Maybe Bing can offer his opinion as I know he has studied the subject
with more depth and detail! :)

Have fun rocking the church Snap!! :-y
Yeah, I will likely need SUV tires soon myself Jason, that is if I can afford to drive the thing. But my truck is not much better. My M3 is pretty decent at 22.6 mpg, but gee, I don't want to drive it all the time.
Truthfully, I should probably trade the old SUV for a Honda Civic or such, but... I do like the feel of the big ole beast.

THE WORLD'S SHORTEST FAIRY TALE
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl "Will you marry me?" The girl said, "NO!" And the guy lived happily ever after and went fishing, hunting, and played golf a lot, and drank beer, and farted whenever he wanted.

David, "Operation" could be facilitated covered or uncovered. However I suspect that the tactile feel could be diminished slightly with the covers on, slightly
Trev, I would bet they don't drop much once the anti gravity supports are removed, fake ones normally don't move :)
Cool on the 24" :T
Snap, if that were the case, the world would owe you a lot

I thought they had Washington state's weather and needed only 1 season tires, RAIN. LOL.

David: On a more serious note, there is supposed to be armed militia going to patrol the US/Canada border between BC and Washington.
And we soon will be closing the door on September. The month went by pretty fast.
Got some good news on my refinancing. Loks like the original institution wants to keep me as a client. So I should be receiving some documents pretty soon. The only potential issue is with the existing mortgage broker. You see to do any refinancing, the bank requires an appraisail. So the broker ordered one and we had to pay for it. Well now the broker technically owns the appraisal. So we need his 'permision' to use it again. I find this just wrong, especially since we paid for it. So we will ask nicely. If he doesn't agree to let us use it, then I will decline the charge on our visa statement. Since he wants the appraisal, he can pay for it him self!
Now if he wanted to work a bit harder, he could have gone back to the original institution and explain the situation and got his commission from them. I even suggested as much. Well he hasn't done a thing, and I've done most of the work, so he's out of my good books. Plus he's lost a ton of future referral business.
This is the service we get after we have already referred a couple of clients his way over the past couple of years.

Hi Guys!!:later:
More Blonde Jokes!
Blondes are back . . .
Did you hear about the two blondes who froze to death in a drive-in movie?
They went to see "Closed for the Winter."
***************
Why did the blonde resolve to have only 3 children?
She heard that 1 out of every 4 children born in the world was Chinese.
***************
A blonde hurries into the emergency room late one night with the tip of her index finger shot off. "How did this happen?" the emergency room doctor asked her.
Well, I was trying to commit suicide," the blonde replied.
"What?" sputtered the doctor. "You tried to commit suicide by shooting your finger off?"
"No, Silly!" the blonde said. "First I put the gun to my chest, and I thought: I just paid $6,000.00 for these implants, I'm not shooting myself in the chest."
So then?" asked the doctor. "Then I put the gun in my mouth, and I thought: I just paid $3000 .00 to get my teeth straightened, I'm not shooting myself in the mouth." "So then?"
"Then I put the gun to my ear, and I thought: This is going to make a loud noise. So I put my finger in the other ear before I pulled the trigger."
*****************
Did you hear about the near-tragedy at the mall?
There was a power outage, and twelve blondes were stuck on the escalators for over four hours.
*****************
A blonde was driving home after a game and got caught in a really bad hailstorm. Her car was covered with dents, so the next day she took it to a repair shop. The shop owner saw that she was a blonde, so he
decide to have some fun. He told her just to go home and blow into the tail pipe really hard, and all the dents would pop out. So, the blonde went home, got down on her hands and knees and started blowing into her tailpipe.
Nothing happened. So she blew a little harder, and still nothing happen. Her roommate, another blonde, came home
and said, "What are you doing?
The first blonde told her how the repairman had instructed her to blow into the tail pipe in order to get all the dents to pop out. The roommate rolled her eyes and said, "Uh, like hello! You need to roll up the windows
first."
***************
A blonde was shopping at a Target Store and came across a silver thermos. She ! was quite fascinated by it, so she picked it up and brought it over to the clerk to ask what it was. The clerk said, "Why, that's a thermos.....it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold."
"Wow, said the blonde, "that's amazing....I'm going to buy it !"
So she bought it and took it to work the next day. Her boss saw it on her desk and commented on her nice new thermos.
She replied "Yeh its neat!.....it keeps hot things hot and cold things cold." Her boss inquire d, "What do you have in it?"
The blond replied, "Two popsicles, and some coffee".

Lex, isn't it a paradox that the dog will poop and pee everywhere to piss you off, yet be smart and lovable to you too? :scratchhead:
Send refined Fuel David. Gas went up 40 cents yesterday, to 3.30 a stinkin gallon. :( All of our fuel comes from the Gulf coast. So we be f@##d even though things are really not all that bad at the refineries from what I read.

Be still my beating heart .
Bing, you got that part right. My carpet is so stained right now it's not funny. :( My daughter seems to take a lacksidazical approach to cleanup too. Personally, that's why I'd always kept dogs out of the house, to avoid all that business, except in my laundry room where there is a linolium floor. But I just decided, well I could keep a perfect house and not have my daughter there, or just accept it, and deal with it. So, generally, I keep her out of my bedroom as much as possible, and deal with it as best I can.
She does pretty decent some of the time. But she still has accidents.

Morning fellas. :later:
I think today is paperwork day for me. :p: My piles are getting pretty high.
I had a brief scare, my palm stopped working, but after a reset, it's up and working.
Yesterday, somehow the driverside mirror has fallen out of the housing. Don't know what happened, my wife says one minute it's there, then the next she hears a sound and the mirror is gone. Now that's gonna cost me some money to get if fixed. Maybe I should just buy a new car.
I've been also looking at some IBM laptops. I've got an older one, and I quite like it. There's a promotion going on with Visa that you can get 10% off the purchase price.
Greg and I have similar tastes, and would like to taste the Blonde, lol.
Right Grego? Speaking of, how's your tasty thing doing? (you know, that new girl)

It's funny, she jumps up and runs to in front of the screen and barks like crazy at that chicken. Even after it's gone, she's still barking, until finally you convince her the chicken is gone, lol.

http://mysite.verizon.net/nicholasmosher/rsy.JPG
Well, the home theater chairs are going to have to wait until next month. I made some more kitchen/dining upgrades which I had planned for later this year. I'm supposed to entertain for Thanksgiving and Christmas this year in my small apartment. Space for four, and thats it! I've been using my old dorm plates and flatware which are kinda, well, crummy. Personally I'll eat Porterhouse's off the floor if it's clean, but I think my guests will appreciate this upgrade from the linoleum.
I lived out Fight Club the past couple days in my off time...
"I flipped through catalogs and wondered: What kind of dining set defines me as a person?"
Whats I gots...
- Aspen Dinnerware
- Steelsmith Flatware
- Elite Stemware
- Wusthof Classic Steak Knives
- A nice new wine rack
- Upgraded Digital Timer/Thermometer from my handheld unit
- New Wusthof Ceramic/Carbide Sharpener to replace my cheapie unit
The steak knives were kinda pricey, but they're a level up from the ones included in the block sets. They are like mini versions of the classic series chef knives. The wine rack will be much welcomed. Right now I have a cubby under a bookshelf that I store my wine in, but this puppy has a place to hang glasses and put accessories on (corker/plugs/foil slicers/etc). I'll probably still keep my good cabernet's under the bookcase though to protect them from light.

I already posted in the TV section, but I'm confused. Has Sony gotten out of plasma sets? I was at Costco (Canada) this morning and I saw a 37" Wega Plasma that would probably fit in our bedroom armoire. It was on sale for $2,800 CDN. I also checked a US e-tailer and it appears that this set retails for $4k US. What gives?
Looks alot like this one.

Ken-A buddy of mine is the Project Manager for a HUGE Custom AV shop. He grabed as many Sony Plasmas as he could. I think he got 15 50 inch Sony Plasmas, cause they were NOT making any more.
Sony has gone all LCD and RP LCD. The new 40 inch XBR LCD is AWESOME. Has a 2 year warenty, and looks sweet. CC sells them for 3100 I think. Not bad when you are talking LCD's. They are so cool.

Not true Shane, the Red Sox are one game up on the wild card over the Indians. This means the following...
Indians Lose, Red Sox Lose - Red Sox are one game up and win.
Indians Lose, Red Sox Win - Red Sox are two games up and win.
Indians Win, Red Sox Win - Red Sox are one game up and win.
Indians Win, Red Sox Lose - Indians & Red Sox have a one game playoff Monday.
So actually we have pretty good chances today, no matter what we won't be eliminated today, the worst that can happen is we lose and they win, which will force a playoff game. Yesterday our pitching just plain sucked, Schilling pitching today doesn't excite me either, but we didn't retain Pedro or Derek from last year, and that's our own damn fault. The heartbreaker is that if we beat the Yankees today, we will finish the season with the same win/loss record as them, but then they split hairs and look at how many games we won against each other. That would give the Yankees 10/19 wins with us. Talk about close!
*damn yankees*
Oh, good morning guys... :B
Hey, Sonnie, good job mopping up Fla. Bummer about your no 1 receiver. Those type things are hard to watch. I remember when Joe Theisman's leg broke like a pretzel with a 300 pound lineman on his back, and his leg locked. Yikes. I happened to have been watching that game.
Tenn played them good defense as well except for stupid mistakes that cost us some 3s more than TDs. It wasn't a great game for the Vols. The LSU game though, what a spirited comeback. I felt like Clausen was the guy and wasn't given time in the Fla game to make something happen. Geesh, this week, we face no 6 Ga. These games just don't get any easier on this schedule from top ten land.

On the plus side, it forces me to do inside work. So I think I will do some guitar repair work. Have to see if I can lower the action on an old CC57 Celebrity by Ovation. It means sanding and fileing and stringing, then checking the action. Then do it all over until happy or guitar is toast. Worst that can happen is I screw up and have a display piece and it is good enough looking to make a good display piece. I only paid $150 for it and a fitted hardshell Ovation case.

Well I am going to be working, so that means here we should have a great weekend here.
I guess this is payback for being in Winnipeg for the 30'c/86'f on Friday 8)
Well I have this Celebrity working as well as it is going to work, without major bridge work. Sounds just like an Ovation.

I picked up a couple of computer based CDs for guitar instruction for my nephews, they look good and are about 50 hours of lessons and audio/video based instruction. Not bad at all and the good thing is down there they should be in the $15 - 20 range. Names are Electric Guitar coach and Guitar coach by charanga. Example, the video shows both the fretting hand and the picking hand from inside the guitar so you can see exactly how they pick each example.

Taz - I've been reading one of my other books, and have a few chords down pat that are great. Playing my own rendition of Wildwood by Paul Weller.
I play with the thumb of my fret hand wrapped around the neck, it's the only way it feels comfortable. Every book I have says "NO!", but I can hit all the strings I need without any blockage. Sticken it to the man already, pretty soon I need that skull tat. :B

But of the 19 games the Red Sox/Yankees have played together this year, the Yanks won 10 and the Red Sox won 9. Thats the only reason they have the AL East spot and we have the wildcard. Pretty damn close! 8O

Guys!, :later:
Here is a few good ones!
The Reverend John Fluff was the pastor of a small town in Ireland. One day
he was walking down the high street, when he noticed a young lady of his
congregation sitting in a pub drinking beer.
The Reverend wasn't happy. He walked through the open door of the pub and
sat down next to the women.
"Miss Fitzgerald", he said sternly. "This is no place for a member of my
congregation. Why don't you let me take you home?"
"Sure", she said with a slur, obviously very drunk.
When Miss Fitzgerald stood up from the bar she began to weave back and
forth. The Reverend realized that she'd had far too much to drink and
grabbed her arms to steady her. When he did, they both lost their
balance and tumbled to the floor.
After rolling around for a few moments, the Reverend wound up on top of Miss
Fitzgerald, her skirt hiked up to her waist.
The pub landlord looked over and said, "Oi mate, we won't have any of that
carrying on in this pub."
The Reverend looked up at the landlord and said, "But you don't understand,
I'm Paster Fluff."
The landlord nodded and said, "Oh well, if you're that far in, you might as
well finish."

Darn, found out my barber who was setup with a shop in my Mom's building is leaving my Mom's property to setup shop in her house now. I'm not going to somebody's house to get my haircut, so now I have to find a new barber/stylist. I really hate that. I had the same lady cut my hair for close to 30 years, until she died not long before I lost my Dad. She cut everyone's hair just about in my family. All the guys anyway. Sometimes my Sister too.
I like Deon ok, and for the most part she did pretty well on my hair once I got her trained. But I still don't want to go to someone's house.

However, this is more what the Z06 hood should look like.
Lingenfelter has twin turbos stuffed under the hood which is why they need the bulge(sp?).
While the Z06 is tasty, Noone is going to confuse it with a supercar aka Ferrari or Lambo. The Gallardo is "the poor man's Lambo" in context of Lambos pricing structure.
The Aston Martin I posted a few pages back is even cheaper and still while I love that car, the Lambo has it beat in terms of looks.
Well, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and the Lambo looks like any other supercar from the front, and the front has to capture me on a car like this, the Lambo just doesn't. Maybe it might talk to me in person, but not in photos. I'd take a Ford GT first myself.
I think it's the sharp lines of the Lambo that don't appeal to me.
The Aston ain't bad either.
Well at least you have your Priorities right Snap, way to go. I'm sure it suxs somewhat, but you did the right thing :T

Yeah I totally agree Bing. :T
(snap says in his most sarcastic voice) Upgrade from the Denon 3805 to the Yamaha RX-V557 and upgrade from Denon 2910 to the Panasonic DVD-S77 the only thing left to do now is to sell my Phase Techs and get a set of Optima Speakers, or maybe those cute little Bose speakers in Black!
Hey it is only money right? Dental work is so expensive. Even with half of it paid I had to come up with 600 bones more than we had at the time.
Lex, thanks for the offer man. That was not only cheap but a very nice offer for a nice piece of gear. Thank you.
I will tell you this....eventually I will get a super cool system again. What ever I get will have to work for now. I will simply live vicarously through you all! :yesnod:
Hey what is the next TTP going to be called? we are going to need a new one before today is over?
For those if us in Avaition, I say..."powered by JP-8"
(For non avaiation people that be JET FUEL!)
For you Texas A&M Fans......

TTP doesn't end until it reaches page 101 (100 flips). The next one would be the 19th installment, TTP XVIX. Trevor normally starts it, unless he delegates the task to Bing-o. ;)

The Gallardo is "the poor man's Lambo" in context of Lambos pricing structure.
That's a pretty Ox-moronic statement no matter how you look at it
Sure it takes less to own, but it still takes a huge bank account to maintain. I would have no problem being called poor in that sense ;)
I love the chiseled look of the Lambo, plus it's Italian, you can't invoke anymore emotion than that.
If cars were a woman, Lamborghini's would be Monica Bellucci

Snap,
Thanks for the RP LCD pic. That's certainly an option, I have to check the depth. Is the pq on RP LCDs as good as the flat panel LCDs? Plus 42" for 2,500 vs 3-3.5 is attractive.
I may have found the guy to do my garage/room addition if I do it. He beat this one outfit by knocking it out of the park compared to them. All brick, insulated and sheetrocked garage, only thing not done is basically painting, which I asked to just leave off. He was still 4-5K cheaper than the other outfit, even after the size of garage was increased, went from brick halfway up to full brick, and the other outfit was not going to insulate and rock the garage even. Much much better deal.
I have 1 or 2 other guys to contact, but I liked this guy pretty well as a person, he's been a man of his word so far, easy to contact so far as well. I called him at 7 AM the first morning I contacted him, and he answered, lol.
Lex
Ken- If I would compair the 2 I would have to say that the LCD has a better PQ The thing you have to ask yourself is does it have a 1000 buck better picture? I would say that it does not. Also take into account that you just have to but a 150 buck bulb every 3-5 years and you are set. Nothing you can do if your LCD starts to get dim.
The ONLY reason that I would get a Plasma or LCD is if location (wall, bathroom,) if space was a great concern then it would be worth the extra money to buy the LCD.
I have an armoire, and so a 42 inch RP LCD would fit with .5 inches on each side. So I can do a 42 inch Panny plasma for around 3K, or I can do the 42 in Sony RPL LCD for 1999. To me the plasma is not worth the extra grand. But me getting another TV is a LOOOOOONG way away. Need a AV, and DVD first! :yesnod:

A big HOWDY to everyone! :later:
I thought I'd best get in before this TTP closes.
I hope everyone is starting out their week in a good way!
I'm having another problem with my Rotel 1056. It decides to either put out a short and mediumly loud static/popping sound out of the left speaker after being turned on for about 10 minutes,
or, if I leave it on all the time, it will occassionally (twice a week or so) start a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUD!!! mangle of static/hum/buzz, etc.
Hmmmmmmm....... I'm loving the sound, but not THAT particular sound. I'll post in the Rotel section one of these days.

Doug be careful there. Lot's of subpar contractors will quote low to get the job and then either keep adding expenses or give you the quality you paid for ;) Also remember that a good contractor SHOULD be busy and might take a little bit to get back to you because he's dealing with other clinets/work etc... A slow contractor might be available to help you right away for a reason... ;)

Gregor,
Tough luck on the Rotel. That's what 3 you've had with these issues?
I'm doing some receiver shopping as well right now. I'm waiting until CES to really make a decision. I liked the Sony ES 7100 but they screwed up the HDMI switching on it. The receiver is HEFTY at 51 lbs with a digital amp no less :jawdrop:
The last review praised it as one of the best out there for SQ concerns(has I-Link as well for SACD). Lacks a room EQ which is big for me. After hearing what the Audyssey XT can do, lacking that one "feature" is BIG. The Yamahas I liked but their EQ can't do the subs which the Denons and Hk's can as well as the new Elites. Please note I'm not talking about auto calibration but I'm talking about ROOM CORRECTION. This is a big deal. I also read that the Sherwood's SNAP EQ will do the subs. Nice :T
I have no sherwood dealer with 150 miles of me though and to be frank they would have to major discount it to make it within reason for me. I'm pretty stuck with my <$1,500 US budget.
Interresting News... Might be old news but still...
HD-DVD and Blu-Ray (http://www.macworld.com/news/2005/10/03/paramount/index.php)
Jason:
well, 7:00 AM is early and as I recall, it was a rainy morning. He does advertise, which means he's 1, making enough money to pay for ads, and 2 is actively looking for business.
He didn't come out same day, he worked it in 2 days later.
This guy knows a guy down the street that had a garage added, and he said he'd have called this guy except for a family "deal" he sort of got committed to, that didn't work out as such a great deal. He said if he had it to do over again, he'd have called Ford instead. (the guy I am talking to)
I haven't signed up yet, but his pricing pretty well confirmed my suspicions that the first guys were quoting me high. Fact is, they pretty well admitted that, and said I could save 5-7K if I found someone to do more of the work themselves, closer at hand. I guess they were going to basically sub everything out. They were a good starting point, and let me know pretty quickly I needed to look further. Carl, the guy that built my house also gave me a couple of names, and those will also be investigated before a decision is made.
I will try not to go in blind, and I will try to get some references as well for whoever I select, and to see hopefully some of their work.
HD DVD is going to be one more mess Mats. All we need is another VHS/Betamax war. I was aware that some studios were siding up, and that some would probably go both ways.

Whoa-Momma! My workload in the cockpit today was in overdrive. Headed out of my local airport with my CFI to Manchester, Concord, and back home. Haze had the realistic visibility at about 3mi. Made an uneventful straight in approach for landing at Manchester with a perfect slope off the PAPI's then taxied the little 152 around all the big SouthWest and Delta jets. Had to ask the ground control to repeat directions four times to get to the ramps, as neither of us understood a word he said as his controller-speak went to Mach 2. I told my CFI I felt like a pollywog swimming out into open ocean. Funniest part was that when we went to leave we went back out on the runway where we pulled off and took off with plenty of room to spare. Damn were those runways long! Beforehand I had decided to navigate solely by my compass and looking for visual landmarks/checkpoints. That didn't go so hot with the haze, and I ended up scrapping that Nav-Log to go with a roughly hewn direct-course along with progressive VOR triangulation to doublecheck landmarks/position. Next trip will be to Bradley, Westfield, and Hartford-Brainard, all of which are towered airports with overlapping airspace. Toughest part for me wasn't the flying/navigation, it was dealing with an unknown airport and controllers that spoke like auctioneers. :B

Trevor,
I've already checked-out the 37" Panny, I'm partial to the Sharp 37" (speakers on bottom) because it's cooler, titanium finish. If the Panny was in carbon fibre (Bing) I might consider it. Plus I figure a few hundred bucks over the life of the set isn't going to make or break me. I like the fact that the picture won't degrade over time, like plasma apparently does. I'll never be able to afford a used Lamborgini, so I'll buy a Sharp instead.....I think.
