Hi, guys... I WAS going to write about watching the Colorado Avalanche completely dominate their first game over the Blackhawks on the HD Net channel. Looked awesome. But then they dropped game 2 to the St Louis Blues, so...
Good sport games today. I hope to make a special trip tomorrow for some "goodies"... we'll see.

It's fitting...he's always got some sort of repair. At least he didn't have any major facial scratches or bruises that day...which is more the norm.
Here's another of Matt and Nick being goofy...what the getup is all about is beyond me but I snapped it anyway cause it gave me a chuckle:

Mind you, the oldest has his share of bumps and bruises. Just before church yesterday we had to skip because Matt slipped on the stairs (fooling around) and fell down and hit a drywall corner and split his head open. They (the clinic) superglued his head back together. Matt thought that was really cool, and I guess, made it all worthwhile.

Good Morning Guys!!! :later:
Well,,
"HAPPY THANKSGIVINGS" to all my Canadian freinds as today is officially Thanksgivings day.
In Canada, most family's get together through the weekend for a turkey dinner. Since it such a huge feast most have it on Sunday and enjoy the left overs on Monday and also use Monday as the travel back to home day. :P
After that, it's turkey sandwiches for the rest of the week.:yesnod:

Cute pictures Gordon.
I bet the first one with Nick was difficult to get him to hold that pose.
I just remember how hard it was for my girls at that age to hold still.
Now, they just love possing to get thier pictures snapped.
Chris,,Bummer on the Av's loss.
I certainly didn't expect that.
I bought a ProLine ticket yesterday and picked Minnesota, Anahiem and Colorado to win...They all lost.
The only game I got right was LA beating Chicago.
I wagered $5 thinking it was a sure thing.

Yesterday's ThanksGiving's supper was actually very special in such that in attendance was only my immediate family. Meaning Tracey, Tori ,Taylor and myself. Usually we have company.
Anyways, at the start of our supper , we had a toast in which I relected on how lucky we are and the great fmaily that we are ETC,,,Then Tori says, I would like to make a cheers to our Beautiful Mom and our Loveable Dad...
That was so sweet and unexpected..Sure made me proud though.
We have our special occasion meals in our dining room , this was only the fourth time time to use the dining room since we moved to our new home..

I'm sure it won't be long Eduardo and you'll have HDTV.... once you have it you won't be able to do without it... it's that good.
I'm excited about the possibilities of VOOM too!
Beautiful room pics Trev.
Nice pics Gordon.... some friends of ours were over last night and he used super glue on a cut of his. Seems like I remember that stuff initially being used for soldiers in the military when they got cuts.
Welp, my "Who's ya daddy?" recliner is going back to the showroom today and being swapped out for the next smaller size. Angibug says it's just toooooo big for our room. It's makes our other furniture look tiny. I really didn't realize it on the showroom but it is rather big. She says I look like I have a clam wrapped around me when I'm sitting in it. lol

Hope everybody had a nice Thanksgiving! I'm off to a family day tonight. Looking forward to some good food and a FPTV experience! I just wish I had a copy of Matrix: Reloaded to watch!
Had a great time teaching over the weekend. It's always a great feeling reading student evaluations. Regardless if the passed the exam or not, they have some great things to say. I liked the one from a student that had taken some university level corses, he said I'm better than half his professors. Wow 8O. Maybee this teaching this is for me? I've always wondered about becoming a teacher in the past. We'll see what happens in the future.
I miss you guys. I wish I could post more, but my time on the computer has become very limited. Yes I lurk, but it's not the same as posting. :(
Business it going well. Got a nice company presentation lined up later this month. :) And we're going to visit a successful couple on Vancouver Island and learn how they work the business.
Oh, I must mention my cousins subwoofer. Once calibrated, we noticed a huge roll off after 30hz. It's a Def Tech 15" but I don't recall the model. Now he's looking to get a new sub. I may lend him one of my SVS to compare.

Hi, guys... the "Holiday" weekend's over, I suppose. I had to work most of the weekend myself. I think I'm going out to San Francisco on Wednesday for a few days.
Glad to hear about your dad, Lex. Keep your chin up.
Made a trip down to Portland today, to the Audio Source people at Pheonix Gold and Carver Professional. Picked up 6 of these babies:
http://www.audiosource.net/amp53.jpg http://ftp://208.187.38.55/C:/FTP%20Folder/Audiosource/Images/MISC%20Images/Amp%205.3.jpg
http://ftp://208.187.38.55/Audiosource/Images/MISC Images/5.3 x 3 sharp better.jpg
Modular mono 250W amplifiers. I'm going to use them to drive my tactile transducers in the theater seating. These babies are perfect for the job--each person will have their own "volume" knob to turn the tactile effects up or down for each seat individually. And you can daisy-chain the amplifiers to each other, passing a signal through each one, so I don't have to split the signal over and over again to go to 6 different amps.
Now I just need a finished theater room to put all this stuff in!
(Hmmm... I guess you can't show an image stored on a FTP website?) Dang... well, I guess you guys can pull up the images yourself, if you really want to see them:

Happy anniversary EJ! Time flies doesn't it. It's been 6 and a half years for me now. Still feels like yesterday.
Not much new to report... still in my crappy cubicle in my crappy job, my back hurts from the weekend (not sure what I did, but my muscles are SORE), and just not up to posting much these days. I picked up Reloaded today during lunch. We did a HT install on Saturday, at the big cheese's house, I set up a Zenith Pro895X CRT PJ and it looks great.

Yesterday I could barely move, and today isn't much better. If I move around it gets better but then if I sit for a while, trying to get up is ouchouchouch... :?? Time for a :boozer:

HAPPY HUMP DAY - as you know my favorite day of the week.
Thank you everyone for your kind words. I did something last night that I have been threatening to do for a long time ..... I updated my resume and sent it out. We'll see how it turns out. I've become complacent with my current job. And I don't forsee much growth in the future.

Trev - we started trying and hopefully soon we'll have a bundle of joy on the way.I guess I have to work on you now, don't I? Let's start with this simple fact, that it costs approximately half a MILLION to raise a kid nowadays, from birth to college. That's your dream house right there, or retirement. Maybe Trevor can loan you the cash over the next 21 years? :)
Or borrow someone's hyperactive 2 year old for a couple days. You'll change your mind fast!

Dude...jealousy is one of the deadly sins ;) Don't get hung up on it :)
Look at it this way...
Those supercars are nice looking but the sports cars and SUV's (puke...waste of cash) are getting more and more fuel IN-efficient. It's kind of a joke. The automakers say the market demands it and I say horse manure. The oil companies are (and I'm speculating here) putting pressure to SLOW the development of alternate fuel cars because they aren't sure how to make money off of them. Face it, the bigger the vehicle, the bigger the gas bill. I don't even buy the "If I can pay for it, then I can pay for the gas" analogy. It's such a joke when I'm on the bus and I see Mr. Businessman driving his Lincoln Navigator to work and he's the only guy in there.
Don't get me started on all these parents that DRIVE their kids to school in the morning. Doesn't anyone walk or bike anymore????? That's such a joke! Laziness is all it is. And then we wonder why kids are fatter than ever.
And dream houses aren't everything. New homes are known to be extremely toxic these days for at least the first five -seven years because of all the paint, glue, caulking, etc.. in the construction (builders rarely use plywood any more). They are sealed up super tight and are MORE susceptible to radon (cancer causing) gases than a leakier home. Sealed so tight that fresh air vents are required in R2000 + homes.
Killer Hometheater....hmmm, nope, no arguements there :D
There's talk of bringing in some new consumption taxes and luxary taxes into this city. I say go for it....you won't affect me in the least except to lower my property taxes even further! Wahoo....I didn't think I could pay less....this will be a great thing for me. So to all those SUV owners, alcohol drinkers, and non-recyclers/composters out there THANKS! :T

Kevin ...raising a child is so far, the most rewarding job I've ever had and the worst all rolled into one. It's a thankless task but it's internally something sooo special that you truely don't understand it until you do it yourself. I'm not saying that it's for everyone. But you should be more supportive of the ones that CHOOSE to take on this most important life career. It really does take a village to raise a child...think about that.
If I mis-read what you are trying to say...then I apologize upfront.

Kathy made me choose my x-mas gift, Indy box + Reloaded or the tool chest that was $90 off at Ukrainian Tire in their recent flyer. I chose the tool chest. It was too good a deal to pass on. Ah well, Indy's not limited edition and I can rent it anytime I want for significantly less money ($1 at Shell or Video Cellar). That and I get my X-Mas gift now....which is fine by me because the presents thing is more for the kids now anyway. I get too much stuff for myself in the year anywhoo.

Hey I'm just trying to save the human race from itself... can't blame me for trying. :)
(Extended environmental issues rant removed, as I decided it was a waste of electrons)
Not having kids is the single smartest decision I ever made. Not just for myself but for the long term health of the planet. Yes, I was 12 years old when I first made this decision and nothing in 25 years since has made me reconsider it. :) Kids are plentiful, I can always borrow one if I need a fix.

I don't see a problem with having a kid or two here in the developed world...its a bigger issue where families are having more then two esp in countries with health propblems and or over population. Its not necessarily fair but its true. Your arguement is like saying don't not finish your dinner because there's starving people in Ethiopia...the two really don't have any relationship to the the other. That's not to say I don't support your choice not to have a family though as kids aren't for everyone and I'd much rather see people that didn't want or know how to look after kids have them anyway. My mother's a foster mum that takes in kids from Toronto so I've hear way to much about people that shouldn't have kids having them anyway

I think Agent Smith sums it up quite well in The Matrix:I'd like to share a revelation that I've had during my time here. It came to me when I tried to classify your species. I realized that you're not actually mammals. Every mammal on this planet instinctively develops a natural equilibrium with the surrounding environment, but you humans do not. You move to an area, and you multiply, and multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet, you are a plague, and we are the cure. While I'm not advocating that humans should be wiped out or turned into Duracells to power the machines (well, there is my idea of somehow harnessing the incredible amount of kinetic energy in children and use it to generate electricity), the human race's tendency to multiply beyond the environment's ability to sustain said growth is accurate.
I'm merely observing that the equilibrium is unbalanced, and by refusing to reproduce (and encouraging others to do the same) am attempting to restore said equilibrium. Unfortunately I can't do it all myself, but every little bit helps. If humans happened to be an "endangered species" I would be encouraging reproduction and doing it myself as well.
I also know I could never afford to properly raise them, therefore I'm doing more good by not having them than by having them.

The gene pool could use a good chlorine shock treatment right about now, as the algae is taking over and the water is looking green. 8O
I think one time I mentioned my idea that would solve 90% of the world's problems and get the space program going again. Take all the idiots and send them to Mars. The idiots cause most of the problems, and most of the pollution, so getting them off the planet would be beneficial to everyone. And since there are so many of them, it would bring the earth's population down to a more reasonable level. Last but not least, all the greenhouse gases the idiots produce (yes, we would have to ship their SUVs as well) would enable Mars to establish an atmosphere and liquid water and it would thrive, and even a planet full of idiots are unlikely to be causing problems here from millions of miles away. :)
Oh, and how convenient is this! Mars is still pretty close, having been the closest it's been in 50,000 years. No better time to get the idiots up there!

Then again I don't totally disagree. I wouldn't have "stepped up" and snip snipped after having 2 kids if I didn't. Our hands are full with 2. Even if money was "no object" the most I'd have is 3. My Dad came from a family of 10 all stuffed in what would amount to a really small house for 10 people (well 12 actually, 9 brothers 1 sister Grandma and Grandpa) I have LOTS of cousins. He explained it that when you were poor (partly because you had 10 kids) you had big families because the kids worked and helped pay for things.

You're right, there are too many cats around, which is why mine are spayed/neutered. If I *didn't* take them in, and they became strays, they wouldn't be fixed and could conceivably be contributing to the kitty overpopulation. Instead, they have a good home and they aren't making kittens that the world doesn't need.
Whoops, I got the flip, and not even on purpose... ok, while on the topic, here's one of my babies I rescued from a life of being an unwanted kitty making more unwanted kitties:

Not too bad, thanks for asking, Eduardo! We're due in early to mid January. E is just a bit ahead of us on the timeline.
Gordon, I hear you on the "raise your kid" issue. As far as needing exercise, I wholeheartedly agree--I'll be encouraging my kid to be active, whether he/she chooses to play sports, go walk, play in the dirt, ride a bike, or whatever. But unless we live across the street from a school (which I don't think I would want at all) I'm not sure I'm going to be encouraging or letting my kid walk to school. Nowadays, I'd just be sort of worried about security, having something happen to my kid on the way to school or have a weirdo stop them on the way.
BTW, Dogs rule...

Kev, me too--I walked 1/4 mile down my dirt road to get to the bus stop, then took a 30 min bus ride to school. Same on the way home. I'd sure be okay with my kids doing that too, as long as we leave in an area where I feel safe about them walking. If they have to go by crack dealers, Bose dealerships, or punk rockers, I don't want them in that environment. Heck, I don't want ME in that environment--I'd probably move!

Yeah Chris...I hear your point....Obviously walking to school is dictated by where you live. Heck walking with them wouldn't be too bad for dear old dad either. I'll cross that road when I get there. Our biggest concern right now is French immersion or all english. Who'da thought choosing kindergarten would be sooo tough?
The early years (no longer elementary) school that really close by offers something called open classes (where grades 1,2,3 are all in the same class and you get the same teacher for those 3 years...kinda Little House on the Prairie-ish I guess). But you have to sign up for that.
The science and brain development guys say that a 2nd language is easiest to learn from birth to about 10 and then it gets harder because a different area of the brain takes over language. However the French immersion school is kinda far...unfortunately too far for a five -year old to get there....it's a 20 min walk for me and I walk with a quick pace.
I'm leaning towards the French Immersion school (because, why not, how could it be a bad thing???) but then I'm considering taking a French evening class maybe conversational French to help things along (heck I might learn something new...which might be interesting. It could even be fun 8O ).
Decisions, Decisions....

Actually now that I read what I wrote earlier I should qualify it with:
Parenting has been, so far, some of the best (if not the best) experiences of my life and some of the worst (especially at 4 and 2 when you're by yourself at the grocery store I'll be the first to admit that at that moment...they, have the upper hand!). All that said, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
That's my take on it...YMMV

especially at 4 and 2 when you're by yourself at the grocery store I'll be the first to admit that at that moment...they, have the upper hand! That's one of the reasons I would never recommend having more than 2... once #3 comes along, not only are you causing population growth, but you as parents are then outnumbered!
My other recommendation, if having two, is to wait until the first one is old enough to baby-sit, or at least watch for short periods, the second one.
What's ironic is I was #3 in my family. If my parents took the advice I'm giving I would never have been born. :)

I'd agree with that. I didn't start trying to learn French till I moved here at the age of 10 and while I know a fair number of french nouns and a few verbs i didn't absorb it that well. My little sister who started with it at kindergarter and my brother that started in grade 3 are far more fluent then I.
I'm not sure though if I'll put Lauren in french immersion though...we'll see about that when the time comes...she'll be learning ASL soon though so she'll have at least two languages before she starts school...that and she'll have to learn "real" english if she wants to understand my parents:yesnod:...which is something glenda still struggles with

Hey Ladies!
Ok!! Some of you guys are out of control.. :nono: :smackbutt: :smackbutt:
Anyways!! When it comes down to it. The family and people around you are the most important. It's nice to have the means to be able to enjoy the dream cars, dream homes etc..but at the end of the day you really appreciate the people around you, whether it be family, people you work with or your next door neighbor or even your pet. Those are the things that really make you happy and may not even realize it..Unfortunately it only becomes reality when they are no longer there, then you realize it.
I have always said , and will say it again. It could give up all the extras and be just as happy if not happier as long as I have the people around me that I do. In my case, life would become much more simpler with out all the extras..Over time it just adds more responsibilities to an already complicated ,busy world.

Ah the 80's:yesnod: Like E! and I think Chris and Eduardo my highschool days were in the middle to end of the 80's which means we got the great hair bands, miami vice clothing and the dances. I still listen to a lot of 80's music...largely thanks to the TTP 80's mix Joey made for us:T For pretty much all of highschool I had spiked hair and loved Fido Dido t-shirts:) I was more a jock though with most of my time spent playing on the school sports teams and going to dances on the weekend...though I never drank that much...that didn't start till I went to university

I didn't get a chance to watch Matrix Reloaded again yesterday because I listened to Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon SACD and Eagles - Hotel California DVD-Audio. This has to be the next best thing since whatever was before sliced bread. I loved it! I say they need to make concert DVD's this way and it would almost be like being there. Truly awesome!

Life Explained:
On the first day God created the cow. God said, "You must go to field with the farmer all day long and suffer under the sun, have calves and give milk to support the farmer. I will give you a life span of sixty years." The cow said, "That's a kind of a tough life you want me to live for sixty years. Let me have twenty years and I'll give back the other forty."
And God agreed.
On the second day, God created the dog.
God said, "Sit all day by the door of your house and bark at anyone who comes in or walks past. I will give you a life span of twenty years." The dog said, "That's too long to be barking. Give me ten years and I'll give back the other ten."
So God agreed (sigh).
On the third day God created the monkey.
God said, "Entertain people, do monkey tricks, make them laugh. I'll give you a twenty year life span." Monkey said, "How boring, monkey tricks for twenty years? I don't think so. Dog gave you back ten, so that's what I'll do too, okay?"
And God agreed again.
On the fourth day God created man.
God said, "Eat, sleep, play, have sex, enjoy. Do nothing, just enjoy, enjoy. I'll give you twenty years." Man said, "What? Only twenty years? No way, man. Tell you what, I'll take my twenty, and the forty cow gave back, and the ten dog gave back and the ten monkey gave back. That makes eighty, okay?"
"Okay," said God. "You've got a deal."
So that is why for the first twenty years we eat, sleep, play, have sex, enjoy, and do nothing; for the next forty years we slave in the sun to support our family; for the next ten years we do monkey tricks to entertain our grandchildren; and for the last ten years we sit in front of the house and bark at everybody.
Life has now been explained.

Well I had hoped to post good news. :( We woke up to the sound of dripping water! So there's now a nice little stream of water coming from our ceiling. :( We've spend the morning clearing out the bedroom. Now we're taking the opportunity to clean out the rest of our appartment, now that the bedroom is in the other rooms! We gotta sleep somewhere.
We did watch Matrix Reloaded on Tuesday evening on the big screen! Man that was great, awesome detail. Sub was running very boosted, my cousin had to turn it down a bit during the movie. Now I really want to see how my SVS will work in his room.
Well back to cleaning out the rooms.

No, we just rent the ground appartment. All the apartments on the East side, just the one above me and the one above that are affected. We just get the worst cause we're on the bottom. Apparently, the roof is leaking and is coming down through the walls.
I figure it's time to clear off the couch so we can recline those lazyboys and use them as our beds for the time being.

Now for some good new.... I have an intervie on Monday. I really need a new job. I've been having problems getting motivated to do any type of work.

Larry wakes up at home with a huge hangover. He forces himself to open his eyes, and the first thing he sees is a couple of aspirins and a glass of water on the side table.
He sits up and sees his clothing in front of him, all clean and pressed. Larry looks around the room and sees that it is in perfect order, spotless and clean. So is the rest of the house.
He takes the aspirins and notices a note on the table: "Honey, breakfast is on the stove, I left early to go shopping. Love you."
So he goes to the kitchen, and sure enough there is a hot breakfast and the morning newspaper. His son is also at the table, eating.
Larry asks, "Son, what happened last night?" His son says, "Well, you came home after 3 A.M., drunk and delirious, broke some furniture, puked in the hallway, and gave yourself a black eye when you stumbled into the door."
Confused, Larry asks, "So, why is everything in order and so clean, and breakfast is on the table waiting for me?"
His son replies, "Oh, that! Mom dragged you to the bedroom, and when she tried to take your pants off, you said, ‘Lady, leave me alone, I'm married.’”

Since Halloween is on it's way I'm contemplating getting my 70's,80's slasher pic fix by seeing the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre Buzz-a-buzz-a-buzz-buzz-Buzz-Buzz-Buzz
Will have to wait till Sunday.
Some buddies and I might go see what the fuss is about, we'll see. Can't say I've ever seen the Tobe Hooper original...I'm not sure why since that's what inspired all the 80's horror movies Freddy's, Jason's, Michael Myers etc...
Actually if anyone wants to see a good take on the granddaddy of stalkers/slashers (Jack the Ripper) see From Hell. Adapted from the graphic novel. It is disturbing, and intense with an interesting take on who the Ripper really was. The extras shoot down the theory but the extras also include so original photos from the actual Ripper murders  and some really indepth explanations from leading Ripper theorists....really quality stuff. Jack was a very twisted little puppy at the time of his last murder.
Good Halloween type stuff.
For other good Halloween fun:
American Werewolf in London
The Howling
Dracula (Coppola's)
Abbott and Costello meet: The Mummy/Dr.Jeckle and Mr. Hyde/The Invisible Man/ Frankenstein
Dracula (1958 -Christopher Lee) and 1931 (the original Bela Lugosi)
The Fly (Croneberg remake)
The Thing -John Carpenter
The Mummy -1999
Near Dark
Vampires -John Carpenter
From Dusk Till Dawn
PumpkinHead
Halloween
Friday the 13th
Nightmare on Elm Street 1,2,3
976-evil
FrightNight
Creepshow
Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
The Exorcist

I'll think of others...maybe I should start a thread in Movies...

Red Neck Love Poem:
Susie Lee done fell in love;
She planned to marry Joe.
She was so happy 'bout it all
She told her Pappy so.
Pappy told her, "Susie gal,
You'll have to find another.
I'd just as soon yo' Ma don't know,
But Joe is yo' half brother"
So Susie put aside her Joe
And planned to marry Will.
But after telling Pappy this,
He said, "There's trouble still...
You can't marry Will, my gal.
And please don't tell your Mother,
But Will and Joe and several mo'
I know is yo' half brother"
But Mama knew and said, "My child,
Just do what makes yo' happy.
Marry Will or marry Joe
You ain't no kin to Pappy.

Kevin: Congrats on the call! It's about freaking time! Okay practice interview tips. Find out a little about the company, what it does, etc. They'll ask you some lame stuff, your strengths, weaknesses, that kinda stuff. They may ask, when were you in a difficult situation or stressful situation, and how did you handle it? Essentially they want to hear that you can manage the situation and put a decent positive spin, without breaking down and blaming everyone. :) [coughpointyhairbosscough]
When they open up the floor for you to ask questions, make sure you ask some really good ones. For example: I'm not entirely familiar with your industry, I would imagine there's some competition so I was curious, what rank do you see your company in? (You may know this already, or they may have told you in the very beginning) Then follow it up, ie you've been told what rank they are in, In the next 5 years, do you have plans to increase your market share or increase your rankings? This shows you're interested in the company longterm, and you want to make sure they are still around.
That's just some ideas for you. Hope that helps.
Got an industrial size dehumidifier and blower. Carpet is now pretty much dry. Luckily I've got a flexible enough time schedule that I can take care of these things.
Going to a HT show at a local store next week with my cousin. I think he may be in the market for a new sub. I gotta make sure he just doesn't buy the first big boom he hears! :) Oh, and we're gonna laugh as we walk past the Bose room. Why they would carry that in a store that has Pioneer, Linn, Arcam, McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Revel, Runco, Bryston, etc... is beyond me. Well I know, they want the profit margin.
It's been raining pretty hard and it's not expected to let up anytime soon.

Wow, EJ, at first I thought that was some exotic tropical fish, but what was it doing out of water? Then I saw the back of kitty's head. I hope that was done in Photoshop and someone didn't actually dye/paint his cat that way...
Speaking of weird photos, check out this one: Ghost caught on camera phone? (http://www.castleofspirits.com/handphone.html)
The caption reads: "This photo was taken at Eastwood City in Manila through a Nokia 7250, a phone with a camera. These two girls were out for the night and they wanted to have their picture taken. After asking somebody to take their picture, what they saw on the phone's screen shocked them. A ghostly being was beside the girl in right and it appeared to be holding her arm. FREAKY! "
I can't tell if it was faked or not, but if someone took my picture and saw a ghost with her hand on my arm, I might be just a tad freaked out... 8O :E

That is a strange photo.... somebody's doing some neat tricks.
I had a hard time figuring out that the cat was a tropical fish or that it looked like a fish or whatever. All I saw initially was a painted cat.
I think... with research... that I might be taking the plunge into FP! Angibug and I discussed it at lunch and she seemed to agree that I could spend about $3K on a system. So I'll be posting in the Front Projection forum looking for you guys help on what I'll need.

Well Pat, I really don't know what I'm going to do for now anyway. With the throw distance I need (16') and my close sitting distance (8'), it's gonna be hard to find what I need within my budget. Going from a 65" screen to a 72" screen is not going to be that significant of an increase to warrant the cost. I'll probably end up playing the waiting game.

It was a nice day today wasn't it Winnipeggers.
That Home Depot kids project thing is a heck of a lot of fun. I'm jealous, they even got their own Home Depot workshop apron to take home. Very cool. I think we're gonna go back next week. Next week they are doing pumpkin carving...that should be a blast! (oh and free pumpkins :P ...I knew these kids would start paying off). Depot's smart. I heard quite a few parents say they were going shopping in the store after the crafts were over....believe me...they KNOW what they are doing :yesnod:
It was pretty cool to watch my 4 year old...I was stunned how well he worked the hammer (kid sized) and I'm proud to say he finished every nail in his firetruck. :T (I only started them...and occasionally straightened)
"A RONSTER!"
Tune in l8er tonight. That's all I can say.

Hey Guys!!
Lex is up to something..I can feel it!!
It was beautiful in Toon Town too!!
Going from a 65" screen to a 72" screen is not going to be that significant of an increase to warrant the cost. I'll probably end up playing the waiting game.
Sonnie!!
Go for the Toshiba LCOS RPTV,,I have read a review on it that makes we want to go out and buy one right now..:yesnod:

I'd been thinking trade for a while now. Wanting to get out of my current bmw before the bottom fell out of it's value. At 6, almost 7 years old, it was getting really close, dropping off standard consumer loans within a year.
I'd thought I wanted an M3. But I'd not been able to find one I could afford. I was considering a 330i they had with a mild performance package on it. But just wasn't in love with it. No used affordable M's either. They had a 2002 silver corvette convertible that I was sort of considering. I went back today, and what do you know, they had another Vette. This one a coupe. 2001 with 4900 miles on it, and 12K off new sticker. I fell in love at first look. Oh, and Trevor, note the logo at the bottom of the page. 8) This SOB honks baby!
I'd always wanted one, never had one. Now I can say I have. I hope it's a good one. :) The guy that had it traded it and a Jag convertible on a 7 series BMW. That's why the extremely low miles. It was not a daily driver.

Holy midlife crisis, Batman, that CAT-guy we call Lex has a Vette! :T   :boobies:
Can we say BABE MAGNET!? :hump: :boobies: :leghumper:
Wow, I'm excited! I guess the Vette is now the official car of the TTP. I guess I have to convince Heather we should get one! 8O Yeah right...
Now you have to get a custom plate for it! How many letters can you have on a plate in TN? Maybe CATCBL or CATCABL, or MATRIX!
For someone who has a job almost as bad as mine, you're quite the spender. I could never afford any Corvette unless it's a piece of junk.
In other news, we saw Matrix Reloaded last night. Wow that movie pushed the sub hard, I even heard rattles! Usually I only hear rattles when I run Avia tests. It's probably the louvres (sp)? in the built-in cabinet doors next to the sub to blame.

Thanks guys. LOL Trevor, your to much.
I tell you, this car's got torque to spare, it's unreal. I just played with it a bit on a straight stretch with bursts of torque. Oh my.
I know I am an idiot, this is not a practical car, it's not a car a guy buys when his daughter is in college. It's Trevor's fault, for talking about the Z06. Damn you Trevor,
I really think the car is a reasonablly good investment of my money and credit though. Why? Because number 1, it's a Corvette. Number 2, it's a limited production Corvette in immaculate shape. I think it will hold it's resale value really well for a long time.
I really did get lucky buying rich guy's toys 2 times in a row. My BMW was a rich guy's toy as well. The advantage is, it's not all they drive, so they don't put many miles on.
I wonder if that guy misseshis Vette that traded a Jaguar and a Vette in on a 7 series BMW? Of course, the 7 is one helluva car.
Someday, I'll have that M I always wanted. But for now, this Z06 will do! LOL.

I agree!! She is HELLAFAST!!
Also Lex, You can add some easy Mods that will get you over 400 hP.
Mine has the B&B TriFlow Exhaust 4.5" which adds 22+ HP and also a Vortex Ram air intake which adds another +12 HP
I love while in third, punch it at around 80-90 KM's and you are thrown back in your seat.
The average age of Vette owners is like this..
20-30= 10%
30-40= 30%
40-50= 30%
50-65= 30%
Definately not for the young ones.
I really think the car is a reasonablly good investment of my money and credit though. Why? Because number 1, it's a Corvette. Number 2, it's a limited production Corvette in immaculate shape. I think it will hold it's resale value really well for a long time.
That's right..It's a great investment! better than investing into an RRSP right now..even though it is still important to still do that now regardless.
Do you have a garage to park it in? You won't be driving it during rain and snow right,,You must park it.
My plates expire OCT 25th then she is parked until April next year.
I know I am an idiot, this is not a practical car,
Yes it is a practical car. Especially if you have a daily driver as well.
The interior compartment is very comfortable with lots of room width wise, that was an opportunity with the old er versions even the C4's.
The trunk is plenty room for when you have grocery's or other stuff to haul around.
So is that your daughter in the pic?

Yes, that's my daughter in the picture. We'll get more pics, those were just real quick last night.
Right now, I expect she's under warranty. What is the warranty on these anyway? So, no mods for a while. Plus, I think she's plenty fast for me at this point.
I do have a garage, and I do have a second vehicle. (truck) So, normally, it won't be driven in much bad weather, but their could be some rain driving. However, keep in mind, we don't have the bad weather you all do up in Canada, so driving here is a bit different.
I can't say it will only be a pretty day car. With my BMW, most of the time, I left it in the garage when it's raining and bad out. But there are times when I said, well, I need my car.
This will be my car, not just a toy at least for now. Maybe later, I can upgrade my truck, and leave the Vette parked more. But now, I drive my truck most every day to work anyway and in really bad weather than I know is bad and don't just get caught out in it. So, mostly, I drive to my folks for dinner, that sort of thing now. Their should be new adventures in the Vette. You can't have those in the garage. hehe.
You know what they say, "The Vette get's em' wet."
As far as my BMW, I may have come out even better than I thought really. Thinking about it. Since it had a place loose on the headliner at the back left post, that would likely require the headliner replaced. It had mild hail damage, a couple of dents on top of the trunk. Some damn wax on the black parts of the bumpers that would not come off. (READ label and believe) Wax said it would not come off of plastic and dang it was right. That stuff stained horribly. I'll never use that crap wax again. It also has a plastic panel under the steering column that's been cut out due to the guy having handicapped controls on it before I got it. He did beat the car up some inside in the back with a wheel chair too. Lucky for me, he didn't catch all that stuff with just a lot drive. My leather seat on the drivers side was wearing bad I think because of jeans on the left side. I also skinned up one of the mag wheels o a curb really bad last spring. The good I left on the table, was a car that drove great with only 59K miles, and had great tires on it. I'll miss it.
I'll get over to the vette forum soon Trev.

But there is a hidden message in that!!!
Just be careful. It could happen to anyone at any time.
It all comes down on how you drive it.
Some people get cocky!!
We always have to be mindful that this could be a reality although
I am sure it would not happen to either of us as we are responsible people, providing we never get over confident..

You got that right Andrew. Someone died less than 2 miles from my house just about a month ago on a spot in the highway you wouldnt' expect someone would have trouble. There was an accident this weekend near me that was a collision between an VUE and a Taurus...apparently the nutcase driving the VUE tried to pass several cars on a single lane road at high speeds and hit the Taurus head on. The driver of the Taurus is in hospital and alive which is amazing considering they said the engine was crushed up to the rear seat 8O The VUE driver was killed though as it burst into flames imediatly after impact and flipped over onto the sholder. They said he could have made it as well if it hadn't being engulfing in flames which speaker a lot about the safety of the cars we drive today if you can survive a head on collison at high speeds...at least in a car that has an engine in the front not behind you like some sports cars.

Yikes...many crashes and smackups like that one could be avoided if more yahoos took their 300+ hp and got their speed fix at the track rather than on the street. I really believe that the more you race at the track, the safer the streets would be. I think It would help avoid crashes like the one Trevor pictured. The problem is that many places are like Winnnipeg where the closest raceway is an hour away. If more cities got tracks closer to the outskirts....you could cut down Sunday night drags considerably.
Any way, that's my thought on it.

Morning, er, OSIM folks...
Wow, Trev, that's some banged-up Vette. It might be the only one I can afford. I don't think I could handle that much HP. The first time I try to start from a dead stop I'd probably leave tire marks, spin the thing 180 and wrap myself around a tree. I'm used to econoboxes that strain to reach 100 HP. If I got one (yeah right, dream on kiddo) I'd have to pull out 4 of the spark plugs to make it more manageable. :)
I guess now that Corvettes are a TTP standard I'll have to upgrade. Since I can't afford a Kia, much less a Vette I would have to put a fart-can exhaust, fugly aluminum spoiler, lots of stickers, fake chrome rims with 1-inch deep tires, and a 20,000 watt subwoofer into my Saturn.
Saturday we had our volleyball tournament. Our team got the gold, even though we hadn't played in like 7 years. My back is still bothering me, but what's funny is it feels great when I'm active (volleyball didn't bother me at all) but if I sit for a while it acts up. Of course this makes my crappy job even more unbearable.
My phone interview is in 90 minutes. Wish me luck. It will probably be a practice interview.
Otherwise, not too much going on. I can't wait to get out of this hell hole so I can get on with my life!!

My phone interview went smoothly. It was just an overview, basically the where I am now and why I'm looking, what I've done, what I know, what the company is about, etc. The next step is an online assessment which they'll be emailing me a link to. If I get through that, there will be a 2nd phone interview, then they fly me down for a face to face. So the process is just beginning, but we'll see what happens. I'm seeing this as a practice run anyway, as I probably won't take the job if offered anyway (it's for a large insurance company, which is a type of place I avoid like the plague).
We'll keep our fingers crossed that it goes well anyway, at least it'll help me get the hang of interviewing again so when the right position comes around I'll be able to wow 'em!

Kevin while this my well be a practice run becareful not to assume you wouldn't work for them as that attitude will shine though and send a pretty strong message to someone interviewing you. Good luck with the online assesment...though knowing how strong your skills are it shouldn't be too difficult for you ;)

I took one of those online assessments once. Their crazy. Pretty much the questions you get when you are certifying. Answer them as honest as you can. Read them carefully and completely. The one I took docked you for guessing. 8O
This is part of the new way of verifying what you say on your resume. Many companies are going the standardized route. Funny because alot of companies still say they don't see the value in certifying on various products (other than having to possibly pay you more)? Yet, they hand out standardized tests.
Real life situations allow you to pull in all your resources...books, web co-workers etc... That doesn't happen in a timed test.
I guess from the employers side of things, what else do they have to go on when making a judgment call on a prospective employee.
Good luck Kevin!

If I recall correctly I took one of those assessments before, a couple years ago (yeah, I know, it's been a long time, I've forgotten already) and it gave me sufficient time to do the quick look-up on the web or in a book if I got stuck on something. If the test lets me go back to a question instead of forcing me to do them in a specific order, I'll go through the ones I know the answers to, then go back and tackle the stumpers, using my available time to look up the info if necessary.
The trick is they're looking for a Java/JSP programmer, which I have experience in but I won't claim to be an expert in this platform like I am in VB... I could ace most any VB-related test but my Java experience is a bit more limited. I'm sure I'll do ok but it depends on how high a "grade" they're expecting before they call me for the next interview. The problem is, even for VB, everyone's looking for .NET now, and this pathetic company I work for now is too cheap to move to .NET, we're still on Visual Studio 6. So even the languages I'm an "expert" in my knowledge is outdated.
But hey, no matter what happens, this is the farthest I've gotten in 2 years. Most of the time I get no response at all, or just an email asking for an updated resume, or other info, to which I respond, and then I hear nothing afterward.
In any case, after the 2nd phone interview (if/when I pass the online assessment) I'll decide whether to press on and go for the face to face (flying to SC) or bail out at that point. I don't want to wind up getting out of one "Dilbert" environment and into another.

Hey from San Franciso, guys! I'm having a FANTASTIC time at UAL, analyizing the engine we brought in. It's fascinating from an engineer's standpoint.
Hey, if we're picking Lex's new license plate, here's a scary thought: just about all of us live in different states, so we each could get a "TTP" license plate like Trevor. Not to claim any sort of ownership, of course, since it's Trev's original post, but as... uh... "participants".
Okay, so I'm being semi-facetious.

Re: the plates, I think TTP is reserved for Corvettes only. I had a custom plate years ago, IN2DP, on my 4Runner and then my Taurus, but I got rid of it when I got the Saturn and went back to the regular number plates.
I took the first of two assessment tests last night. It covered Java 2. I have no idea how well I did, hopefully I did ok. My Java knowledge isn't as extensive as my VB, and I had to "cheat" and look up some of the answers. The test allowed 3 minutes per question so that usually gave me time to hit Google and look something up, either to find out what it was, or to verify something I wasn't sure about. I still have one more test to take, on Java Server Pages. I plan on doing some cramming before I take it.
The test covered aspects of Java I've never used, like CORBA and remote threads, things like that. And conceptual stuff that you don't really need to know, or can figure out, when you're programming in it. Maybe if I just took an advanced Java class I could have aced the test, but I haven't had a Java class in years and I only use certain aspects of it. We'll see what happens.
I fixed our dishwasher last night. 8) It wasn't draining very well, so I took it apart and cleaned some hair/stuff out, put it back together and now it's working great. I suppose if I can't get a job as a programmer I can get into appliance repair. :)
My back is still bothering me. I made an appointment with a chiropractor on Friday, we'll see what they can do. In the meantime a co-worker showed me some stretches he does to help his back and I did them and they helped quite a bit, so at least I'm not in constant pain, and can sit for a little while anyway. We need an ouch smiley... maybe :nutkick:
Otherwise, I'm just doing my usual, pretending to work and struggling to make ends meet. There won't be any Corvettes in my near future, unless by some miracle the place in SC hires me for double what I'm making now. 8O
Later folx... KJP

It's not a bad thing to not know it all. You potential employer has created some impressions in his/her mind about where you are at and this simply confirms it. You aren't expected to know it all. They have a certain person in mind for the job (since they do less molding these days  ) And this helps them to see where things are at.
Don't worry about it, since you can't change it. I don't like that they don't tell you your scoring either. If your taking the test you should be allowed to see how you did. It won't hurt your chances to ask the employer for your score or how the test went. I think it's a fair question you can ask.

Good evening everyone :later:
Bad news comming up (most likely).
I might have to pull the plug on HTGuide on monday morning. My provider of the line to the internet Eg. the company I do my daily slave service for, is on it's way to the clan of "FuckedCompany.com".
They have a meeting tomorrow with one big customer for a plea to get them to pay a licensee fee for a software we're developing for them earlier than origin ally planned. This is a last minute action for the company and it might go all wrong and I'll end up on the street for a while. This means that the servers might go down on monday just to make sure they wont go into the general pack the tax guys will lock. And then I have to find a new solution for getting the servers back online without going bankrupt personally as well... bad enough to loose the monthly pay check.
I will do my best to make this offline situation (IF IT WILL OCCUR) so short as possible. Right now checking several ADSL providers to find the cheapest solution for a decent speed of the line.
Lets hope that everything goes well tomorrow and we will survive for some time more...
Sorry for the mess ppl.

Well guys.... this is a huge question and I think I know the answer but.... is 11½W X 20D X 8¾H big enough to build a dedicated HT?As Yoda would say, "size matters not"... sure you can put a dedicated HT in that size room. The only qualification for "dedicated" is that the room is solely a HT room, not a family room, etc. You could make a 10x8 bedroom into a dedicated HT if you don't plan on inviting a dozen people over to watch movies. ;)
The new Dido CD sounds great. I haven't listened to all of it yet but so far I'm pretty impressed. On her first CD, No Angel, the vocals sounded muffled. Not so on the new disc, her voice is loud and clear, and what a voice. I love it. ;)
A year or so I downloaded a Toy Story spoof clip that included a vibrator dildo and a real gun. Andy had Woody hold the gun, and gave Buzz the vibrator (which was a "light saber" complete with the sound effect). "Woody, you shoot Buzz, and Buzz deflects the bullet with the light saber"...

Checking the ADSL market and the best I found so far is around 200 CHF / month... and a 1-time fee of 30 CHF for 8 static IP's
The only pain is that most all of them ask for round 20 francs / month for DNS services for each domain. darn, they only need to enter the info once and then there is no work with it...
Well, we'll see what way I go after tomorrows activities.

You guys with PJ's.... question.... You know I've been looking into FP's and will soon be buying one. Not seeing an FP in action in (I can't even remember when)... should I expect to see a better quality image than high definition on my Toshiba RPTV? The picture is pretty astounding at 65".
