I don't get why the XBox needs wireless G :? (other than to milk $150 - 200 buxs out of their customers). Still, you got a good deal Trev, and I'm all for good deals ;)
Should be fun to play it on Live! Enjoy :)

Bent,,Looks like you are a Full Member now.
Well, The XBOX wireless thing is going to go into the garbage.
It's not plug and play. :M
It won't connect.
Something to do with the IP address.
I can get on Live with an ethernet cable connection, but not the wireless.
Weird.
Anyways, how do I get my IP
net mask, gateway, submask, and DNS..
I'll try to enter these manually.
At first I thought I was maybe out of range,,
Not the case though as I tried it out in my computer room where the
wireless router is located. NO GO!! :M
Junk..
I wonder if the folks who work at Microsoft wear paper hats?

Trevor it could be the settings in your router. Do you have the router set to limit the number of IP addresses or to specific MAC addresses (you should) if either of those are true you'll need to make some adjustments in your router to let the new wireless device have access to an IP address.

Hey Bent!
Picked up two of the giant size shelving units at Lowes today, you know the ones that come chrome, black, or white I think, grated metal with the slip on shelf catches. 72 tall X 48 wide X not sure how deep, pretty deep. Gonna try to regain control of my back bedroom, just to much freekin junk! At least it will be organized junk now, lol. Dang 78 bucks a unit. Also picked up a table that may work for a projector table, after I assemble it, mission style to match my furniture somewhat. 216.89 total gone on 3 items, lol.
Lex
bummer on the wireless Trev. Why not see if Bing will drop over and take a looksie with you. If anyone can get it working, it's the Bingmeister!

Good Evening Everyone! Hope everyone had a joyful Christmas!
A friend of ours, Ron, came down from Birmingham and stayed with us for the weekend. Another friend, Steve (the fella that helped me with the HT room), he came up for the weekend. My sister was up from Tampa. We've had a house full with other friends coming over to eat and visit this past week. We finished up our last Christmas/birthday cook out tonight at another friends house and all our company has departed. What a great time we have had. I really enjoy it when we all get together.
Everyone is excited to see the HT room coming along. We may actually have a small crowd for the Super Bowl.
The HT room is primed now and most of the ceiling texture is on. I should get to start finish painting Wednesday. I should get some quality time with it this next week.
Congrats EJ! (for Isabella and the Hitachi)
I'm getting those same red X's Chris.

Hey Gang :later:
I have the week off....... Whoo hoo!
Lex-Miester... Thaks for the accolades, however I have forgot everything I leard about networks already.. I have a retension problem.. :P
Trev, Check that the wireless xbox live card supports WEP encryption. Also check to see if you have encryption enabled, because if you do, you'll have to enter in the WEP key the router is currently using into the Xbox wireless card. If thee Xbox card does not support WEP encrpytion you'll have to disable it in your router, although i can't see why it wouldn't.
to find your routers settings type in http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar of your web browser. This will take you to your router.
Select the status page to see all your routers current settings IP, subnet, Default gateway...etc
Select the DHCP tab and see if DHCP is enabled. It has to be for Plug n play, other wise you will have to enter in an IP address into the router and Xbox Live wireless card.
If DHCP is enable, selected the DHCP clients table.. Note your router's IP is 192.168.1.1 it will assign IP address in sequential numbers form that, ie the next number will be 192.168.1.100 You will have to assign the next available number to your wireless card if DHCP is not enabled. If it is, your router will just assign the next number automatically.
That really should be all you need to do. You may have to enter the IP address manually into the Xbox console as my experince with the internal network card is it's not as plug n play.
So to recap:
Check the status of the WEP encrpytion of your router. If it is on, get the key and enter that into the Xbox wireless card, if supported. If not, disable WEP on your router.
See what your routing table looks like and assign the next available IP number it will be something like 192.168.1.103 Your number of available users is set to 50 by default, so you should be OK with what Andrew stated.
Go to your Xbox console and enter in the IP address (assigned by the router) and or WEP key.
Have fun, and if you find it's just not working, call me and I'll come on over. Try calling me on my Cell
Oh as an aside, you will have to upgrade your router to a G standard 54mb/s type, as currently B standards only transfers at 6 mb/s over wireless. You may notice lag during Live Play, which would really suck... You should just keep the Lan cord if you ask me, but, if you gotta have wireless, ya gotta have it I suppose.
I sent an Invite to you to play Rainbow Six on Live with Cam and I, but you have not accepted me on your friends list yet. I didn't know if you have the game or not, but I though I would send the invite anyway.
I have to go and get breakfast ready as Brook is leaving back to calgary this morn.

Since your DSL is still capped at 1 meg wouldn't that be a bigger bottleneck then the "B" vs "G" router?

I have been using that mailwasher program that Gord turned me on to. It bounces back the spam, so after a month or so of using it, it has reduced my spam to a managable level that I don't need to run Mail washer anymore.
I use to get nearly 75 spams a day, after bouncing the spam back for 2 months, now I maybe get 2-3 a day, some days I get 0 (zero).. I think it was a worth while venture, rather than changing my e-mail address.
Thanks Gordo :T

Buying a used DVDO I-scan plus to convert my dual 301 disc dvd changers from 480i to 480p. I hope it does a good job. :) Because basically lately, I've just been using it for a file system. I find what I want, then press open, and it goes to that disc location. Remove it, view it, then put it back. What a hassle that is. But I figured it was worth it to go progressive.

Trevor it should get an IP from the router so it'll be the LAN IP. It should be something like 192.168.0.5 or something similar.

Wow Mats, beautiful daughter!
Trev, the Xbox's IP should be the one that is assigned by the router. Do you have DHCP enabled at the router? If so it will just assign an IP for the xbox, it will be 192.168.1.100 or 192.168.1.101 or 192.168.1.102 or 192.168.1.103...etc Click the DHCP tab on your router and then DHCP clients table to see what is available.
As well check that WEP encryption that I mentioned. If your router is running that you will have to enter in the WEP key into the xbox. The WEP is a wireless encryption code, your xbox wireless adapter has to have that code to be able to connect to the router.
Andrew that picture of Lauren in your AV is cute

Hello folks!
Re: glaucoma and eye drops - while back home for the holidays, I found out my mom's eyes weren't responding well to the eyedrops, and she was scheduled for laser eye surgery the week of Christmas, but she wanted to see me when I was home that week, so she pushed the surgery procedure to next week, but it was still a bit of a shock to hear, and I hope things go well for her.
Back in the old neighborhood, hearing stories from my friend's mom about having to deal with her 84 year old mom that has dementia and also constant supervision was heartwrenching. I don't look forward to that time with my own parents.
My New Year's resolution is to stop giving more than I can reasonably expect to get around the holidays next year because I think my give/get ratio was 80/20 (50/50 would be more equitable, of course).
My recent project has been building a new PC, and the main emphasis was to turn it into a machine to create DVDs with (migrating LDs to DVDs), so that's where my attention has been attuned to for the past month. It's been a fun learning curve.
Hope everyone had a nice holiday season, and has a safe New Year's as well!

I've been fighting a low grade sinus infect. for a while now. Usually happens this time of year. It comes and goes. But this week, it took a turn for the worse, sore throat, swollen lympth node on my neck started on the weekend. Then the infection moved in and the node settled down. I was up last night about every hour on the hour until 5 or 6 this morning, then I did sleep 3-4 hours without getting up. What a pain. Feel weak, and cruddy generally. I felt it coming on yesterday but worked through it on my garage, and the night before putting up my shelves and loading them down. Not today, resting mostly.

Trevor grab your notebook and drive down the street. I bet you'll still have a connection for several houses or even the end of the street. From my living room I can see at least one other wireless network from a house across the street on the other side of ness so its at least 150 feet away...likely much more since the first two houses are older couples and I doubt they have wireless networks.

Yeah, I didn't like that graphic much then either Sonnie. I've become more sensitive to motion crap on my screen. It didn't used to bother me, but now, it just irritates the sh.. out of me when I am trying to read, lol.
Maybe it's the eyes, I dunno. But when I pop up CNN, and it's got crap flashing on the screen, I move the window out of sight until it stops.
So, I am motion sensitive, and Andrew's light sensitive. What are the rest of you guys? lol. You better not get an MC-12 Andrew. They've got leds that are about like bright optical lights. The red aren't bad, but the blue are very bright.

GEEZ, there are a LOT of default motion icons to choose from in the avatar list, so you better have a talk with Mats, Bing etc...
So I changed it for all you folks who thought it was a threat to their manhood  (names withheld).
Personally, I thought it was pretty cute.
There was a nicer and more subtle way of asking for a change. That was piss poor.
I'm sorry , I don't buy the motion excuse otherwise you would have had Mats nix all motion avatars. :M
"A RONSTER!"
There's high activity motion, and there's low activity motion. Low activity motion is not that distracting. It's the ones moving a lot and fast that are.
Anyone I see with high activity motion will be asked to reduce it. Sorry, that's just how I feel. If people don't want to cooperate, it will become a rule of no motion at all. I really don't care.
Imagine if every person in a thread had high activity motion icons. It would look like a damn circus. That's not the purpose of the avatar space. That space is really about something special to you, HT gear, your own pic, something of value.

I wonder if Trev, Lex, or Andrew could possibly ever make a resolution to not make any audio or video upgrades for just one year?
I'm honored just to be included in that list
Well I spent a little more time listening to the MF DAC tonight and there's a few things that really bug me about it. First there's a bunch of REALLY bright blue lights on it that I'm going to need to fix. I thought they were bad until I powered off the transport then the stuppid thing starts flashing between the coax and optical inputs looking for a new source...so there you are watching TV and there's a very bright blue light bouncing back and forth...I know I'm anal about lights but come on that's rediculous. I also tried using the Denon as a transport and a DAC at the same time using two different inputs on the Rotel and to be honest while the MF does sound slightly smoother the differences are quite minor which either means the Denon's Burr Browns are already really good or both it and the Sony suck as transports. Given that the MF reclocks the DAC I'm not so sure its a transport issue but its worth looking into I guess. I'm not totally disappointed though as now my jukebox sounds much better then it did before but I guess given the Class A rating stereophile gave this DAC I was expecting a little more "jaw drop". I'd be curious to hear what Jeff has to say if he drops by for a visit.

Andrew, I am not really sure why you bought a DAC..
With a digital connection doesn't the receiver over ride the CD/DVD player.
As for gear this year,,
I really have my eye on the Denon 5900 DVD player..That's only if my Toshiba SD-9200 doesn't do justice with FPTV once it is set up.
Also, I would like to get the Monster HTS-3600 Power conditioner.

light bulb, low activity. yes, there are some icons in our selection that are silly, there are some that move, but as far as I know, there are none with heavy activity. If there are, I'll ask Mats to remove them.
No, I am not really crazy about Bing's avatar. But at least movement is contained somewhat to 1 area.

Trevor, if your 9200 is not progressive, you will need to rush out and pick up a budget progressive player. big difference in 480i and 480p.
Speaking of upgrades, I slid one more in before year end, though delivery won't actually occur until 2004. So, which is that? This year or an early start on next? ;)
Trevor, Andrew is passing his Rotel an analog signal from the DAC, and using analog bypass, which means it bypasses all digital processing of the receiver, and is output as pure as possible to the amp. At least I guess he has analog bypass. Even if not, as long as it's not a digital processor, meaning everything is processed digitally, it could still be pure analog, well mostly. :)
night again,
Lex

Well I think there's a few things holding back the MF dac...one being the transport...and the other being that i'm stuck using an optical connection as its the only digital connection out from both the Denon and the Sony. Its for that reason that I can see myself upgrading from the Denon 1600 to the 2900...solely to get a better transport, coax out and SACD of course. That will have to wait though as there's plenty of other things to take care of first outside the HT room.

Yeah I just replied,
I just got back from lunch at the forks with Kathy and the kids and it's frickin cold. Must be -30C with the wind (I just checked -25C with the wind). THere sure is a lot of family friendly activities on. There were free shows at the Planetarium and the Museum today. You could see the new Parklands /Mixed Woods exhibit for no dough. Kathy said it's pretty cool for something new. The Planetarium is a bit of a dud. It's really showing its age.
All that said about the wind...It wouldn't be right as a northerner to put the kybosh on the fireworks so I say let's play it by ear. I have the gear necessary to survive the cold but I don't know about anyone else. So let's just see how people feel. One nice thing about freezing your footsies outside is that it makes coming back to hot chocolate that much sweeter.

OK, I don't really see How my name got dragged into this whole silly Avatar despute....
Regardless I find Lex's stance and argument to be flawed and unfair. I understand about the high movement images as if it's flashing like some bad acid trip, that could be annoying. However I didn't see anything wrong with Gord's avatar and Jeremy has a simular one with a whole line dance, and nobody compalined about that.
I can see if the Avatar is offensive in nature or discrimatory, however this latest regulation is a bit offside as to be over bearing... I suppose it is Doug's site, so his way or the highway...

I'll just leave TTP if it bothers me that bad.
For the record, Gordon brought up your avatar Bing. I didn't say I liked it, but I didn't say it was that bad motion wise either. Am I not entitled to have a personal opinion about it? Had I asked you to take it down?
Also for the record, had what's his name come back posting here, that dancing crap would have been hitting the highway too. If and when he does, you can bank on it. That sort of thing is cool for 5 minutes, then it's just annoying as hell, just like pop up flashers.
I could just do like Mike Knapp and say either it's your picture or nothing. Maybe that would be best. Andrew, is that not what he told you about your daughter's picture? I thought that was pretty crappy, you can't even have your daughter's pic up.
Also for the record, we hold our advertisers to minimal flashing, for YOUR benefit. Is it not fair for us to ask the same of you, the members?
Now I have said all I am saying about this today.

Yes but i didn't have a problem with it really so long as the rules are clear i don't mind playing by them.
As for the avatars I tend to agree with Lex that the really animated ones are distracting but Bings was fine with me. If we wanted I guess we could limit it to jpgs only no gifs allowed...might help with load times as well as animated gifs can be fairly large.

Hi, Guys! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/a/wavey.gif

E, I don't know what you're talking about with the snow, it's 65 degrees and :sn: here... just kidding. It's been snowy and http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/l/loki.gif here today. Jen and I left the house in the BMW this morning to go for a hospital checkup. Got outside of our subdivision and got blocked in by a big accident and cars all over the road going down a big icy hill. I stopped before I got to the wrecked cars, but couldn't back up with the ice. So I sat for a while and finally some guys helped push us back. http://www.stopstart.freeserve.co.uk/smilie/cold.gif Went home, swapped cars to our Jeep Grand Cherokee, chose a different route, and finally got to the hospital 2 hours later. Thank goodness Jen wasn't going into labor! http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/2/nervous.gif
Speaking of, we keep getting teased! First it was a bunch of contractions, then it was the now-infamous Mucus Plug, then today we thought her water might be leaking. (it's not) But they did something today, saying that we can be back in any minute now for the real thing. I don't know if I can take much more of this pressure. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/k0/smashfreak.gif http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/k/squeeze.gif
Pr@, I'm quite bummed to hear about your DAC. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/q/bawling.gif You must have really been looking forward to that. Well, at least you might end up with the final result of even better equipment if you're thinking of the Denon 2900 or higher!
Speaking of, guys, there is that Denon DVD-2900 on sale here at my local Good Guys for $799. Comes with manual, remote, etc. Silver. I'd be happy to pick it up (keep it, try it out, etc http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/giggles.gif ) if anyone wants it.
As far as the Denon DVD-5900, it retails for $2000 US. I'm hearing a few people are finding a little bit better price out there.http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/b0/deal.gif

Had a good morning with Erik and Jeff Aguilar doing some critical testing of Jeff's new tube amp. Beautiful piece of equipment. On certain songs we heard, especially Norah Jones, it really broadened the sound field. Brought out the mid-range sounds. Well, since I've had a cold/flu type bug, I stopped pretty much with the hard work, sat down last night, and though it was drudgery at times, entered most of my DVD collection in dvd profiler while watching football. Solid software, easy to use for the most part, and quick to upload to the net.
I'm "Cable Guy", since lex was taken.
http://www.dvdprofiler.com/mycollection.asp?alias=Cable%20Guy Most box sets are not entered individually, so the actual number of discs is some higher.
Been playing Need for Speed Underground too and having fun with it. Solid game. Xbox, on PJ. It's big, and it's awesome!
Watched a budget 5.99 Walmart special movie last night. It had quite a star studded cast really. The real star was Liv Tyler. I bought it purely on the cast. Liv, Michael Douglas, John Goodman, Reba (small part), I think one of the guys from Something about Mary, if I am not mistaken. Liv was delicious. ;) Not profiled yet.

Yeah that was fun. Waiting for New Years was a little anti-climatic. We were in this heated board game so we basically went "Happy New Years!", "now, back to the game" .
When Lauren is older, we'll do some more outdoor stuff because despite the cold, I think the kids were ready to have some fun outside. We'll do it again sometime. Now that there's a good base, maybe I'll get you guys out to my folks cottage for some snowmobiling :D

I'm not sure what the doc's gonna be able to do for you since it's the flu...hopefully they can alleviate the symptons.
"A RONSTER!"
I think mine is just a weird bug. I fought it off once before, but this time it got me down. I felt bad, but not quite like it was the flu. Do take care Chris, those things can be bad. At least your in fine physical shape, should help you fight it off.
Strangely, my team lead was complaining of a swollen lymph gland or two, even went to the dr. Within a week later I had the same thing happen. It went back down, but then popped up again before this bug set in last weekend.
Gordon, nice mugshot of you in your avatar. Now if you could just animate it with lots of motion. I'm kidding. :)
Thanks on the stuff guys. I did come out of the gates this year, or slammed the door shut on last year, you pick. Yes, it's a Samsung DVD-HD1000. I had that wrote in the first post, went to get a graphic and winblows went bazerk on me. I lost the post.

Doc says I have a standard respiratory virus going around. Nothing can cure it, just treat the symptoms. I knew it... that's why I didn't bother going to the doc for 5 days. But after that time, with me still not better, I wanted to make sure it wasn't something more serious. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/y0/ill.gif
Trev: Yeah, I watched a news brief on the new Vette. Looks cool... 400hp!!! The new TTP-mobile?
All: Here's a question that I hope one of you can help me answer: I have a dial-up connection, and work with multiple Internet Explorer windows open at once. I'll load a webpage on one window while I work on another. I HATE HATE HATE it when the one loading repeatedly "pops up" as there is progress on the webpage load. It is quite annoying, and it has several times popped up just as I'm clicking on something, causing me to close the wrong window or click on the wrong thing. HOW DO I DISABLE THIS SO-CALLED "FEATURE"???

Gord how's your back from shoveling?
http://www.htguide.com/CFBoards/images/signatures/andrew_sig.jpg (http://www.mts.net/~glendap)
Andrew, the DVDO Iscan got here yesterday. I've got to build a VGA breakout cable to use it though, lol. I had two VGA connectors here somewhere, but seem to have misplaced them. So, I am considering cutting up a VGA cable, and try to adapt it. I've got the pin configuration now, so it's a possibility.
I've also got a RGB Sinc cable to build first though, so not sure when I will get mine done. I've lacked energy and motivation since getting sick this week. i'd planned to work some today, but as yet haven't.
The PJ is still showing as left Portland Or. I guess it's on a truck someplace. Dunno where.
The DVD player is waiting on my Echeck to clear via paypal to ship.

Gord how's your back from shoveling?
When you have a driveway as long as I do....you use the snowblower  . The drifts looked the same at my place.
Normally I shovel and save the snowblower for the bad stuff...but Kathy had an appointment to make this morning so I had to haul it out....it needed to be run anyway. Then I did the sidewalk for the street since I walk up to the bus on Monday and my neighbors ain't in to shoveling the sidewalk. Fine by me....I say snowblowers were meant to be used. It's too much fun to be considered work. 8)

Lucky bastard. Between my driveway, the path around the house and both sidewalks there's a lot to shovel.

Great pics, Trev. I guess Stacy would account for the price increase of the new Vette model. And that's got to be the only car I know of that simultaneously runs at 0mph and 200mph, 800rpm and 7500rpm, a full tank of gas and empty. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/r/goofy.gif
Gord, I agree. The Porsche 911 body style is beautiful, especially when you add the right body effects. There's an Aero body kit that you can order with your Porsche for $7,000 extra I think that is just stunning with a high rear spoiler.
Still snowing here today. http://smilies.sofrayt.com/%5E/x0/snowman.gif

You guys are cooking on TTP. I guess with all that snow you stay in and work from home? Like Lex, the weather here is un-seasonably WARM. it was in the mid 70's 8O . I like warm weather but I also want to get some snow.
Trev - Love the flip pic of Stacey Keibler. If there were any other pictures I didn't notic them. ;) About the Chevy commercial, I just think it could have been better. The blame should fall on the advertising company and not Chevy. I did see the new SSR truck with the top down today. Very cool but for 41k :nono:
Gordon - the Porche is so SWEET. I need to move to a state that has a lottery. Maybe then I could have a chance of actually owning one. My family use to have a snow blower when I was growing up in New Jersey. The snow mounds mad awesome forts for snowball fights. As I got older, snowball fights turned to firework fights. We'd shot bottle rockets and roman candles at each other  .
Andrew - 8O wow thats a lot of snow. Good clean up job. :T
Well, if you can afford the Porsche, what's 7K more?
So true. :yesnod:
Mats - I sorry I didn't say this early but - HAPPY NEW YEAR !!! How the new job?

Yeah, pretty good, the Titans are alive. I'm for them unless they are playing Payton Manning. He's the guy I like most in the pros. I don't pull for him because of the colts, I pull for him because he was the best QB Tennessee ever had, and he was a UT guy through and through.
Trevor, nice Vette pics. It's still not my cup o java. But it will be interesting to see them. I'm not real hip on the interior myself. But I can see some areas of upgrade. Though I liked my instrument panel better.
Got the DVDO Iscan hooked up. Since I couldn't find my VGA connectors, I just cut a VGA cable up, and used one end. Saved me having to solder the VGA end. Just pull out the red, green, blue, put RCAs on, and I was good to go. Works pretty darn well too. I'm happy about it.

Also watched the DVD with Mandy Moore in it..Can't remember the name.
Anywyas, it was lame.
How is the 1 HD,,Are you going to upgrade to the 2 HD?
About the Chevy commercial, I just think it could have been better. The blame should fall on the advertising company and not Chevy. I did see the new SSR truck with the top down today. Very cool but for 41k

A great introduction to the Vette and the debut of 4 other new Chev vehicles.driving onto the car carrier..Classic!! I love Chevy's!! :yesnod:
Yes, I agree that 40K usd is pricey for the SSR. I think the foldable down hardtop is what jacks up the price a considerable amount.

Trevor come on out to winnipeg...its where all rest of the TTP guys are so might as well join us:) To that end if we're going to have a get together we've now got a pile of use up here in the great white north. I know my igloo's a little small for all of you but maybe we could all stay at gord's cabin in the whiteshell park...its beautiful there:)
Trevor I really like my 1HD and it still impresses me how vivid the colours are on some DVD's. I'd love to upgrade but really I see myself living with this one for some time...I have considered tweaking the screen though with a new DIY concept that's being hyped lately (it involves painting plexiglass)
As for seabuscuit I'd say rent it anyway its not a fast paced movie (well some parts obviously are) but still a very good true story.

Uh no, it's not. We are all over.
I'm sure the C6 will be a nice car Trevor. It will be different than what we are used to seeing, but I guess it should be some different. Otherwise, it's a C5. :) Mostly, I just think Chev could take a few lessons on interior appointments from high end imports like my BMW. I'm sorry to say, the upgrades just don't get it there.
I don't think I've seen the Chev commercial.
I watched Serving Sara and Conspiracy Theory last night on my new DVDO Iscan connection. :T Nothing new movie wise.

Neat thing about this video, is when I had posted the picture of the new C6 riding on a car carrier. Well, that picture was taken by somebody who happened to be in Downtown Sanfrancisco while they were filming the video. He was able to snap a few shots with his digital. He put them up on the net , which ultimately ruined the planned first unvailing of the C6 planned for January 5th in Los Angeles or Detriot, can't remember which one.
Anyways, talking about being at the right place at the right time and a member of the Corvette Forum.. :P

Tomorrow is the first "official" day at the new company. Hope it will survive a few months so I can put some hooks out looking for a new :)

Lot's of costs at start with machines, new office, telephone switch etc etc.
Then again... if done correct it can succeed... LET'S HOPE SO!!!

Well I have to admit Trev, from that angle and that particular paint scheme it does look pretty sharp from the side. Not too crazy on the front FX though.
I have a little guy on dry toast and 7-up today. Somethings not agreeing with him...but it's not slowing him down either, which is good for now.
Trevor, have you been playing with that 2HD yet or has it been sitting there? You must have a free wall somewhere.
Are you ceiling mounting that projector or running it from a coffee table? Just curious since I think your room is more multi-functional than dedicated (say like Andrews), at least from what I gathered from pictures. What will you use for everyday viewing? regular broadcast (even Sat) SDTV doesn't look so great blown up (I wonder if a HTPC with filters might clean that up...say through DScaler)...any hoo...what's the scoop?
"A RONSTER!"
Maybe Trevor should do what I did, get a small Plasma or LCD for standard old TV. The bad thing is, they cost more than the projector. But I hope will last a lot longer than a pj. I hope. Sometimes I run the PJ for TV, but not that often now. Usually just run the Plasma 32".
My viewing distance is no more than 4 feet or so though, so the image still seems big from there. With Satellite component feed, it's fairly good quality as well.
Anybody seen a good quality component splitter amplifier? Curious.

Yeah, I agree, it's growing on me some. However, I still think that side vent line is to choppy. It doesn't flow with the rest of the car, IMO. I think they need to soften that.

I think some people are using an AV switch from radio shack of all places. Its supposed to be video plus stereo audio but they're all stright swiches so it works just fine for component...and they're cheap too.
Just finished the League of extrodianary gents....I give it a C- at best...it was ok I guess but even sean connery couldn't make this a good movie.

Hey Gordon,,
I haven't set it up yet. Waiting for the screen and my one week vacation to do it.
I may be off for a week starting this upcoming Saturday, or the week after. It hasn't been confirmed yet.
I will be calling AVDeals tomorrow to get updated on the status of my screen. I think they were closed for the Christmas season as I could not make contact with them last week.
Once set-up it will be ceiling mounted. I have the mount kit already.
We decided that this would be strictly for Movies,,so the room will become our Movie room.
The upstairs family room will become our TV room and I will be moving the HD satelitte receiver upstairs. We have a 42" Toshiba RPTV which we bought last year in this room with the Marantz SR-8200 receiver and Paradigm Studio Reference speakers as well.
The 42" Tosh will play back 720P I believe as the 61" doesn't.
If the 42" doesn't then it's gone.
Also, we just installed satellite into the bedroom , so for those tired days or before going to bed TV watching. This we have the Panny Tau 24", However , this is where the 42" or 37" LCD would be a perfect fit as Lex had mentioned. I wouldn't go with Plasma yet..The Sharp Aquous LCD are very Sweet though.
Yeah, I agree, it's growing on me some. However, I still think that side vent line is to choppy. It doesn't flow with the rest of the car, IMO. I think they need to soften that.
Lex,,I am getting used to them,,They do look to much like the Porsche Cearra GT though..

I think I am sticking with my 330ci Trev. I love the car.
No to plasma? Well, be that way. I tried LCD in the Panny, but really like the Plasma better than I did it. The Panny I got had a problem anyway, so it went back. Good thing too, as with FP, I didn't have room for a 50".
Why move the TV room Trev? If you like it down there, keep it, just use the PJ. That's what your getting it for, isn't it?
We got both those games for Christmas Trev. We started with Gotham 2, but went to NFS underground, and I haven't taken it out since. I think I'm at level 16. The races are getting VERY fast at that level. I've got Turbo, but no NOS yet. I just beat the race now where you had to buy more stuff to get your "reputation multiplier" up before you could even enter the race. You there yet?
Lex
I found this for video switching, but it's 450, a little pricey. One thing I like is, it's remote control compatible. I'd rather pay more for remote capability than go with manual.

Lex,,The down stairs was rarely used for TV anyways.
Although we had the option to use it for TV too.
This way we have two seperated rooms with two different purposes.
I was getting annoyed at having rooms were we don't use.
So 4:3 for Hi-Def TV upstairs and 16:9 for Movies downstairs.
Here are some pics of the upstairs I just took.

Lex,
the Zektor HDS4.2 is the jazzed up version of the HDS4 (Which I'm using)
The 4.2 allows the same features of the HDS4 including programmable learning, so it will switch inputs to correspond with the IR signnal to switch your audio sources 4 seperate component video inputs (which can be used as RGB H V for five wire video - assuming you don't need an analog left/right audio pair, you just use it's L/R for H/V imstead), also coax digital to toslink optical conversion both ways and discrete power on and off. but as it is an upgrade from the HDS4, you also get manual front panel switching, RS-232 control capability and a second set of video outputs, albeit the second set of outputs aren't selected via "dry contact relay arangement", they use an amplified op-amp type of output, so there could be a slight (very slight) bit of video degradation present at the .2 outputs.
These zector units are absolutely phenominal units, once you set them up and teach them to follow the same commands that you use to select any input switching on your video receiver or AV Pre/Pro and then just watch the little unit just disappear into your entertainment system :D
