Andrew,,Not yet. I just to get a board to raise it up in the back.
Previously it was located in the underspace below the TV which really
sucked for sound..Boxy.
Yes it is Bent..Born in October 1995 ,First Generation.
Still works too.

Bent, thanks for the tip on the Zektor. Hmm, any degredation is to much. But we'll see how this pans out when I get the new equipment settled in. I may need it, not absolutely certain yet. Have to make a few decisions yet about that. One positive, my combo DirecTV/HD decoder has dual component outputs. So, that helps some. My concern is the dual projectors really. Of course, setup for those even remains to be seen. This week. :)

Hi guys... back into the hospital we go. Should just be a precaution this time, but you never know.
Very disappointed with sports today. Good game with Seattle and Green Bay, but living here in the area I would have liked to see Seattle win. And then my Broncos played HORRIBLY. Very bummed.
But the biggest thing was the Sugar Bowl post-game stuff. Good game with LSU and Oklahoma, they're both very good teams. But in the post-game, both Sugar bowl officials and some sports commentators made deliberate comments about LSU being the "TRUE" National Champions, that LSU and Oklahoma obviously deserved to be there and anyone else did not, etc. There was a lot of politics, just trying to legitimize the BCS, not focus on the teams and their performance. I don't really care about any of the three teams, but I think based on Bowl game performance USC was the one that showed that they're the best team in the country.

Morning folks...-34C (29F) this morning and my car decided it was too cold to start. Damn things turning over but not fireing so I hope its not a frozen fuel line. I'm using "winter gas" so its not supposted to freeze but at this temp who knows. So I'm working from home today which as trevor points out means I'll get to watch the hockey game:T

OSIM - well finally back to work (physically not mentally)
Andrew - nice Mars Roover. Finally NASA got it to land with out incident. First on missed Mars due to English-Metric miscalculation. Then second slammed into Mars cause the system mistook the jolt of the chute opening as a landing and release the rover to early.
Lex - check out this swithcher. http://www.audioauthority.com/aacconsumers/1154c.html
It can not be controlled remotely but will automaticlly switch to active video. Input Priorities can also be selected. I'm planning to get this in a few months. Mainly cause my A/V Receiver lack the amount of digital inputs and my new TV will only have 2 compentent.
Did you sign up for XBox Live Yet? If not I have a 2 mo subscription card that I can give you. It came with Prince of Persia and I had already signed up with my XBL Kit.
Trev - enjoy your day off. Your upstairs is very beautiful. Prince of Persia is very addicting. Where are you stuck? I'm have already completed 35% of the game.
Chris - Any news yet??? Best of luck to you and Jen.
Bent - I looked at that video swithcer too. But if I was going to spend that much money, I could easily buy a new receiver.

Whatever gets your picture in the paper I suppose. You can't pick your parents. Granted I make stupid calls and fortunately it hasn't wound up in the paper yet....but feeding a crocodile while holding your infant....when did that seem like a good idea???????
Mind you I've been at the ballpark and I've seen parents hold their kids while the kid stands on the edge of a railing (on the top rail). It was interesting to see the backlash on the MJ thing, but I've seen parents do stuff like that all the time...the difference? The public doesn't hold you (Joe Average) accountable (unless an accident happens). Heck I remember stories of my parents taking us to the lake as infants and we were in their arms...not baby seats.
That said....holding your baby in one hand and feeding a crocodile with the other is WAY over the top. Even by the look on the crocodile hunters face you can see he isn't 100% in control of the situation, he just thinks he is.

Yes, Gord, That's pretty weird stuff.
Well, Congrats to the team USA as they have won the Gold medal
this year.
They were the favorites coming into the tournament so it was only fitting.
It was unfortunate though, that the Canadian goalie put the puck into his own net for the winning USA goal. Not a great way to lose a tournament in the last few minutes of the deciding game.
Canada will be the favorites for next year with potentially 15 returning players to the team for 2005.
By that time the new Vettes will be out too!! :alol:

The Croc Hunter got reemed out pretty good by the authorities in Australia for that little stunt with his baby. He's assured them it will never happen again. We all new he was playing with 1 card less than a full deck to tease Crocs like he does. Looks like by this he's now 2 or 3 cards short of a full deck.

Is Winnipeg trying for another NHL team?
How big is the rink going to be once built?
Nope it'll never happen. the new rink is for the Moose and is a part of the mayor's plan to revitalize downtown (regardless of the cost). It should be a very nice rink when its done though...just have to figure out where everyone's going to park
As for Team Canada's Jr's once again we find a way to blow a lead in the gold medal game  We had our chances but that US goalie sure played amazing to to give credit where credits due the US didn't give up going into the 3rd two goals down. Still I think we had the better team out there but sometimes that just isn't enough to get the job done and regardless of the outcome there were some bonafide stars on both teams that made it a fun game to watch.

It's funny you mentioned that Lex..
I was just trying to phone and get the message to phone back during business hours which are between 11am -7pm..So I am thinking what's up with that..
I decide to go to the webpage to have a look and sure enough there is a message to indicate this as I had posted above.
Anyways,,You would think they would have updated the phone answering machine to inform customers of there holiday closure.
I am going to rip them a new one , when I call them on the 12th of January. :M
The bad news is, I was going to take holiday's next week, in hopes of setting up the FPTV. Now I have no idea of the status of my Screen.
It was ordered Dec 21/03.,but i am sure they probably have to order it in them selfs from there distributer. Maybe it even had to be manufactured, who knows. Won't know until next week I guess. :?

Hey guys. I was going to write a bunch of cools stuff buy my manager came in and took all my excitement away with few simple words - "Salary and Commision will not change" This will be 3+ years since I had a raise.
E - What's the business? Best of luck in what ever ventures you take.
Gordon - the croc guy is a jackass - he was on the TV trying to justify his action. "I'm was in complete control of the situation" I'm sure thats what Roy thought too before his tiger attacked.
Sonnie - you have to first save the JPG. Then from a photo editor open the JPG and do a save as to BMP.
Trev - you switched up Goerge pics too.
Maybe the guy was hoping it was for real.
The guy was her long time high school friend. Both were drunk. Dumb asses.

EJ & Everyone...ok, I'll share. As we all do, I love all things audio/video and since I built my theater and subsequent website documenting the process...I've been flooded with literally hundreds of e-mails asking questions, how-to, what to buy, where to go, help me design this, that...you name it. For the past year or so, I've helped many for free....
Eva Design & Consulting, www.eva-design.com (not functional yet), is my attempt to break into this crazy market for those that desire assistance with theater/room design, construction, consulting for equipment purchases, and a whole list of other services. EVA was my mom's name and also stands for Erik's Audio Video....so it's Erik's Audio Video Design & Consulting.
I'm looking to stay local, Washington, but hey if folks over the Internet want help, as I've seen over the last year....ya never know where it might go. I'm not claiming to be a "professional" like those other HT designers out there, but an outfit that can help the DIY guy get started, but will also be ready for full blown jobs where I'd act as the general contractor, etc. In short, I'm cheaper than the professionals...but over time I plan on taking the accoustic classes and all the other garb if this thing gets real serious....right now it's a fun side job! And yes, Catcables, Lex willing, will be my cable of choice!
When I have the business plan and website up and running I'll be sure to share it with you guys! :D
I'm working on my first bid for a 5-10K theater right now...so we'll see how it goes! 8)
Plus...there could be some more exciting news in the future for Eva Design & Consulting that could help launch this pet project of mine...but until that happens, I'll keep you guys guessing!

Eduardo... I got it fixed... thanks though. I actually only had to delete my TIF's and that cleared it up to save as the format it is.
Congrats E! This is kinda what I'm doing with First Troy AV. I've got the 2 local jobs going right now. One kinda small but the other is a fairly nice system. I haven't done any Internet yet... don't even have a web page designed. Heck, I haven't sold anything on the net yet anyway (okay... not that I've made any profit on). Helping for free is what it's been for me. I put up the BFD page and have probably gotten over 1000 e-mails for info on the BFD.

Thanks Sonnie...I'm looking to stay local as well...but in this Internet world, a website is a nice marketing tool...and like I said, who knows, maybe folks in other areas will want to pay a small consulting fee for stuff...most folks on HT forums wouldn't, they're more like DIY folks who do their own research but there are MANY out there who don't and would rather hire someone...walk into any BestBuy or local store and you'll know what I'm talking about...and it kills me what the sales people tell them sometimes!
Andrew: Heck, who knows, it could be a pipe dream...but most dreams start out skeptical anyway....but with HT coming on so strong since the introduction of the DVD...it's become VERY common in most homes. Plus comparing what I'd charge vs. those HT folks...saving money talks! Ganted they may have the fancy "titles' but I think saving money would talk louder than those...plus I've seen home theaters in Street of Dream homes and want to PUKE!!!! 10's of thousands spent and IMHO they're horrid...looking and sounding!!!
I'm just a guy with a passion, a bit of knowledge (and looking to grow more in that category every day), and a desire to help folks out...while making a few $$$ here and there on the side.
But Andrew...if somone contacted me from your neck of the woods...you got it! ;)

Andrew...that basically your Pronto work helps fund your HT hobby?
Exactly...well it has up until this point as my HT desires were strong. Now that i'm getting some pretty nice gear in there I hope to start diverting some of the funds into other areas....like a new shed and holidays etc. Of course I need that new Denon 2900 universal transport and I'm sure Rotels coming out with something I'll need as well

Andrew..that's my fear...whatever I would earn would go towards other HT/gear stuff! :P
Thanks guys...I just hope to have fun..actually pull off a few jobs and maybe share the joys of HT and life with other folks...that's why I'm here at TTP...to do just the same! So thanks for being such a support, especially for a guy like me!
Heck...here's the funny thing, the proposal I'm putting together right now for this guy will be even nicer than my theater! I look at mine now and think it's rather plain, at least compared to the ideas I've come up with recently. Especially design wise, in the detail work, layout, etc. But then again, I didn't have a 10K budget like this guy has...so it's all relative I guess. I just hope he likes what I propose!
Hey Lex...since you like to play around with Graphic Ideas for Logo's...wann work me one? ;)

Trev, I was talking about Erik mentioned among the finest designers. You know, E! :)
Erik, so your saying you want to talk to Matrix Graphics Inc President, right? As luck would have it, that would be me. We are a fee based service that specialize in graphical logo designs. Our rates are whatever the market will bear. So, how much is it worth to ya? ;)
But seriously, the first thing you need to do is think about colors. What colors you want to work with. Next, you need to decide if some sort of progressive text is enough, or if you want some sort of icon, or other graphic bit in the mix. The first thing I would remind you is that your name really doesn't say what you do specifically, so you need to work home theater design specialists, or something into the mix close by.
Mats is as good or better than me with this stuff, maybe he could offer suggestions as well if you get some basic direction established. Pat has an artistic mind. Patrick Sun is artistic, if you could get him involved as well.
Just offering initial suggestions. While a professional service could do much more for you than I could, it is true I can come up with something, as time allows.
I can do text lettering, work "props" into the mix, if you locate them, that sort of thing. Maybe a triangle square, speaker, projector hammer or such into the graphic. Just raw ideas. Now you need to think, brainstorm, that sort of thing! :)

Wow, E, sounds cool. I told all you guys a while ago, that we should all quit our jobs and just form one big theater design, construction, and consulting business. With all our experiences and knowledge, we'd be unstoppable. And heck, I could fly all us around to our various jobs.
E, I'll send you a PM when I get a minute too.
Cool stuff reading about the Jr. hockey championships. Disappointing that the winning goal had to happen like that, though. Wish I could have watched it.

Trev, just so you know, that possible new avatar of yours took a LONG time to download on my dial-up connection. I don't think anyone needs to cater to us dial-up cretins just because we don't have access to high-speed, but it might be something worth keeping in mind.

Morning guys.
E, that is great news. I wish you and your company much success. After I retired from the publishing business I thought about setting up a HT consulting service but requests from small publishing companies for my services take enough of my time as it is. Gord offered good advice. I don't know what the tax laws are in WA, but I suggest you get some advice from an accountant. The money you save in taxes will be worth the accountant's fee.
Now as for Steve Irwin, the croc hunter, well somebody should tell him he isn't Tarzan, and even if he was, Tarzan wouldn't put BOY in jeopardy.
As for Britney, well she just needs a good spanking, and I'm the guy who can do it.

Yes, I did forget that Andrew, and even Gord can be pita's when it comes to critiques and opinions. But then they can offer some good ideas as well as well as some of the others here.
I wasn't really trying to get you to change your name E, I was just trying to make a point that your name does not say what you are about. Even though, that is sort of a basic marketing rule, it's not a deal breaker.
For example, you can get the business license as that name, then list a DBA Erik's Home Theater Design Extravaganza, or whatever. :) Then you could even have 2 web sites, one under each name. :) Just food for thought.

Erik, Best of luck on the new home based venture,
I would very much love to do the same thing, I install/move satellite dishes for friends and neighbors, and seem to be the go-to guy in this neck of the woods for HT info and advice.
I have really enjoyed my home automation work as well, and would like to integrate that into somewhat of a business, but due to legal reasons, I am not allowed to use my electrician's liscence for residential work (but there are legal ways around this little snag...). Everyone who see's me press a button on my remote control and have the various lights all respond in sequence to a preferred lighting scene are all taken quite aback.
Best of luck.

Hey Happy New Year to the TTP Gang!
Yeah, I'm a few days late, but I'm here. :)
We are having some snow and it's supposed to be pretty bad for us here in Vancouver. Now in the best of weather, our fair city has it's share of bad drivers, and then some, but with snow, you are seriously taking your own life in your hands.
I'm not one to complain about snow, as I like the stuff, and happen to know how to dress for cold weather. I can hear people snickering out in the 'Peg and Toon town. :) I know we don't know cold, and I'd like to keep it that way.
I'm going to have some fun watching the news tonight and seeing some bonehead in an SUV in the side of the road. Never fails.
Erik: Congrats on staring the new biz! I know you'll do well. Say hi to the family from me and Sarah. Good luck on the job interview and safe driving. I've seen the weather for you guys and it's not looking pretty.
Chris: What's the word on the baby watch?
George: Hope you're enjoying your movies. Get some excercise with that spanking hand.
Trev: Too bad about the screen that really sucks. Love the pics on your entertainment unit.
Bing; Brother, funny email. :) Keep the faith, whatever that means.
Gordon: Hi, I miss the old avatar. Nice pics of you and Pr@ at New Years.
Pr@: That's a lot of snow to shovel. I like your avatar, she's a cutie.
Pat: Ahh I like that but shot! That reminds me, I have to plan a day trip with my cousin's 911 in the spring.
Eduardo: Hey, congrats on the Hitachi! Looking forward to reading the diary.
Sonnie: I'm embarassed to say that I haven't even setup my BFD yet. :(
Lex: You da man! Wow you really did a lot of upgrading last year, and you're off to a great start this year.
Everybody: Hi to those that I missed. I noticed a couple of new names, please do stick around, this is a great crowd and a wonderful place to post.
So what's up with me? Well I finally got my car fixed, it was a couple of faulty sensors, the MAF and coolant temp sensors. Taken care of with the warranty. I've been a bit down on power, but it was not significant and my gas mileage was still the same. But I had promissed myself that I'd get it done before the start of the new year. Check, completed Dec 30. I like to drag things out. :)
I've put together a small HT for the bedroom. I'll do a full review in the proper forum. So keep an eye out for it. I got a 20" flat screen from Costco and a HTIB setup. I've been looking at them for a couple of weeks, and had resigned myself on getting one with a passive sub, speakers and built in amp and DVD player. Well I walked into a local big furniture chain, The Brick, and saw an all in one system with a powered sub and the speaker construction was pretty hefty. So far I'm very happy with my purchase. One unknown feature was that it is a region selectable DVD player, I don't have any DVDs from other regions, yet, but I'm just itching to try it. Oh, eventhough it's got a decent sub, with adjustable levels, I've already swapped that out and am using my Energy xl-8 sub. :)

'night, all. Got some good work done today. It's amazing how "little" jobs around the theater really add up in time, just running one wire here, making your own video cable there, installing this little piece or that.
Trev, I can't believe that you actually clicked on eatme.com ... that's too funny! I won't even ask what was on that website.

Trev,
I watched that show too...very cool
I liked the part at the end where they showed 81 year old Carroll Shelby is doing doughnuts in the original 1962 cobra and then a 1 of a kind 2004 prototype 8)

Man I don't like that Shelby prototype at all. Rather ugly exterior and a very sterile interior. It looks like they ripped off a stainless steel kitchen tray and used it for the dash and trim. Would it have killed them to add some curves?
Speaking of curves...The Saturn Curve looked interesting.
The Pontiac Solstice caught my eye as well.
The Dodge Magnum....waddya know...the wagon is back...and it looks mean 8)
That Aston Martin Volante is sweet. That would be a fun, stlyish car for at least 1/2 the year up here.

The Saturn Curve is a nice looking car..and that's saying something considering I usually don't like Saturn styling
The new dodge sling shot looks like a mazda RX8 to mee though (not that that's a bad thing)

Made it to work today...snow turned to slush, thank heavens. Still see some crazies who think it's better so break through snow/ice/slush then just keep a constant speed...and yes, those are the one's you see slaming into the barriers or other cars!
Perhaps by tonight...my new website www.customhtdesigns.com and the beginning of my business venture will begin. My new email already works though, info@customhtdesign.com so that's cool! :T
When I get the "introduction" website up and running I'll be asking for your opinions on the layout, colors, etc...
Then next step I'm working on is trying to create some "partnerships" to expand the services/offerings of the company...very fun indeed! :D

Hey, dudes. I don't know about that new Shelby Cobra. The original was beautiful, with the sexy bulbous curves and cigar-tubed body. This one looks awkward to me. Now the new Chrysler ME Four-Twelve prototype, that's some amazing stuff.
850 Hp and 850 ft/lb torque
QUAD turbos
7 speed transmission
2.9 sec 0-60 time
10.6 sec 1/4 mile time
top speed 248 mph
20 inch wheels
1 hp/3.4lb thrust to weight ratio
Amazing stats for a heavily modified car, much less a stock supercar.
E, doesn't your wife do graphical design? She could design a good logo for you.

I admit to salivating over that Dodge. 8O Wow, talk about a super car. :) That's some ride.
I thought the Shelby looked pretty good. It could grow on you, if you want a 2 seat rocket. I mean the original was never what you'd call a beautiful car. It's about raw torque and power. I think this is a car that would look better in a better color, and in person.

Yeah I grew up with fords and currently own one but I'm not fond of the new shelby's looks either
Ben Gord already owns the venture...seems like a nice van too. My parents have the montana and they like it too.
I think when we look for a new car it'll likely end up being some sort of cross over type car/truck or a station wagonish like thing. But we're likely looking at a lease return and will need a new one in the not so distant future so that means I'm likely going to be looking at something that's already out in the market place. So the suburu's look nice but will likely still be too much coin unless I want to go older then I'd like. There's the small SUV's like the Rav4 and CRV etc but again could be a little much. Ford excape/Mazda tribute is nice too but see above:) So that leaves me with a station wagon of some sort...yippee can't wait:) Oh well we'll see what's out there and with a little luck I'll get my standard back. :driving:

Hey Guys!!
I had my doubt's on the Cobra as well.
Seeing in action on the program Rides was another story.
It was/is a pretty hot when you see it driving around the track.
I like the Dodge Magnum, however the version they show here is not as nice as the original that was shown last year. The tires and rims are skinnier. Maybe the Hemi version will have more agressive rubber.
The Magnum replaces the Intrepid BTW...
Lex,,Your always welcome!! :P
Chris,,The Chrysler ME12-4 or whatever is definately hotter than Hot!!

Trevor when you get the 5900 you'll be able to connect it to the projector via the DVI connection...what this means is that like digital coax for the audio side of the movie the image will also be transmitted digitally to the projector to be displayed. Technically I believe DVI has a higher bandwidth potential then component and should look better then component...but as with everything should and will are often very different beasts :)
Yikes that prius is fugly...
And I highly doubt you'll see me driving a Saturn...at least not a new one...I just couldn't see paying list price on a car without haggleing...its just not right:)

Trev: DVI is a pure digital connection from the DVD Player to the projector/monitor...no analogue conversions going on like for component cables. Essentiall the dvd reads digital, is converted to analogue to go through the component cables, and then is converted back to digital to be projected on the screen.
If I missed a step someone chime in....in short though...it's supposed to be a more prestine picture with less artifacts, etc.

Well Gord, if your heater works good then all the more power to ya.
I for one am almost completely satisfied with my Olds, 'cept for the piss poor heater performance. (and it's 200 bucks + change to do a thermostat 'cause the intake plenum has to be removed to get at the thermostat housing. :blah: ) The goofballs at Penner Chev and also at Brookdale Pontiac here in Steinbach (the van is still on warranty) handed me some sort of line that the t-stat is so close to the exhaust manifold that it winds up taking on conductive heat and gets fooled into thinking the engine is at the right temperature...
It's a good thing that we are gonna be able to get booze here, cause these mechanics are gonna drive me to drink. :boozer:
Oh, for the record, I have been in Transports/Ventures/Sillhouettes that have good heaters, just that there might be a quality control problem in one of either the product, or the connection between the driver's seat and the diagnostic code reader (I'm hinting that it could be likely the dumb-ass service tech.) I hope I'm not conveying the impression that I have a problem with the GM dealers here in Steinbach, (I truly do have a problem with them, but I hope I'm not conveying it, LOL).

Exciting day around K-town. President Bush came for a fundraiser actually right across the street from my work place. Cops everywhere. I still have to paint the surrounds, build a console/cabinet/center speaker stand combo doo hickey, install baseboard (which I don't even have yet), frame the screen, touch up paint... and several other little things. But I love it! It's all in the fun!
E... at least this will give you another option to consider anyway, albeit not the best option. Better yet, we'll just keep praying that your #1 choice comes through.

Police Officer O'Leary is cruising around in his patrol car one night. He is on the lookout for trouble. He sees two little old ladies in the front seat of a Chevrolet convertible, parked in a used car lot.
The car lot is closed so O'Leary drives up alongside the Chevy and asks, "Are you two ladies trying to steal this car?"
"Certainly not," says one of the ladies, "we purchased the car this afternoon."
"Well," says the cop, "why don't you start it up and drive out of here?"
"We don't drive," replies the other little old lady. "And besides we are waiting. We were told that if we bought a car here we would get screwed

So my cheapy raid card showed up today. $30 CDN shipped/taxes in from ebay. Crap, the shipping was more than the card. Guess I'll be raid 0'ing some drives this weekend. Hope it all works...we will see with some bench's I guess. It uses the Silicon Image chip (Sil0680) which works, supposedly, pretty well (when you can get it to work;) ).

I caught part of the apprentice...I like the concept. Someone should tell the Donald that his dreaded combover is a little obvious. Geez, get a rug already and be done with it, or shave it, or go to the Bosley clinic, hell I'd settle for GLH :P . With this money you'd think he'd do something better than that!
Picked up this tonight...will have to sit down and watch this weekend:

E... the site is lookin' pretty good. I know you are just beginning but as Andrew pointed out to me on my pics... your pics have a lot of jagged edges. It happened to me when I decreased my images with my image software. I was using bilinear resizing and changed to smart resizing with PSP and it improved my images. I also noticed the visited links turn to black and they are hard to read. I really like the red/white colors (obviously a BAMA fan here).

Houston, we have a problem. My DVD player shows as "delivered", but it's not on my doorstep. :( I see tracks where someone walked up the porch. (in snowy slush), but I don't have a package. I asked my Daughter to stay here for me today, I'm gone 4 hours and it comes while I am gone to work. Either he's still got it on the truck, or someone stole it between 1:15 and 3:30. I'm beside myself right now worrying. I requested UPS contact the local center for them to call me re the status of my package. I know the local center can contact the driver, though UPS would tell you otherwise at the 1-800-pick-ups number. The procedure is, they have to send the info to the local center via a special real time email system. The local center is to call me within 1 hour.
I spoke with him yesterday when the PJ was delivered and asked him to shoot for a late delivery today, he said he'd see what he could do. He expected he'd be the driver for today as well. I'm hopeful that he wanted it delivered before 3 for "on time" delivery status, but kept it on the truck to drop it here tonight. I hope...

It's a girl!
WOW, what an experience. God is so good, and this has been amazing. Since this has been a high-risk pregnancy with Jen on narcotics with her severe back problems, we were preparing for some possible hard times. Since the baby just kept waiting and hadn't come yet, it was looking like there'd be some issues there, too. But EVERYTHING has been different than expected, and pretty much all for the better!
http://www.mazeguy.net/animal/stork-girl.gif
What I was actually going to post in my last message is that the doctors called us Thursday afternoon, saying that they wanted us to come in Friday morning at 5:30 AM to induce labor. Even though the official due date was this Sunday, they didn't want things to go any farther. WELL... suddenly at 1:30 in the morning, as we're up getting ready, Jen tells me that her water just broke. Baby girl just decided to come 4 hours early!
So we get there at 2:30, we're admitted, do the standard paperwork and junk, and when they get around to checking Jen, she's only at 2cm and 75% effaced, so they say that we've got a long day ahead and it will be a while. Then just a few hours later, Jen's contractions had progressively gotten stronger, and she was in some serious pain. They started an epidural, but it wasn't giving any pain relief, and they were thinking that her back problems may be making it ineffective. Suddenly Jen tells the doctor that it's super strong and she's feeling the urge to push. They didn't want to keep checking her cervix since apparently it can cause infection if the water has already broken. But they finally decided to.
The doc checks and says, "wow, good thing I checked... the baby's coming"! He rushes out, and comes back in scrubs and a mask. Suddenly, people just start flooding into the room, bringing all sorts of equipment, especially since she was high-risk and things were about to get dicey. There were 10 people there, not including Jen and I.
Well, thank goodness, the epidural suddenly kicked in, helping Jen out, and out came the baby!
So I am pleased to announce that Abigail Paige Dotur was born at 9:45 AM, PST, weighing 7 lbs, 13 oz, 21.5 inches long!
http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/_950/ole.gif http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/u/ylinfant.gif http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/u/ylinfant.gif http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/u/ylinfant.gif http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/u/ylinfant.gif http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/u/ylinfant.gif
Right away, the docs gave her perfect scores on the Apgar scales. (how healthy and responsive the baby is) She started crying her little head off as soon as she came out, without any help. We were really worried that she might have drug effects from the beginning, so this all was great. We got a minute with her, and then we wisked Abby off to the ICU. She'll be there for several days, as they watch her for possible drug withdrawl symptoms. But so far, they say that she's just fine. Praise God!
She's got a little conehead that should go away pretty quick, but a full head of brown hair. Big hands, and she's a tall one like her daddy. Already breastfeeding well.
I'm headed back to the hospital, so I'll check in when I can!

Trevor very subtle :) My brother and I are 16 months apart...of course given Lauren's already 9 months and it takes 9 months to pop one out we're already past those marks...and honestly it'll be awhile yet before #2 comes along.
So I'm considering selling my MF Dac and buying a boat instead. I've always wanted a boat and love to fish and it would give us an excuss to get out on weekends. Not really sure I want to sell the MF but I think I'll put out some feelers and see who bites. There' been a few sell on audiogon for $750 as of late so there's a market for them (not surprising though considering its a Class A product and reviewers liked it better then the Rega Jupiter but costs a lot less)

I know your both so relieved, given the circumstances.
This is a nice thing, a real nice thing.

Yes Trevor, we will do more than 5 meters:) Ideally, I like to stop at 25 feet, though I would push that out a bit more if necessary.
I was a bit more than 25 feet from this guy. Caught him in the back yard and shot this through my patio door. I was zoomed in a LONG way really. I didn't have time to get a tri pod. So, I shot a few shots as steady as I could. That's tough, as Pat can attest. :) Nice bird shot over there too Pat!
Note the house entrance, remodeled by wood peckers. Darn peckerheads.

I actually had 5 of them in the back yard at once this week. They were looking for hickory nuts!

Andrew, when you Audiogo and do something... Do you need an account set up like e-bay?
Do you get "seller points" to help develop a rep?
I'm considering selling my PSB 12" sub (to fund my upcoming DIY sub), but I don't know of a decent way to do it, (nor do I know what to ask for it...)
(I am also toying with the idea of selling my modded x-box, but that's gonna break my little black heart if I do...) :boohoo:
Andrew Pratt
01-10-2004, 01:58 PM
Yes you do need an account but its easy to set up and unlike eBay you only pay $3 upfront for an ad (ie they don't take a percentage of the selling price)
http://www.htguide.com/CFBoards/images/signatures/andrew_sig.jpg (http://www.mts.net/~glendap)
Thanks for the info, Andrew.
I checked out the products at Audiogon... (I think I should save face and try the local Buy & Sell).
subwoofers haven't seem to have sold real well here on the used side. But I'd say give it a few days here, but be sure and mark it off market if it goes to auction. It is certainly ok to have it listed at Agon in the classifieds while still for sale here. Just be sure to mark it sold here even if it sells on agon. I've had moderate success on Agon, but usually brings less than I'd hoped. I guess the nature of used.
I have had a few sour deals on Agon. Attempts at fraud which I now immediately recognize, but the first one actually sent me a cashier's check, then I recognized the deal was sour. A guy agreed to sell to me then renigged on a second pair of Extremas. Another guy agreed to buy my Parasound amp, said check was coming not once but twice and still stiffed me on the sale. 3 days before Christmas no less. I was gentlemanly all the way, but let him know how disappointed I was in how I was treated. This from a business owner! In the end told him sellers deserve the same respect buyers demand. Period. He didn't even have the courtesy to say he was sorry for stiffing me.

Bummer that the DAC ain't doing it for you. Boat and fishing motor (I'm guessing a little trolling motor and a little aluminium is what you're after or are you thinking a Bass Master type runabout?)
Where do you go fishing? I'm guessing where you like to fish will dictate what you get. Nice idea though. Good change of pace from audio gear.

Ha!, I know what you mean. That could be scary. However, I am proud to say that my parents have adopted Tracey as one of there own. The inlaw status does not apply in this relationship which I am happy for.
However, With Tracey's parents and me, well the perception of INLAWS is very true. They are a different couple for sureand Tracey does realize that as well. However at the end of the day , they are still her parents and I respect that 100%..

Senior Citizen Bus Tour
On a senior citizen bus tour, the driver was surprised. While the passengers were unloading, to do some sightseeing, one elderly lady stopped and whispered in his ear, "Driver, I believe that I was sexually harassed!"
The driver didn't think much of this complaint, but promised he would check into it soon.
Later, that very same day, as the passengers were unloading again, a second little old lady bent down and whispered in his ear, "Sir, I believe I was sexually harassed!"
This time, he knew it had to be taken care of soon. A few passengers had remained on the bus, and he decided to go back and question them, to see if they had any knowledge of what was going on.
He found one little old man crawling along the bus floor underneath the seats and stooped down to question him. "Excuse me, sir, could I help you?"
The elderly man looked up and said, "Well, sonny, you sure can. I've lost my toupee and I'm trying to find it. I thought I'd located it twice, but they were parted in the middle, and mine's parted on the side!"

Trev, that's the big leagues... NHL. Pheonix Coyotes. Previous record was just over 300 minutes, back in 1949. Amazing stuff, and that's not even by the "greats" of current or recent times, like Roy, CuJo, Roy, Brodeur, and of course, Patrick Roy!
Well, they officially discharged Jen today. Problem is, baby Abby is staying in the Neonatal ICU for several more days. They'll only let Jen stay in the hospital so that she can breastfeed every few hours. Since my breasts are useless :?: I have to come home to sleep at night.

Trev, fun video
Chris, better get some sleep while you can ;)
Here are a couple of shots I took this weekend.

These were taken by one of the lock & dam systems on the Mississippi River.
They are Bald Eagles in case you didn't know ;)

Nice photo's pat. I saw a bald eagle on friday too (which is very rare for this time of year)
Woke up with a cold so I'm now tired and feeling rotten...yippee a great start to the week. Lauren's teething so she (and us) aren't sleeping...

Ah yes....if you're lucky the interrupted sleep will only continue up to the end of teething. Add a 2nd kiddie to the mix and you get to do it all over again. That feeling of getting 8 hours of rest....it will come back some some day....just not for a while. Get used to it :)
Course not just teething, they also get you up because:
Nightmares,
They wet the bed,
They just can't sleep (and would rather you didn't either),
They 're sick and puking everywhere (and later make us sick)
It's all good fun ;)
Off to the bump and grind.
Where's Bada-Bing been?
Or they don't like their bedroom anymore, they heard a noise, they heard the dog bark, or they have "missapartyphobia" when company comes over.

Good Morning Everyone!
Good lookin' shots Pat!
Chris... I was expecting a baby shot on the flip but I can see that pic doesn't fit what I was expecting.
The 2HD is installed and I can say without hesitation or reservation:
AWESOME!
And that's straight out of the box... only adj was switching to cinema mode, focus, and lens shift to center the image. It's hard to believe this PJ would even need AVIA.
I never imagined it would look so good and I've only demoed 2 DVD's thus far... we watched a little of Finding Nemo and David Gilmour in Concert last night. I can't wait to see HD from the satellite.
The room is pretty much complete except for a few minor things. I plan to frame the screen Wednesday and finish up the odds and ends stuff.
I set all the speakers last night although I didn't set up my BFD yet. It sounds pretty good as is.
I'm picking up the other 2 recliners today and will put together the other 2 black glider recliners tonight.
Here's a couple of shots (this screen image is not a good one with the lights on and the camera flash):

Finish front shot before the equipment:

Finished rear shot (the Pink Floyd pic won't be staying):

Side shot of Boulevard of Broken Dreams:

Rear corner shot to see the light sconces and side surrounds better:

Like Lex... it's hard to stay steady when taking a shot in the dark with no flash but I took a couple of screen shots.
I'll get my tripod out and see if that helps and maybe pause the image too.

Awesome room Sonnie!
The screen shots do look great.
Just wondering though, if you and the wife Annibug don't like sitting close together.?
I noticed the chairs are spread apart in a strange pattern.
..Came across this!
Thought it was funny in a weird kind of way!

Felling really rotten today with this sinus cold digging in...seems to be going around too as there's a few of us coughing at work today. Oh well I'll just hide in the server room away from the others.
Being fighting with some code that just won't work and from what I can see there's no work around either...damn Mickysoft and their DLL's

I got ahold of AVDeals today and ripped a new one in the guy!
First for not indicating to anybody that they were going to be closed
up until January 12th. Secondly for not placing my order yet.
Be as it may, they only place the orders to vendors usually once per week.
Well, the order date for Dalite is on Thursday..
When I placed my order on Sunday December 21/03 , it would have not been finalized until Thursday. Thursday happened to be Christmas Day.
They haven't been open since. So my Screen order will not actually be processed until this Thursday and there will be a 7-10 business day turnaround after that.
In the end, I am looking for a delivery date of around January 30th.
5 weeks after I place my order. Not good customer service as far as I am concerned.
On the positive side , the biggest challenge is getting the room made for the screen. Relocating my speakers , subs and Audio rack . That's a huge task. That's what I will get done this week.
Installing the screen won't be such a project , I think.
Anyways, I'll take pictures of my progress.

Thanks Sonnie! Had a quick phone interview and it looks like this recent opportunity will come down to salary...I appear to be too expensive for them...but they're "discussing" it and will get back to me. Why is it always about money! :P :D ;) It's all good...something will "pop" eventually...patience I must have, patience I must live...
That's lame Trevor...hope it all works out...any freebies for them putting you through that?

Sonnie, nice job on your new room :T
Erik, you're just full of good news...glad to hear things are going in the right direction for you.
Andrew, hope you are feeling better soon.
Trev, your screen deal is really messed up, I hope they come through for you.

I think I would have cancelled my order Trev. I told you you should have got in touch with Carada, great people to work with.
Andrew, feel better.
Sonnie, great job on the room, and man that was fast too, really! So, no screen though? You just using the wall for now? Temporary solution?

Well, As long as I get a screen I will be happy!
I hooked up my HDTV satelite to the TV upstairs, Different cables ETC..
and still the same results as I had downstairs.
I am thinking maybe the HDTV reciever is defective on the HD part of it.
Regular satelite from this receiver looks great. Just the HD stuff doesn't,,Soft and lacking in color.
Something is not right.
Sonnie, I like the idea of the Plasma at the side of you dedicated Theater room.
