Let me redo my morning.

Greetings and Salutations my good friends. Care to do Taco Bell for lunch today? No? How about Taco Bell instead? ;)

I got up early to send my daughter off to work right today, with Pillsberry Cinimmon rolls and a smile. She was probably a little surprised by that. She had to work this morning, and was dreading it last night.

I took Kiwi out for her morning jount and noticed a sanscript message in the dirt on the hill I mean way up on the hill where a house is being constructed, it said, "I love you Donna" in flourescent orange letters. Putting 1 + 1 together, knowing the woman next door has not been happy for years, having not seen her husband's 4 X 4 much at all lately, and knowing they have 3 cars with none outside this morning, (1 has to sit out with a 2 car garage), I am assuming that Mike wrote that in the dirt for Donna next door to see and that he was given the official boot to leave the house. This is of course all purely speculative on my part.

Is this part of a script on Someones Masterpieces or something. It sounds like a description of a show on PBS,BBC or CBC.

Just like what it is without thrust and forward velocity. A falling metal brick. It's why I like my parachute and the training that went with it. I don't mind landing separatly from aircraft, at least then I have the feeling of being in charge, even though Gaia, mother nature is really in charge.

Nick
Don't even think about it, don't want to hear about you landing in multiple places at the same time. Besides even with an ox supply, just think about climbing to 20k with a 150. Paitence will be needed.

Andrew
Was the movie worth it?

Yes, that seemed a bit like a Desperate Housewives monologue, strange I know, but true. Not sure she's even seen it as yet, no signs of activity next door yet. I'm not even sure it is aimed at her, and I am still not sure who's cars are in the garage, Mom and daughter's? or Mom's and Dad's with daughter out prowling around all night, can't say.

Not that it really concerns me. It doesn't, except she's hot, and if she was divorced, I'd do her in a NY minute, lol. (the Mom)

well, I may have totally missed the mark on my hypothesis. His 4 X 4 was still in the garage earlier today, so maybe the daughter didn't come home last night. Well, actually tonight Kimberly said she heard her come in at 1:30 AM, then leave again. Sounds like the kid has some issues, of which smoking is one of them. Probably drugs too.

Subject: Sperm Count

A 75-year-old man went to his doctor to get a sperm count. The Dr. gave him a jar, sent him home and told him to bring back a semen sample tomorrow.
The next day, the 75-year-old man returned to the doctor's office and gave him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day.
The doctor asked what happened, and the man explained, "Well, doc, it's like this. .. First I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing.
Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand, then her left, still nothing. She even tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, and still nothing.
We even called up Arlene, the lady next door, and she tried too, first with both hands, then an armpit, and she even tried squeezing it between her knees, but still nothing."

The doctor was shocked. "You asked your neighbor!!??"
The old man replied, "Yep, but no matter what all three of us tried, with our arthritis, we still couldn't get the jar open."

A good one!

David, Happy B-day! What kind of effects did you end up seeing there at your house? Any water or damage at all?

I'm highly considering going to CES. If I could, I'd go to each CEDIA, CES, and SEMA, just because conventions like that are fun and you get to see some cool stuff. I was able to make it to every Frankfurt Auto Show since 1999, but missed the one this year by one day. (I had to come home from my last flight mission one day before it opened)

Anyway, if I'm able to go to CES, I'll let you guys know. I'd very much like to meet all the people in the A/V industry that I've corresponded with over the last 4 years.

Couldn't believe my local grocer actually had an assortment of fresh herbs that went beyond Basil & Thyme. Grabbed some fresh sage that I put in the pot along with some marjoram to make a nice green oil. Fresh Mozz from the Deli, a couple loaves of day-old for croutons, mesclun mix, and a bag of very cherry/tangerine jelly belly beans (no Dr. Pepper flavored the bastards!)...

Maybe it's just me, but I'm not seeing any insider information in that, other than using the word "we" instead of "I".

Morning!

Trevor - Those pics look amazing... they must be rendered shots. If those are actual game shots excuse me while I go and change my pants!

I'd get your whole family in the car first before deciding whether or not the rear seats are practical. Nice to see you're sticking with a convertible though, damn do I miss my old beater rag-top!

Any person that is a non advertiser is an individual while at this forum, he's not a "WE", unless he's talking about some group other than a commercial AV group. He's not part of a commercial concern as far as HTG goes, just the same as I've applied rules in the past to others including a few that post to TTP. If the rules were tight for others, the rules will be that much tighter for former moderators here, given past positions, and they will always be advised of that fact right up front.

I've said all I am saying in this, and the topic is not up for debate.

Morning folks... sorry I haven't been posting here much, things are crazy busy lately with the house and everything. Now we're looking at probably late October to move in. Hopefully. Of course, everything always takes longer than expected, but I really hope it doesn't slip into November. That's when holiday HE77 starts. We have carpets picked out (had to go cheaper than we would have liked, so we wouldn't have to pay a ton of extra $), lights are in (but not yet installed), and we picked out some furniture (bedroom set and a sofa for the HT room).

Wow, Trev, nice car. Is that $67,900 the original sticker or what you'd have to pay for it? 8O Ouch. I'll consider myself VERY fortunate if my next car cost half that much, brand new. As it is, you can probably buy 3 brand-new Saturns for that. (note, I'm not taking Can/US exchange rates into account).

Cool TV too... 1080p, nice. There are some nice DLPs out there now. We were furniture shopping yesterday and the sectional sofa we decided to buy for the HT was displayed in front of a Philips DLP that put out a nice picture.

Happy Birthday David!

Howdy to everyone else I missed...

Nice M3 Trev, that would be a fun car to take the Family out joy riding in :yesnod:

$67.9K is a seems a tad high for a car with 50,000 kms though  They must have driven it through winters as well.

Shane Martin

David,
An M3 Convertible new runs $90,000 Canadian or $77,000ish US. The exact same car optioned out the same way in the US runs get this $64.000 US or $74k Canadian.

That ain't right. Seems Canadians are getting the Hose up the ass there. And I'm not figuring in Taxes and Tag either which are likely higher in Canada.

Do the comparison yourself between BMWusa.com and bmw.ca. I did a Carbon black metallic with black top, 19" wheels, Nav system, 6 disc changer, cold weather package. Otherwise the options are the same. Would make sense if you wanted a Bmw, to drive across the border.

I used Xe.com as my currency converter: http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi

Pulled some maintenance on the roadbeast today. My serpentine belt has been squealing off and on, and tightening/roughening didn't help, so I swapped a new one in along with a power steering belt while I was at it. Problem solved. Also had a slow-leak in one of my rear tires, I was in a rush last time I put a "new" (read junkyard) set on, and didn't replace the valve stems. Just swapped a new rim/tire on, as I didn't feel like firing up the club tire changer/balancing/etc.

Just mushed my fingers up some more practicing my geetar too. :duh: owww...

Fired up some charcoal with the acetylene torches, and cooked them down with an oxygen feed into the bottom breather... :B

Are they "in-game"...?!?!?
Yep. I'm working out some details to afford one now. The one we all want will be $399 US. The cheaper $299 makes no sense given for $100 more you get a 20 gig HDD, Wireless controller, headset for xboxlive and component cables. That's ~$150 in accessories for $100 more. Several places are doing bundles. I heard Costco has a good one but I have no costco within 5 hrs of me. Walmart has one but I hate to support the evil empire.

Considering the horsepower it has, it's not surprising. It also is watercooled on the processor. The fans I heard are inaudible but run all the time. Luckily I have an open rack.

The media center is also standard which is sweet. I can stream mp3's from my computer via this thing to my HT. It also upscales all games to what resolution you select so right now I can't play even say hockey in HD because my set won't accept 720p but I can now upscale it to 1080I :)

That said, the games coming for PS3 might even look better.

Just to comment on the car prices.

In Canada we have always paid more for cars. Some is due to exchange rate as well as the company sets prices at forward rates, not current rates. Also, our market is smaller, and we pay for that as well. We also have different crash testing and that adds to the cost of a car. That's why we won't see the VW Golf R32 in Canada, VW doesn't want to spend the money to get the R32 rated for Canada's tougher bumper tests.

In the past 2 years our currency has appreciated by leaps and bounds! You would think it would be logical that our prices would come down. Doing the comparison on the BMW US vs Can, the exchange rate is like $1.41! When the current exchange is like $1.18.

We've always been taking it up the rear when it comes to comparing prices. I would seriously consider going down to Bellingham and buying used.

Let's take a look at the A3 with DSG
Lava Gray Pearl
Leather
Sport package
Cold weather package
Sound package
Open sky system
17" 16-spoke bi-colour cast alloy wheels w/225/45 R17 Performance tires
Xenon headlights
Convenience package

C$43,800 vs U$33,065

Hmmm Xbox360! I waited 2 years before I got my Xbox, I'll probably do the same with the 360. I want one, and probably the PS3 as well. :)

He wanted a truck. She wanted a fast little sports-like car so she could zip through traffic around town.

He would probably have settled on any beat up old truck, but everything she seemed to like was way out of their price range.

"Look!" she said. "I want something that goes from 0 to 200 in just a few seconds. Nothing else will do. My birthday is coming up so surprise me!"

Well I got my wife an IPOD a few months ago, but we have never hooked it up to her computer. And today I have a dentist appt. Sooooo.....I liberated her IPOD and dumped a bunch of songs to it so that I can cover the sound of the drill! :T That thing is pretty cool. I have played with this a little in the past, but never owned one myself. Pretty nice GIG!

Chris- You should have your AVI guys hook you up with "Snap FM" :T Allow me to explain!.....

Take an old DC (David Clarke) Head Set, Cut off the cable and trash the headset, have the AV guys solder the transmit wires to a 1/8 inch stereo Jack. Hook up CD player, IPOD etc to the 1/8 inch jack, and then plug it into the ICS of the plane in either the RACKEM or LACKEM stations. (Not sure if that is the correct spelling of the seats but I think you understand) Play it over the "Private Chan" and then every one in the crew can either select it, or not. Turn their own volume up or down! If you do not have a PVT Chan, then you can use "Hot Mic" and have people either select to listen to Hot Mic or not. Leave the rest of the Crew on VOX. Just about all the FE's have said cable, and it really helps out on long ONAV's! :thanku:

Morning Gang. Just got back from taking my buddy Cam to the Air Port. He had a 6:25 flight out. It was a great weekend of movies, tech and lots of FOoood

Cam is one heck of an Electrical Engineer, he was able to fix my blown Bryston for $16 bucks worth of parts. :T Last time it cost me $200 for the same problems, when I took it to my local repair depot, and they did a real hack job on it.

Chris, Dell gave me a brand new 9300 Inspiron for all the hassles I have had with my i8500 :T

Nick, Here are some quick snaps of it compared to Cam's D800 Latitude (which is the same size as my i8500, 15" Widescreen)

http://www.htguide.com/forum/attachment.php4?attachmentid=4410&stc=1

http://www.htguide.com/forum/attachment.php4?attachmentid=4411&stc=1

http://www.htguide.com/forum/attachment.php4?attachmentid=4412&stc=1

It's quite a bit bigger, however the 17" widescreen at 1920x1200 resolution is a dream to work with. The penalty is the bigger footprint of it, however it does seem lighter than my old LT, or the same weight when compared to Cam's D800.

I didn't get the 256mb 5800 graphics card as I was lend to believe, they shipped it with the 128mb ATI X300, however they did ship it with a 2.0 Ghz Mobile Centrino :T :T

The carry bag is love or hate..... :scratchhead:

I suppose in the end like everyone is saying, I'm just happy I have a newer faster Dell that seems to work (so far  )

I'm worried about the Blu-Ray/HD-DVD competition though.
Well Playstation 3 will have a Blu ray Drive and there are rumors of an HD DVD drive in the future production runs of the 360. This rumor seems more true now that Microsoft has officially aligned itself with HD DVD. Intel did as well. Not good news for Blu Ray.

Then again I've lost track of the number of failed Sony products. SACD, Betamax, Minidisc etc.

Guys, it's simple really, if you want people to be able to come to TTP from work, they can't be displaying images like that, regardless of how seemingly "accepted" they may be from a morality standpoint as in not going over some particular limit of showing whatever. They are just not appropriate for a professional environment.

It's fine for guys that are at home, but not at work during the day M-F IMO, so I wiped them.

'And then came the Atom. Watching it leave the line was like watching a controlled explosion. It had such an overwhelming surfeit of power its driver didn't even bother using first gear. He simply seleclected second, dropped the clutch and disappeared. On the surface we'd have been stunned if it had hit 60mph in 3.1 sec but, when all six runs were completed, these were the numbers we were faced with: the 'slow' run into the wind took 2.94 sec, the return just 2.88 sec, to give an average 0-60mph of 2.91 sec.'

Here's a good rule of thumb. If you have to ask yourself if it's clean enough? Then it's not for M-F days... Bing, I'm sure our general rules are different right now, you being home based, and me being state computer based. I'll always tend to the conservative side here. It's my job on the line possibly in how I conduct myself. I think this is true of others as well.

JimmyP is pulling out as advertiser here at month end, and wound up doing some other things that could be seen as competitive to our efforts here. I'll just say it's sort of like a divorce I guess. It's hard to live in the same house after a divorce.

Ironic that I'd speak of divorce today, my anniversary to Beverly, were we still married. I suppose I should send her a dozen stems with thorns today huh? No pedals, lol.

I noticed Danica doing a commercial for Honda last night. She was ripping it up in the car, and got pulled over. She was preparing to sweet talk her way out of a ticket checking her "gear", then a woman cop comes up to the door. Quite funny commercial actually. Danica looked extremely hot in it too.

Bing "A Tape Measure in Every Room" Fung: Nice laptop! :T I need a new one, or at least one that isn't ancient as far as 'puters go.

Darn, I missed the "illegal" pics. Always happens when I'm at work.

I haven't gotten into the iPod thing yet either. Instead, I'm using one of Sony's failed formats, Minidisc. It's far more versatile IMHO, especially for mic recordings and dubbing from CDs, which is most of what I do with it. I guess I'm a sucker for failed Sony formats. I bought into SACD too. I had a 2 channel SACD in my old system. I'll have a universal player in my new HT. It's been sitting in a box for 7 months.

Top gear is the best! I've got a bunch of episodes on HD.

Fifth gear is pretty good as well, but not as fun.

I'm starting to look for a laptop for my wife. I just don't know what's wrong with the instant off. I thought it might have been heat realted, but the past few times it shut off, it was pretty cool. I haven't had the time to open it up to see if there are any loose connections.

I think it would be easier to just replace the unit.

Jason: I will have to PM you. I am pretty serious. We have thought she might make do, but I don't have the time to sit and diagnose the laptop problem, and I don't really want to pay someone $50/hr to sit and wait for it to die. Plus it's a pretty slow machine.

She really want's a laptop with a docking station. I'm thinking a Centrino, dedicated video chipset, DVDRW capable, min 512 Ram, at least 80G hd. A small screen is okay, as it will be connected to a nice 17" LCD monitor, or it will be setup as a dual display.

All subject to financing. :) Once those banks finally get things straightened out.

Bing: Thanks, that's the one. Now, your mission, should you choose to accept is to find the pic of the one watch that was within my grasp.

I don't recall the model number, but it was a Tag, titanium chronograph, automatic movement. This was a bit chunky, but it was light, that's how I knew for sure it was all titanium. I had a chance to buy it on a trip to Hong Kong, this was back in 1990. Instead I bought my current Tag, a second sport Tag and a toy Casio that took my pulse. Today, I would have forgone buying those other two and just spent the extra for the titanium. :) Oh well, I'll just have to wait a while longer.

First let me say that I hardly ever get to use it any more. THe New KC-130 is all digital like Chris's plane. Soooo no more Man power work. But here is how it goes. One of the main things that I use it for is to calculate Fuel Burn and Time remaining. So you can spin the dial to 1200 o'clock for what ever your Hourly fuel burn is. Then you can see how much fuel you are going to burn for a given set of time. Or any varation of that. Basically it is a calcualtor. So when you are flying around Giving fuel away, and the AC ask how much fuel will we have left in an hour....just look at the watch and tell him the answer. If you are burning oil, you can also see how much flight time you have till you get to a low oil state.....how many miles you can travel in a certain time....and the list goes on.

Pretty cool thing. My first watch that had all that stuff was a Citizen....

Not a big fan of Tag. If I was going to Upgrade from Seiko I would have to go with Rolex. The Tag just does not hold resale value like the Rolex. At least that is what I am told any ways. When I was looking for a pic of my Seiko I was PISSED  I was the first one to buy it from Reeds. I talked them down 25% and I still paid 650 bucks for the watch. Now you can get it for under 300. I am not sure if it is a real one but I think it is. :nonod: makes me feel ripped off. :yesnod: Kind of like some of our AV equipment. Or even worse computers. Quartz Tags use a Seiko Quartz movements or the same manaufacture makes movents for both houses  In fact, very few watch companies make their own movements these days.

Patek, Omega, Bell & Ross (Sinn), Rolex, are just a handful... Thats why Mechanical watches will hold their value much more than a Quartz will.

Snap: Thanks for the quick lesson. I'm still :?? Looks like everything is based on the hour hand or minute hand. The markings are constants? I can figure out how my watch works for the diving bezel. :)

Bing: It wasn't the Kirum, that's for sure. The pic is pretty close, and might actually be the one. You know how time plays tricks on memories. I just seem to recall that the hands were silver, but they could have been gold. Thanks Snap, I know what you mean about dress watches. I've got a Longines, the thin watch, very nice and elegant. I've only worn it about a dozen times and I've had it for about 12 years! I still have it and don't see myself putting it up for sale. I would still wear it if I had something super fancy to go to. I've always wanted a Movado, the black with the gold dot. But now it's not a need to have anymore.

Speaking of light watches, I do have a casual titanium watch. It's a Hamilton that I bought the same time as my Longines. I wear that when I have to have my batteries replaced in my Tag. Everytime I put back my Tag, it seems like my arm gets a workout!

It took me a good 30 seconds to find TTP tonight!

Kev: Well, actually, I sync my watch to the global GPS time clocks, which are pretty much an atomic clock system, every time I go fly.

Snap, actually, I had that Citizen watch, too, until it wore out. Now I use the model that replaced it, the Citizen Skyhawk. Don't have time to search for a pic now.

As for plugging in a CD player to the aircraft intercom, I'd love to do it. The AF, though, has specific regs against that, so you'd have to be pretty careful who's watching.

Oh, nice Tag there Paul. Classuc rugged look. I rarely wear the Seiko now, it's usually the Rolex. You have to wear it daily as it's a self winder. If you don't, then you have to reset everything. I will wear the Seiko for a beater if I am planning to work.

Lex... I meant to mention to ya earlier... congrats to your VOL's on that fantastic comeback over LSU. That was remarkable!

Hi gang, happy Wednesday. :sn:

Sweet watches! I guess I'm a bit more utilitarian on timepieces than y'all.

My "good" watch is an older Seiko

My "knock around" one is a Swiss Army Renegade

David, be sure to tell him there's a replay on ESPN at 8:00 on Thursday in case he wants to see the first half again. ;) Thanks Sonnie. You know after 17 straight trips to only be turned away from the end zone, it was about time in that second half! ESPN dubbed the game an instant classic.

George, dude, what's up? Hey, they started this watch talk, I just had to finally show Dad's Rolex. You really can't see the pure beauty of this watch. The black looking base on it is actually swirled similar to carbon look. It's difficult to photograph. They don't make that face available now on the Date Just.

I really loved my Seiko all the years I wore it. It was the best watch I'd ever had, including a Buluva I had once. I got a great deal on the Seiko Chronograph at Service Merchandise. I guess they wanted to move it, as they gave me the best sale price even though it wasn't on sale at the time.

Once owned a Seiko. Was a great watch.

I have the Blue Angels Skyhawk Eco Drive Titanium. I originally had the SS version, but it was so heavy, my wife purchased it as a Christmas present. She said if you don't won't it you can take it back. I immediately went on the web found the Titanium version for the same price or lower. The rest is history.

I can dress it up or down, I love the flexibility of this timepiece, and no batteries :T .

The irony of the story, she now owns an eco drive as well, go figure.

Just my story,

Azeke

P.S. There you go David, finally my first post here. I was just waiting for the right opportunity :) .

Been watching some of the new shows these last couple of weeks.
There are some really good ones.

*Lost
*Supernatural
*Invasion
These so far are excellent!

*Surface
Not sure, kind of cool, but kind of silly.
Too early to tell.
*Bones
May be good, but kind of boring a little so far.

*Ghost Whisperer
Wanted to see this one, but missed recording it.

*Survivor, Apprentice are still 2 that I like.

*CSI, Like all 3

*Apprentice Martha Stewart.
First episode was interesting due to the guy who ended up
getting let go..Still have to see what happens going forward
in order to know if I would continue recording this one.

Anyways,,Lot's of great TV unlike 2-3 years ago.
And Thumbs up for PVR Satellite ..:T:T

So what stadium was that I was at Trev?

What is with that brunette on the left? You seem to be pimping her a lot  Who is she and whats her claim to fame? Other than those built in life preservers

The blonde in the middle is kinda cute, the one on the left seems to be sticking out her chest too far to make up for Trev's girl ;)

We watched Martha Apprentice too Trev :yesnod: Christine is a huge Martha fan.

Looking forward to the cover Sonnie :T I was thinking the Leather looked nice too, but then said, what was I even thinking :scratchhead:  Carbon! ;)

Afternoon!

Those look like some serious watches! Personally, I haven't owned a watch since I was 8 years old. I need to get one for flying though eventually (or atleast a stopwatch). I'd like a simple stopwatch unit with a large display and soft cloth wristband.
-----
A guy I know is thinking about setting up a purchase for a recently deceased pilot's plane at my local airport. If he is offered the discounted price, he is thinking about splitting the costs 3 ways. Today he asked me and a very good friend of mine (who is a pilot) if we might be interested in purchasing a 1/3 share each. We each work a different shift (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) and my good friend probably would only fly when I fly, so I would essentially have unlimited access to it. It's a Cessna Cardinal in mint shape with only a couple thousand total hours. Market value is about ~$70k, but because this guy was good friends with the deceased pilot, he may be given an offer around $30k. This means $10k for nearly unlimited access to a $70k cadillac of the sky. I'm really thinking about signing on if it's offered to this guy. Depending on the loan, we would each put ~$1k down and pay ~$250/mo for 3yrs. Ooooohhhh I'm so tempted...

This isn't the actual plane, but is nearly identical except for color.

David, nice flip pic....looks like he's going pretty slow though... just out for a Sunday fly...

Trev, I'm going out on a limb here but... LOST IS THE BEST TV SHOW EVERRRRRR!!!!!!!! :B :yesnod: If any of you guys aren't watching it.... start!

The rest of the new shows don't seem to be catching me though. My Name Is Earl was pretty good last week but it was on against Amazing Race last night so it got skipped. Everybody Hates Chris was also pretty good (taped it last week) but it's on the same time as Lost so you can guess which one gets priority  Too tired for Supernatural and Invasion but they seem to all be mooching off Lost's success so....

Here's a nice garage. (http://www.ultimategarage.com/UltGar2y.htm)

Keep scrolling through the page and you will see. :)

While my first garage project (built in 1994, see "before" picture below) demonstrates an effective makeover of a standard 3 car garage, the workshop was limited in functionality due to it's size (20'x20') and relatively low ceiling height. A low or mid-rise lift would work in this space but I've painfully learned over the past few years that any serious shop must have a full-rise lift.

The current project is the culmination of the latest technology combined with knowledge from the past 9 years as a garage designer and consultant. The construction entails the consolidation of two standard size (10'x20') garage bays along with a small (12'x20') bump-out to yield a generous size workshop capable of comfortably housing a full rise automotive lift. The new garage, still only 1280 sq ft in size, offers generous working space and amenities and can provide parking/storage for up to 5 vehicles. The details and technology evident in this transformation demonstrate why Ultimate Garage stands above its competition.

And discuss.

Bing's gonna be poopin' carbon fib[er|re] at the rate he's going. :toilet:

I might have to check out some of these new shows (Supernatural sounds interesting) once I have a TV worth watching anything on, aka the plasmer by Panny, and a house to put the TV worth watching anything on in. Not to mention all the other stuff that goes with the TV: speakers, pre-pro, amps, sub, cables (oops, time to give Doug a heads-up on what I'll need!), etc. etc.

Carbon

I think it looks nice. It's not really Carbon Fiber (not that I expected it to be) however it will be interesting to see how it stands up to scratches over time. If anything, it covers and protects the main cover, so that's a good thing, and it looks good while doing it, I do say so myself :T

David - I'll have to wait and see how it all unfolds. Not getting my hopes up, but it sure would be nice to fly a 177 whenever I felt like taking a trip! Being able to just drive 5mins to the airport, hop in, and take off is definetly the nice thing about owning a plane, even with 1 or 2 other people. I could get out of work on a tuesday morning around 7am, and be sitting on the beach on Martha's Vineyard by 8am! Have a nice brunch, relax, and fly home, all by lunch time. I'd really like to get in on this 177 or even a 172 because it can haul four people, has a much wider cabin, and goes faster than a 152. If I have to go for everything on my own, a 152 (what I'm training in) is all I can afford to fly on a regular weekly basis rather than once or twice a month like some guys do who have uber-expensive upkeep/running costs.
-----
Bing - Aerobatics involves some serious "energy management". I'd like to take some aerobatic lessons just for the severe unusual attitude experience.

Carbon-Fiber! :-y Is it real?
-----
Just got the Wusthof Le Cordon Bleu 8"CK in. I dragged it crosswise against my arm just to check the sharpness of the factory grind, and it shaved a 2" strip of hair from my arm... I guess they make sure it's sharp from the factory!

Nice knife. Rivet/Bolster/Handle seams are all perfectly flush, nice construction. The Cordon Bleu edition has a half-bolster and thinner blade. It allows full use of the blade all the way to the rear, and is a bit lighter than the Classic style I handled in the cutlery store a few weeks ago (which I thought was a bit heavy for serious kitchen duty). Overall I'm happy with it, but I still haven't found that "perfect" knife. I dunno, maybe I'm too fussy... :B I needed something to replace my old beat-up 8" CK though. This will do quite nicely...

Cool on the knife :T I think a chef will always have a few knifes in the block  Keep looking :)
