FINALLY, I'm all set up at my new desk, and I finally feel like management now, seeing as how my cube's size/look/furniture is exactly like the TOP DOG's, someone that controls all of Northern Colorado ;) So I must be a big boy now!
Sorry I had to run so quick yesterday, I had some homework to do before English class, and no time to do it in.
I'll get an email out ASAP pertaining to the 80's collection, and the final verdict, like I've been promising to do for two days now ;)
Kevin,
Someone diriving the same kind of car with the same plates? Scary, I wonder if he looks like you...which brings us to an important question...are you the GOOD Kevin or the BAD Kevin? ;)
Andrew,
The "kid at Christmas syndrome" seems to be striking a lot of us lately, which is always a good thing! ;) Upgrading is the best part of HT ;)
Thanks for all of the encouragement for school! It's actually getting a little better now. I've found someone my age or older in both of my classes, someone who's there to learn not to screw off, and so hopefully this will be an easy semester.
I get to stay in my advanced English class, which is good. The professor handed out a writing assignment to determine who will be staying in the class, and I passed it :) I'm going to try to call her today to get some more feedback, but so far so good.
And Math with be pretty easy, its just a matter of resurrecting all of these old dormant brain cells to get back into the game. This is all stuff I've learned before, I've just got to refresh my memory.
Damn, gotta jet for now, everyone have a great Friday...

I was telling the PEO, it must be my evil twin! :) I'm definitely the good Kevin... I don't park on the wrong side of the road, get a ticket, and not pay the fine! :D
Congrats on the executive cubicle Joey!! One thing I've noticed since we've moved is that, the bigger an office one has, the less time they spend in it! Low-lifes like me are in our tiny, totally non-private cubes all day, and those who have offices with doors are there about 5 hours a week. Go figure. :)
Someone wanted me to post the stories about the knockout in my accounting class. I'm working on that.. there's not much to tell, just a major infatuation that permanently burned out entire clusters of brain cells in late 1986, and has had an effect on me ever since... I think part of my love for 80s music dates back to my two biggest infatuations in the 80s. Otherwise, there isn't much to tell, I never had the nerve to speak to her. Maybe she married my evil twin who lives in Massachusetts and drives a silver Saturn with the same plate number as mine... hmm... :)

Yes we do have a long weekend up here in Canada. It's called Labour Day. :)
My plans for the long weekend are pretty minor. Lots of rest. Have to get better for a killer September. We are planning a quick day trip down to Bellingham, so I might pickup T2 while we are there. Otherwise, I'm also taking the Tuesday off so as to avoid the insane back to school traffic out at UBC.
Andrew: That has got to be tough, drivers in, new speakers on there way...did I mention those maggies look really cool....I also mistaken a set of these as accoustical treatment/cubical dividers at one high-end store.:)
Kevin: Glad to hear that tickets been straightened out. That was me asking about the babe in accounting. :) Love to hear about women and accounting.
Joey: Good to hear that you're still in the advance Eng class. Although I kind of agree with Kevin, as it seems the bigger the office you get, the less time you spend in it. And you know what, I think teachers/profs like you to take an interest in the subject matter. I seemed to do better in classes when I did talk to the prof than when I didn't.
Some misc ramblings...What state has the license plate moto "Live Free or Die?" I saw it this morning on a minivan visiting from New Hampshire. Looks like I'm going to be picking up a Playstation this weekend. Should be fun. I'd love to wait for the PS2, but it just costs too much. Plus there's this dancing game that I have and I need a Playstation to use it with, can't bring myself to rent one. I was browsing through some dvds at a store yesterday and guess what I found. Platton, the first version with the Oliver Stone and Dale Dye commentaries. I don't know how rare this is, but I was disapointed when the re-release of Platton came out and it didn't have these commentaries.

"Live Free Or Die" is NH's state motto. I think it should be changed to "Live FREEZE & Die" considering the winters (and summers) around here ... heck, it's hotter outside today than it was in all of July!! I'll be jumping in the pool when I get home.
I'll post more on the accounting babe if I can think of anything relevant to say about her. Oh yeah, her name was Dina... for once I had a crush on someone who wasn't named Heather. ;) I might chronicle the day when I "discovered" that I had a crush on her, but that probably won't be today. :) There would be more to say if I actually had spoken to her. This was 14 years ago...now it's just the strange feeling I get when I listen to music from that time period. ;)
Just to make my Incoherent Rambling(tm) more incoherent... I'm going to help a friend from work wire up his friend's house for Home Theater and whole house audio. It's new construction and the sheetrock isn't up yet, I'll be spending the day running a million feet of speaker wire. It'll be fun, and I'll get a few bucks out of it, to go toward the subwoofer fund... :)

How hard is it to buy a Playstation??? This all started early this week when we saw a Playstation bundle at Costco, 2 games a hat and the unit for $185. Well I don't need a hat and one of the games sucked. So I decided to find out how much the main unit sold on its own. Well it goes for $140. The other game was Gran Tourisomo, which sells for $25. So I figure I'll just buy the unit and that one game and get a memory card. Well I saw a bunch last night in Burnaby, decided to wait for today when I had more time. Well, I went to Toys R Us, Futureshop, the Sony store and the Bay. All sold out. Looks like I'm heading back to Burnaby tonight to get my console. I was hoping I'd get an afternoon of gaming in, but looks like I got an afternoon of driving. :(
That's my rant for today. Oh wait, I have another one, seems like nobody ever checks our vacation schedule. As people have left me messages for meetings on Tuesday. Umm, I'm not here on Tuesday. Man I just wanted to yell! How frigging stupid can you be? Check the schedule! I don't know why we even bother with it. Okay, I think I'm done now. Off to pickup my wife.

Paul - I know exactly what you are talking about when people don't check the schedule to see if you are going to be around or not when they want a meeting. Last time I went on vacation, I left a message like this on my voice mail:
Hello, you've reached Greg Stone in Finance, and I will be on vacation from June 2 through June 10. If an emergency, press zero for the receptionist, or you can leave me a message and I'll call you back when I return from vacation on June 11. Thanks and have a great week.
One of the managers in the SAME building as me leaves this as a message:
Greg, we are having a department supervisor meeting Tuesday June 3 at 11:00. We will be discussing blah, blah, blah, so get back to me by 5 pm on Monday if this is not a good time for you. Talk to you later!
By the way, no, there is not an option on my voice mail to skip the message and go straight to leaving a message, this brain surgeon had to listen through my message and still left this!
Just proves there are almost as many grains of sand in the desert as there are idiots walking amongst us!

Boy am I glad the week is over. Hope everyone has a real good weekend. Long weekend at that,,Finally a holiday that is the same in both Canada and the U.S...To you guys in the U.S.,,Is there anything special that is done to celebrate this particular holiday?? Nothing special up here like fireworks or parades and such.
I plan on spending the weekend in the house rearranging my set-up and furniture to take advantage of the entire room and not just the half in which everything is now loacated. This will be a big job and will get extrememly brutal when I have to disconnect all of the equipment and reconnect..I don't know how I got everything together in the first place so this will be a challenge. The final results will provide a wider spread of the front speakers to widen the sound stage and also will give me the opportunity to corner load the Servo's..I can't wait until it is done. I hope the results will be an improvement over the current layout.
Joey,,looking forward to the 80's collection..A little care package is on route to Fort Collins.

The wife has to work on Sun. and Mon. so can't really make any big plans.
I might be going out 4-wheeling with a friend of mine. He and a bunch other guys take their 4x4 trucks out on some farmers back woods and tear around. I went with him one other time and it was a pretty good time.

Btw watched Braveheart last night and it was breathtaking .. a little grainy with some specs of dirt on it at times but I was too busy with the movie most of the time :)
Long weekend hmm might head off to Palm Springs with some friends as well as a trip up to Santa Barbara.. nice time for the beach :). Aside from that and squeezing in a few movies - not too much.
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Wow Paul, I think there are only 2 on that list I couldn't relate to or didn't remember! I truly am a child of the 80's, there will probably never be a time again like that. Made me remember back to 3rd or 4th grade, when our teacher asked if we could figure out how old we would be in the year 2000, and when I came up with 33, I thought I would never live that long! And now time just increases its speed each year it seems.
Trevor - nothing special here in the states either happens this weekend, ie no parades or fireworks, etc. Just a nice break from work!
Just finished watching Mallrats for the first time, and really liked it. Laughed hard several times and even my wife seemed to enjoy it. Now its off to bed. Everyone have a great weekend and be safe.

Good Morning Canada and America.
Its going to be a cold one today at 48 F and extremely windy. Thank goodness for HomeTheater,,our season is really upon us now,in Saskatchewan anyways.:)
Did lots of moving last night,,the rear speakers are set and the main seating area is in place. The next step is moving the Entertainment unit,TV and equipment over. This will be the tough part. I will be starting this soon and the goal is to be done before this evening so we can watch some movies tonight.
Joey,,I can give you a hint..You are going to receive something which is of Canadain flavor. Something that can actually be used. Except since you are an American citizen,,you can not use it unless you lived in Canada.
Any suggestions on what movies to rent this weekend,,newer releases!
Have a good Weekend everybody.

Trevor - you are in an exact opposite weather situation than me and my family. We are breaking the record high temps here daily, and are now on the 63 or 64th day with no rain. Todays high expected to be 109 or 110 F. Yesterday was 109F with an overnight low of 84. It is miserable right now. The air conditioner never shuts off it seems. Good thing is that it is now September, so it will have to start cooling off soon, maybe in a couple of weeks. BTW, have fun moving everything around!

Whoo hoo! A Canadian credit card? ;) Hmmmm, I really have no clue what it could be...do I get another hint or do I have to wait? :)
Greg,
It may be trivial, but man it was hard to keep up on all of these machines I had going at work. Someone would grab a machine and need to use it, and when I got it back I had to set it all up again, and check to make sure they were all still running. I got into the top 10, heck I even made it to number 8, that's good enough for me :) I kept telling Mandi, "All I wanna do is get into the top 10, then I'm happy!" Now I'll probably jet down the list at a rapid rate, but that's cool with me :) I hope I helped you guys out though :)

Morning from sunny south california :)
Trev: some nice popcorn movies to check out (if you haven't already) - Any Given Sunday (if you are a football fan this would be good, Oliver Stone does a decent job), Romeo Must Die (martial arts .. popcorn movie) Both have outstanding video and audio.
Other worthy new releases - Braveheart, Edward Scissorhands, Sound of Music, Leon (uncut) and of course the T2: Ultimate.
That is all I can think of so far...
WHOO HOO!!

PS Pl@, your second delivery is going to be shipped ASAP, I ran out of money and couldn't ship them, but I can early this next week :) I hope that's okay, sorry it's taking so long :)
Jehan,
When did Edward Scissorhands come out? And how on earth did that slip past me? ;) If it's out now I will go get it here in a few minutes, definitely.
Went and saw The Cell last night, and I really liked it. The plot was so-so, but the visualizations in that movie were absolutely great! Everything just worked so well, and there were some pretty freaky parts of that movie.
Mandi and I were the absolute ONLY people in the theater though, and it was a HUGE theater (it was a very late showing). So it made the movie a little freakier sitting in this gigantic empty theater, it helped to make the whole thing surreal...
Trying to decide whether or not I want to do my homework tonight or Monday...I wanna get it done tonight so it's out of the way, but part of me thinks that if I do it Monday it will still be fresh in my head when I return to class on Tuesday. I'll probably just wind up doing it tonight and reviewing on Monday or something.
Well, I'm going to go back to relaxing :)
Hasta!
Have fun at your BBQ Bing, hopefully the weather will clear up for you!

J6P, I can wait until you get my letter in the mail Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, you'll have plenty of moola when you get my letter, I promise you (of course, you have to toss in that 3rd speaker if you still have it). :D
I saw The Cell a couple of weekends ago, visually - very cool stuff. Story-wise, it needed one more re-write to tighten the ending up (plus the characterization was spotty at best). Worth a rental if you like cool visuals.
So Pat, how do the '80's sound? How's the mix?
Has anyone else been through their T2:UE DVD? Sheesh! I have seen the extended cut, and made sure I fast forward through the changes in the SPECIAL extended cut, and got through an hour of the commentary before I fell asleep last night. There's SO MUCH stuff on this DVD! I think I prefer the dts soundtrack (though I think the LFE from the DD side is pretty beefy).
I have begun creating my endcaps for Sunosub II this afternoon. I'm still hacking up sawdust as I type. I need to buy a terminal cup (2 sets of inputs) next Tuesday when my local audio store opens back up. But I've got the top endcap done (besides sanding and painting), and the bottom encaps just needs the terminal cup hole cut in, and the leg mounts attached.
And yes, I'm taking more photos again because while it's like the other project, it's a bit different (it's winding up looking like Andrew's due to me not have enough sonotube width for my initial bottom endcap design). I'm also including stuff like creating your own circular jig extension on the fly (I needed something that would allow me to make circles over 24" wide with my existing jig). The heavier PVC ports require a different bit of wood-working so that I need to create an edge that acts as a seat for the PVC tubes. And I'm also adding a slight edge on the endcaps to mate with the sonotube. It's more work, but it's just a little more time and effort, but I think it's worth it for the experience.
I'll be updating my DIY Sunosub II thread with pix soon, maybe later tonight or tomorrow.

I'm almost more excited to hear that you guys got it than you are to actually get it. Done,,Finally got everything together. What a nightmare everything became as it took me all day to complete this move. It actually became a little costly too as I had to go out and buy a new rack to put the gear into as there was no way I was going to get it all back into the entertainment center. Plus I needed to pick up 100 feet of 12g speaker wire to run the rears to the back wall.
Anyways the end result is I really need more power to run these speakers as everything seems quiet even at reference level. The rear surrounds are lost in the room against the back wall,,I don't hear them from the seating area and the rear level on the receiver is now set at +12. Tomorrow I will move them to sit directly behind the couch to see if this helps.
The worst part was connecting all of the components back together which I knew was going to be challenging. First I connected all the cables then powered up the gear to see if they worked properly..Well the first thing I tried was the Satellite,,No picture..after a while I figured out what was wrong. Next up was the DVD which I could not get any sound..The cause after an hour of frustration was the DTS decoder was connected wrong as a pass through..The Laser disc had no picture,,when this was corrected I then had no sound..So you can see what fun it was..It did take a while but I know have everything in order and working the way it should. I will never take on a project like this again,,well maybe until next year.
I did get a couple of movies which we are about to watch next,,,Any Given Sunday and The Next Best Thing. Thanks Jehen for the recommendations.
Bing,,do you think the rain will stop this weekend?? It has rained all day,,although I did not mind since I was working on a project..Maybe we wil get some snow:),,pretty cold out.
Greg,,hopefully you guys get some rain or cooler weather..Thats unreal the amount of days in a row with that extremely hot weather. Maybe your 80's collection has melted on its way to Texas,,the reason you did not get it yet.:)
Gregg L..About time you found the TTP:)..hopefully you can bump up those 3 posts to higher numbers.
Joey,,I won't tell you what I sent you but its mainly a souvenier for you.
Patman,,You making another sub? For me!!Thanks man.:D
Have a Good Night everybody.

Trev, sure, just come on by and pick it up next month! We'll dub it the SunoSchellShocker!
Bing, re: Magnolia: it was about lost opportunities and how holding on to the past can destroy a person's present and hinder their future, it was about redemption, making peace with your inner circle: mainly family, it's about inappropriate behavior among parent/child can destroy both of them in the process, it's about healing, and oh yeah, it's about "Shit happens!" with the frogs.
The main problem with this film is that it's got a good beginning, but the resolution of the interweaving storylines is just terrible and never truly weaves together (unless you count all the characters in that sing-along towards the end, which was a bold choice, but it didn't work). PT Anderson is too in love with his material and doesn't know when to edit out the superfluous, and how to finish a strong premise. I saw this at the movie theaters, and I, for the life of me, don't know why I pre-ordered this DVD, unless it was for more Frank T.J Mackey out-take material. :D

Hey Kids,
I fixed both Trevor's site and mine, when it comes to clicking on thumbnails. Now when you click a thumbnail the picture comes up in a window that's fitted to the picture's size. It looks a lot better than it did previously :) Check it out!
Plus, I have some new captions to some of the stuff on my page, mainly for the SonoSub finishing and the DIY mains :) I'm slowly structuring my page a little better, and adding new small features here and there :)

Bing,,I felt the same about the movie,,there was enough there to make you not turn it off, but at the end you are left wondering WTF. I didn't want to mention the frog scene as it could be a spoiler,,but that was outright weird.
Was watching the DVD 'Any Given Sunday'..just awesome!!,,Just go out and buy this one. I am not done yet and not even a football fan but this movie is excellent. The audio is blowing me away and I love how the music soundtracks are worked into it. My new set-up may have a role in this movie sounding the way it does. The Couch vibrates on every hit or tackle and I am sitting about 16 feet away from the subs and TV. You can no longer tell where the bass is coming from as you could before since we were seated right beside the subs. The room is filled with bass, this is awesome.

More Magnolia Spoilers
Thanks Pat, certainly it displayed all those qualitys that you mention about opportunity, healing and how shit happens. Deep down I knew all of the above was most likely the main message, and it took you pointing it out to me to confirm that.
There were some funny parts that had me chuckling at the concepts. Technically, I though the image transfer was great, and I certainly liked the sound track. Probally the main thing I disliked about show was it pissed me off constantly, with it's portrayal of these characters in their worse light, and the use of the score that was unrelentless in some scenes that I wish I could have shut that off, why does he continue on like that? I liked the opening "One is the Loneliest Number" untill it just kept dragging on and on and on... Rant off :W
It's not a bad film, I have seen worse. Tom Cruise actually surprised me with a session of plausable acting.

I hope everybody is having a great Sunday. Its overcast here and was raining until around noon. Im still trying to get up some gutters and get the house ready for tomorrow's lobster party. My wife wants me to do some painting but that is about my least favorite thing to do period so Im trying to make up some excuses but Im running out. I still have not gotten past the 2 nd CD of J6P's 80's set. It is very neat especially with the CD text stuff. Ive never understood why more stuff doesnt come with CD text encoding.
If worse comes to worse I'll have to stay inside and paint but then I'll have the stereo to listen to and will give CDs 3,4, and 5 a listen to. Actually I think I'm starting to enjoy painting now.:)
Trevor, what kind of wire are you using for the reinstall? I just rewired mine with Home depot 12 gauge and I think I really can tell a little difference. I was using rat shack 14 gauge prior. If somebody else was telling this to me I'd say your FOS, anyway maybe I am (FOS).
Gotta go, does anybody else have big plans for the weekend?

Hey Guys,,Its starting to clear up here,,actually seeing some sunshine.
I am really enjoying my new set-up of the living room. Feels like we are in a new home..the room does have a more cozy feel to it and just seems so big now to in comparision to how it was before. Then after watching 'Any Given Sunday' which sounded better than anything else I had ever played so far has gotten me pretty excited about watching more DVD's..All I had to do was move the rears closer to the couch to finish it to my liking.
Gregg,,I bought my wire at Future Shop. Two rolls of 50 foot long Acoustic Research 12 guage wire to match what I had used prior for the fronts.
I think there are a few people who were disappointed with the movie 'Magnolia'..I say this because a few days after it came out there was quite a few for sale at the HTF Software for sale area.
More movie watching coming tonight,,not sure yet what I will pick-up though.

Bing, here's the other problem with Magnolia: PT Anderson is in love with the music of Aimee Mann, and basically wrote his film around many of her new songs. I just don't think the synthesis of music and film in this instance blended well, as you pointed out. :D

Hey gang, just got back from the Saskatoon Symphony under the Stars. This was an outdoor performance in the Hotel Bessborugh Gardens. It was fantastic to hear all the live detail and deep bass kettle drums. Apperantly the mussket club could not show up for the 1812 overture, so they handed out paper bags to the cround to pop during the performance. It was surprizing how loud one paper bag was, much less 1500 or so.
Trev: American Pysco was at times funny for how serious, but silly the main character was. It was good to see, I wouldn't say it's a buyer, It's kinda violent in a sick but funny way? I don't think Tracy would appreciate it, Christine hated it.
Good choice in Cider House Rules, I found it enjoyable.

Just got done on a "double date" with Mandi, and my sister and and brother in law. The plan was we were going to eat dinner and go out for a movie. But when my brother in law saw that I had new speakers, and my sister saw I had the Sound of Music on DVD, it soon turned into a dinner and going back to J6P's house for a movie, heh.
Because we saved money on the movie we spent that much more for dinner, so we went to Hibachi Steak House, which is a city block away from me. It's GREAT food, where they prepare it from front of you, and do all of those crazy tracks with their cooking utinsels. I had the New York Steak (medium rare, more on the rare side) and scallops. I also had some Unagi, some California Rolls, and some Boston Rolls. They have amazing food there!
Then we came back and threw in the Sound of Music. The THX thing came on and my brother in law turns to me and says jokingly, "I gotta go change my shorts!!! That was awesome!!!" heh heh. That was pretty flattering, especially from someone who plays with home audio and car audio alot. So they approved of my setup, which was cool.
But my brother in law kept falling asleep during the Sound of Music, and was snoring and everything, so we put something else in for a while. My sister chose a movie that both of us love, Return to Oz. We watched that almost until the end, but it was getting late and they had to get home to let the babysitter go home :)
Anyhow, it was a good night.
I wish I could have more HTF friends over for a demo, maybe you guys should all consider moving to Colorado ;)

Ok, anyone on TTP have a DreamCast? I think J6P does, if so, please help me on this. I can get a complete system, 2 Sega controllers, 3 memory cards, light gun, rumble pack (don't know what the heck that is) and 9 games for $400. The guy lives about 3 hours away, so we could meet and eliminate shipping costs. Is this a good deal or should I wait and get a PS2 when they come out next month? Remember, I have two boys under 6 years old, so most of the daytime playing will have to be kid oriented. Does the Dreamcast have kid titles available as well as stuff like Seaman? Help me out please, don't want to get screwed on a good/bad deal.
Bing - the THX on sign on T2 does go into a speaker level calibration screen, much like the one on the Denon 3300. You can adjust your surrounds, LFE, etc right from that screen. There is so much stuff on this one disc you will not believe, I tried finding some of the hidden stuff last night. It is a great disc!
Thanks guys for any advice on the dreamcast and happy labor/labour day!

Greg,
I love the Dreamcast, it's a great system that has some beautiful graphics!
The only negative thing is there aren't many great games for it yet. There's your average sports games (NFL2K, NHL2K, NBA2K, Baseball, etc...), and some good fantasy games.
There's supposed to be some cool games coming out for it though as well. What you might want to do is check http://www.dreamcast.com to see a list of games. On the main page there you'll see Ecco the Dolphin, and that is definitely something you'll want to get, especially for kids. It's a fun game for someone like you or I to play, but kids can even play it for HOURS on end just because of how fun it is to swim around with Ecco, and jump out of the water and everything. I'm still trying to get past the first level though, so that tells you how complex the game CAN be. And yet, my nephew loves to play it as well :)
Shoot, gotta run...sorry, will be back later...

hey guys congrat's to all the full members...I always thought it would be funny to have the newbie's as bobbit's and then once you get past 40 you become full members:) Well my new speakers are on route as we speak, they haven't left Iowa yet but hopefully they'll be here late this week. Can't wait for the 80's collection to arrive I've heard a lot of the songs on the discs but it will be really cool to toss them in the mega changer and let it play randomly all night long. We were away since Friday night at a camp a couple of hours easy of Kenora (just north of Vermillion Bay) which was a blast. There were 20 adults and 10 kids..though two of the kids were in need so some serious parenting...man they were unruly and the parents just didn't seem to know how to deal with them. Frustrating to see really b/c you know its only going to get worse as they grow up (currently 2 yrs old). Other then that got in some fishing, canoeing, a little beer, reading and just plain relaxing...though the 4 hour drive back with all the weekend traffic wasn't that much fun:(

Yea, they were stuck good.
That is why we/they go out in groups so all you have to do is hook up a tow strap and yank you out. Then you just keep going until someone gets stuck again. Some of the guys will take the most difficult route just to see if they can make it. That is a lot of the fun...to see what you can and can't do.

Joey: Sounds interesting. My friend owned a Sushi house here in Saskatoon a few years back. I remember him making (preparing?) Yellow Tail for my friends and I. Don't you mean all WEEK long Andrew? ;) There's a whole lotta 80's going on these things, you could probably listen for a million years and not hear the same song twice. ;) Welcome back btw, glad you had fun (minus the unruly kids).
I'm trying to get some good software going to where we can talk over the internet for free as a group since I call a few of you here and there. Kind of a party line. I tried some out tonight, much to Greg Stone's dismay, heh heh (I called him but he couldn't hear me, all I heard was "Hello? Hello? Heeeeeellooooo?") ;) but nothing worked. Has anyone here used Roger Wilco before? We might try that. Any input?
Pat,
Man, I saw that truck and had to laugh. By looking at the picture, you'd think that truck wasn't going ANYWHERE! Looks like an absolute blast though! You should definitely post more pics when you get the chance! :)
Bing,
I can't help it, I LOVE Japanese food, raw or cooked. I'll definitely try anything once! You should definitely try Unagi if you never have, it's even cooked, but man it's got an amazing taste AND after taste...kind of sweet...mmmmmmm... I love calamari, but I don't care for squid in sushi. For some reason it doesn't appeal to me uncooked. But you get me in an Italian restaurant and I'll eat calamari until I burst!
Ok, so our first run for "Movie Recommendations" was kind of weak since I thought more people would be able to get Quidam by Cirque Du Soleil, but who's still interested if we can get more people to pick, and choose movies that are readily available? I think it's still a good idea, and have some great stuff to share :) Should we start next Monday with a pick, and then a different person each monday making a pick for that following weekend? :)
I didn't get ANYTHING done on my paper tonight, heh heh. It's a good thing I have nice classes, eh? I'll get it done tomorrow at work :)

Good evening. Catching up on some reading, looks like some people had a great weekend. I had a pretty decent weekend. I finally bought my Playstation on Friday night. So I played a bit of GT and tryied the dancing game. Well it appears that the dancing game that I have needs a chipped PS, rats. Saturday, went to check out a couple of game stores in a couple of chinese malls. Well first thing we ran across was a video store, and they were selling some LDs. Browsed through their selection and found the Japanese movie, Shall We Dance, it's a favourite of mine so I had to have it, and at $20, it was cheap. Was hoping I might stumble across a Star Wars or TPM, but no luck at this store. Found the first game shop and they will chip my PS but for $60 and it'll take 3-4 weeks. So I said I'll think about it.
Went to the next mall, and again, a video store was selling off their LDs. :) They had a better selection than the other store. Well to make a long story a litte shorter, I bought Space Jam, and a couple of Chinese KungFu movies. I wanted Space Jam before, but it was Pan and Scan on the dvd, and after watching it off the LD, I don't think I could stand the P&S version. Plus the sound was GREAT, and I don't even have an AC3 capable LD player. Now I'm thinking about what I need to make mine AC3 ready. :) The other Kung Fu movies were pretty good too. I paid $15 for one, $18 for another and $12 for Space Jam. Didn't see anything else worth buying, well MIB, but that's out on Tuesday.
Finaly made our way to the next game shop. They do the chipping and its only $50 and they only take half a day, hmmm now where will I get this done? Well I dropped it off today and it should be ready tomorrow. The guy that does it is on vactaion.

Good morning from the North coast!! (sort of). The lobster party was a blast, we all ate, ate, ate!! Lots of extra clams so we'll get to make some chower this week too. And I get to have lobster again tonight.
We listened to about 4 hours worth of J6P's 80's and everyone talked of the memories. It was cool and everybody wanted a set!
Earlier in the day I was listening to one of the tracks, an old Phil Collins tune and my son came running downstairs yelling "Tarzan, yey!!". It was quite funny that he could recognize Phil Collin's voice especially considering he is only 3.5 years old.
Gotta go, have a great day everybody.
PS whats going on at HTF I cant seem to log on?
Gregg
Kevin P
09-05-2000, 08:31 AM
I can't get into HTF either, it must be down. Yesterday afternoon (from home) I couldn't even get a DNS resolution to it... the ISP must be having problems again. At least we yanked the TTP off there and put it here so we're still in business! :)
So, what should I incoherently ramble(tm) about this morning?? Well, my friend and I got his friend's house in Amherst wired for sound on Saturday, took about 6 hours or so. It's so much easier when the insulation and sheetrock aren't up yet. We ended up going through 2 500' spools of wire and ran out before we were done (we got everything except the DD EX rear center run). It didn't help that we don't know where the component rack is going to be, so we had to have a LOT of slack at the component end of the wires so we could bring them up on either end of the room. In addition to the HT wires, they're also getting speakers in 3 additional rooms with volume controls, so the entire house is wired for sound. Once he picks out his gear, my next job will be programming his RC5000 (Marantz Pronto clone). What fun. ;)
After we finished wiring the house, we came back to my house and I pulled my extra center channel speaker out of the attic and put it behind the couch, and wired it up so I could try out the 6.1 surround mode on the Outlaw 1050. We put on T2:UE and it sounded great. That evening, my sister came over and we watched the whole thing, but we didn't use the rear center since we decided to watch it in DTS. What a movie--I haven't seen it in years.
It looks like The Haunting DTS is on its way--better late than never--now I'm really gonna need that sub!! :)
Yesterday my wife and I saw What Lies Beneath at the Lowell cinema (we go there because they have Dolby Digital sound instead of the crappy analog audio that every theater near us has). The movie was a lot more intense than I expected it to be, and my wife didn't care for it. I had picked it because I like a ghost story (I thought it would be like Sixth Sense) and because of the cast and director (Harrison Ford, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert Zemeckis)? So I can't spell their names, but they make good movies. ;)
KJP
P.S. Edited to correct spelling of Pfeiffer & Zemeckis--had to look it up on imdb.com :)

Man, I am so tired this morning! These 3 day weekends ruin me for the whole week. I got used to going to bed around 3 a.m.
I had a great meal at my cousin's place last night: bbq ribs and chicken! MMmm..mmmm!
I didn't really care for What Lies Beneath because it was too predictable (I just knew every little early tidbit would show up in the resolution of the film, and I was right). I was actually hoping it would be about what the trailer was leading the audience to think it was going to be about, that would have been a little more interesting. It's just not a movie I'd see again on my own volition.
Still making a little bit of progress on the Sunosub II, but it's a good thing I've got plenty of time before the Tempest driver actually shows up. Wait until you see the new legs I bought for it, they are stout! :D
Hope everyone one had a good weekend!

Hey Greg,
I hate to say it, but I got email from both the guys in England this morning stating they received their 80's collections ;) Man, that's bad when I can ship something to ENGLAND faster than it will get it a neighboring state! I should have walked it down there instead, heh...
You should get it today with any luck :)

Joey it all depends on the timing when mailing things over sea's. My parents live just north of Toronto and they can send things faster to my relatives then me! If she mails things on a tuesday they seem to hit the right flights etc and they get to England extremely quickly. The two packages I've got in the mail with UPS seem to be flying very quickly so I should get me new speakers this week. Hopefully the 80's collection will arrive as well though it would suck if the collection arrived before my speakers since I'm using my rear bipoles as mains at the moments and while it works for ambient sound they aren't ment for use as mains.

So the Brit's got the TTP 80's before us Canucks?
It is like Andrew states, I bought something from Scotland once that came in a week, while most things from the States are always 2 weeks at best.
Pl@, Mmmmm...Bar Bee Que! Ours was rained out on Saturday :(
Well I sold my old Energy 22, Pros to a co-worker and he stated that they worked well in 5 ch music matrix mode, but when he played "The Lost World" on VHS he did not have any sound coming from the surrounds (that's where the Energy's went), though he did hear hissing of his amp though the surrounds(Sony 1015. I'll have to go trouble shoot for him tonight.

Damnit, my paper is due in 6.5 hours. it should only take me 2 hours to write, but I can't think of what to use. The topic is "Remembering an Event", but I can't think of jack sh*t to write about. *sigh*
And as much as I'd like to see what kind of a reaction I would get with, "And this one time, at band camp..." I don't think it would help my grade any, heh.
Dang dang dang...gotta think of something, as this is %20 of my grade...

Gregg--I'm not much of a woodworker, and I'm too busy on the weekends to drive 3 hours each way and find time to build a sonotube in between (which most likely won't fit in my car anyway). But keep me posted on the amp.
Pl@: You're building another Sunosub? What are you going to do with the old one? I'd be glad to take it off your hands for you! :)
Joey--best of luck on the paper. I don't know what event you'd pick, maybe the time you knocked over your speaker... oh, they weren't looking for that kind of event?? :)
On to other Incoherent Rambling(TM)... I tried out the CD burner in my new PC at home over the weekend... the Adaptec 4.02 software is nice, I need to get a copy here at work... I copied a couple of my CDs and added CD Text to them (and that cddb.com thing is cool, didn't have to type in the titles)! I then tossed them into my car CD changer (the only player I currently own that supports CD Text) and the titles display on the head unit! What's even cooler is I can press a button on the head unit and it'll display the titles of all the CDs in the changer (well, those with CD Text anyway). Way cool! Now I need to make CD Text copies of all my CDs! :)

Cool! Glad you like it Dan :) So far no negative reviews :)
My professor said this stupid paper can be fiction if we wanted to, so I was thinking of going for shock value to see what kind of a reaction I can get from the class and the professor, but making the paper a damn good one in the process.
Here are some ideas:
"You've never really lived until you kill someone in cold blood..."
or:
"My life was changed when I got the operation that made me a man..."
or basing it off a movie even:
"I was born a poor black child..." (from "The Jerk")
Obviously I won't do any of these, but I'd LOVE to do something increbibly outlandish just to see what kind of facial expressions I could put on the faces of the class ;)

Kevin, regarding the incoherant rambling, you could just throw all your CDs in a bon fire, and go back to using 8 track. It's truly the only car medium ever made! If you don't like what's on the track currently playing, just jiggle it around, and you get an entirely different track! lol.
Ahhh sonic blips, I mean bliss. :)

Well it seems lex is both old (knows what 8 tracks are) and has no life (see post count!) My wife has a great aunt that lives near us that still listens to 8 tracks on a machine her late husband bought eons ago. Well the damn thing occassionally stops working for some unknown reason and guess who has to go over and fix it:) I've "fixed" it twice now but to be honest I have no idea what I did other then just unplug it, twiddle with the knobs and keep trying new tapes...eventually it just seems to come back to life. Other then that machine thats the only 8 track machine I've "played" with

What if I talk about getting into Home Theater and its impact on my movie viewing? Would that make me too much of a geek? ;)
That allows me to meet some of the guidelines:
Must tell an entertaining story (if me knocking over speakers with my ass and forgetting to turn them on isn't entertaining then I don't know what is, heh)
Must have a lot of description, gotta be vivid (hell, that one is cake! I can easily describe the sound coming from all directions, to put it point-blankly)
Must be purposeful in my life (Yeah right, like I need to explain that one to you guys...) ;)
Must include self-presentation but not unwanted self-disclosures (I can tell them I knocked over the speaker with my butt, but I don't need to tell them what kind of boxers I was wearing while doing so)
Must build to a point (I can go on about fumbling around with the gear and building up to the first time I turned the power on)
Must lead "readers" to think of things in a new way (I'll make sure they get frustrated when they go home and watch a VHS, listening to the sound through the TV speakers, and then Soundtrack/Circuit City/Best Buy can give me a kick-back when the entire class goes to buy HT gear!)
What do you think, lame or good? She said to write what you know, and I know my own personal HT :) And it can be part fiction, so I can explain the HT as I have it now, but as though it were my first setup a year or so ago, I don't need to explain that I have a TV, a VCR, a DD receiver, and some cheap KHL satelites...

Well, with 3 buy.com $10 off $30 coupons, I rectified the situation with 5 orders (with different emails and credits card, the sky's the limit) of 2 DVD's (well, there was that one which was a Toy Stoy 3-pack). I had a great American combo pre-order: American Beauty/American Psycho. :D

Hey, count me in for those 80s tunes on 8-track! Then all I would need is an 8-track player! But I have CD and MiniDisc in my car... so I could take the 8-tracks and record them to MD!
Hmmm.. those tunes started out as MP3s, then converted to CD, then recorded to 8-track, then recorded to MD... I wonder what the sound kwalitie would be like--probably like the tapes I recorded off of FM when I was in high school, onto those Radio Shack Concertapes (the 3-packs that always jammed), most of which were recorded on a $20 mono tape recorder connected via the AUX jack to the earphone jack of a clock radio! Now how's that for low tech! By my senior year I had upgraded to a $40 boombox that could record in stereo directly from the tuner--yowsa! :)
Any chances of getting the 80s tunes on Edison wax cylinders while we're at it? ;)

This has really accelerated over the last day,,had to read two pages to catch up. Good to see everybody enjoyed their long weekend. To bad we don't have two of these every month and it would also be a good idea to shut things down on Wednesday at noon like they used to many years ago.
I arrived late,,so I don't know what Bing broke as everything seems to be normal right now,,anyway,,way to go Bing!! breaking things that don't belong to you.:D ,,Bad!
Greg,,I would think this is Chapter 7 and since it is still running fast why don't we continue on to 1000 posts like we did with the original one,,Any thoughts on this?
Edward Scissorhands is recorded in 4.0 dolby ,,so no use of the sono's..I bought it anyways.

Trevor,
You can bet I'll let you know when it gets here...I still worried as to what it may be ;)
I turned in my rough draft today, and stayed late to speak with my teacher about my first initial paper I wrote last week, to see if I could stay in the class or not. I'm not sure if she was just blowing sunshine up my ass (I love that term, always cracks me up) or what, but she said mine was among the top three in the class. But then again, after looking around today I'm in class with a bunch of yokels! Seriously, this paper is worth %20 of our grade, and the bonehead next to me didn't even do it. He was typing in up all through the hour we were there. Can you believe it? Other people turned in a half a page. She said specifically 2-3 pages (mine was 3 almost exactly). It's too bad she's not grading on a scale.
The top three huh? Looks like I have two people to compete with. I know who one of the girls is, and she's REALLY creative, so it's going to be hard...
If I can keep this up in both of my classes I should be able to get an A in both :) That would be cool, my first semester back in college and I get 2 A's...here's to hoping!
Mandi got me Edward Scissorhands and MIB DTS tonight, so I was pretty stoked about that! You're right Pl@ (I think you were the one who stated that previously, don't wanna scroll back though that mess to find out, heh), Edward Scissorhands has a BEAUTIFUL transfer! Looks amazing! MIB ain't half bad either!

That's outta control... When someone get's lambasted for something as innocent as that. What has OAR done to us? Your right, it just "Chaps my Ass" when this type of stuff happens. I had to post something to our brother's defence.
Way to go with the paper Joey!
Hey any of you buying MIB, which version are you getting, DD, DTS, or the extra special, super duper DD version (sorry can't remember the real name)?
I have been working on my Box sub design all evening on AutoCad, man using double laminate 3/4 is sure going to double the amount of work and I may as well forget about moving it. Ahh well, I have a 250 lbs TV, no reason I shouldn't have a sub that weighs the same :)
Oh I went to my friend's place that bought my Energy 22's, (he wasn't getting surround) The problem was he was passing the VCR signal through his TV first before sending it to his Sony 1015 Prologic receiver. I connected it up to properly and he was very impressed with it, as was I for a VCR, Prologic system. Funny how a TV can strip out the surround channels. He has the PSB Stratus Silvers as mains, man those sure are nice speakers.
G'night all!

Sounds like you're doing well in your class there Joey. Now you'll get to meet some REAL Joe6Ps :) and educate them on all the merits of watching movies with black bars ;) and maybe teach them a little basic English and math while you're at it :)
Sounds like that 80s collection is cool. I didn't order one since I figure I have most of the songs already on CD, but if you could do me a favor Joey and email me (click the email link above) with the list of songs, I might have you send me some of the MP3s of ones I don't have.
My Haunting DTS arrived yesterday, now all I need is a sub! Unfortunately I only get paid once a month, 2 more weeks to go before I have money again after buying the PC...
Gregg, do you have any idea when you'll get your new amp? I'm shooting for end of September/early October to get my SVS. Of course, in a pinch I can always use my old Rat Shack 100wpc receiver that I amp my keyboards with temporarily if I end up with an ampless sub.
Of course, the Pioneer DV-37 is announced, and I'm looking for a decent progressive scan player, so I'll have to save up for that too! So many toys, so little money... hey, can any of you guys with some wealth offer any tips?? :)

Just some more Incoherent Rambling(tm) to increase my post count (do you think I'll ever reach 1000 here like I did on HTF??) :)
Joey, let me know when you get the list of 80s toonz online!
Hmmm...Thriller... I'll have to get my hands on that one. MJ has never licensed his songs for use on compilations, so I'll probably just have to get a copy of Thriller and add it to my own. :)
It reminds me that I have got, just GOT to get started on my Halloween sounds. I don't know when I'll find the time to do it. This will probably be the last year I do it, if I do it at all, since I use my keyboards so infrequently that I should just sell them and get them out of the house. I should be able to get a few DVDs for them--or maybe that progressive scan DVD player I've had my eyes on. :)
Joey: I'd love to read that paper you wrote for class, especially since you managed to work Home Theater and sonosubs into it. :) Would you care to post a synopsis, or put the original version on Joey6p.com? :)
Not much else to say right now... we need to start a fascinating topic to get this thread going again, like ghost stories (Joey--I know you have a few!), or more dating stories from our pasts, or how about this one: what memories have Joey's 80s tunes brought back for you? Or how about this one. I'll mention an 80s song, and you can tell what memories that song brings back for you.
Here's the first song: "Send Me An Angel" by Real Life. Let's hear those memories. :) I'll post mine later today.

Dan, you freaked me out big time! I'm going through writing down ALL of the tracks in order and came across that song. I was coming on here to tell everyone to listen to it without saying what the actual song was (Disc 8, Track 4, not like you don't know what it is now, heh), and there were the lyrics to what I was listening to, right in front of me ;)
How's the music Pl@? Everyone still listening to it? :) If so what are they, and YOU, saying about it now? :) I'm curious as hell to hear what everyone's reactions are as they listen to the whole thing :)

Joey--I found a copy of TTP V I had archived on my PC and I was perusing it and found a track list from the planning stages of your 80s collection. The list has 207 tracks on 13 discs. Is this the same as the final list, or were there revisions? The list was posted July 30, and the last song listed was "Life in a Northern Town" by the Dream Academy. If this list is accurate you don't have to send me a new list. :)
What are you guys listening to right now? What memories are they bringing back? Did the random song I mentioned "Send Me an Angel" stir anything? Hmmm.. Joey's list from 7/30 doesn't have this song. Maybe I'll have to make Kevin's Incoherent 80s Tunes Collection, with all the songs I have that Joey missed. Put the two collections together and they'd be really complete! :)

J6P, mostly, it's still just laughter, and "omigod, I haven't heard that in ages" and "Is that Janet Jackson? Holy Shit!" And then Wham gets played, and some rolling of eyes occurs. But these are all good signs. I'm on the "Gloria" disc (#4?) now. I got a chuckle with "Jump" started playing. 2 thumbs up, J6P!

Whats the title of the track 7 on disc 6 guys? I remember this as from the film Big, with Tom Hanks in. They're bouncing around on a trampoline to it in the movie... I'm not sure which is scarier, the the fact that you'd humor me in a sick game to try to trick people, or that you KNOW what's on a Kathy Lee Gifford CD ;)
For Christmas one year my mom wanted a Kathy Lee Gifford CD, and nothing but. She begged me for it (there are FOUR kids in the family, how the hell did I wind up with this lucky pick???), so I agreed. But I couldn't go into the CD store and ask for it. It wouldn't have been right. I just couldn't do it. So I paid my brother 20 bucks to go in the store for me and get it ;) He agreed, and I saved face. The length we go to sometimes...
I'm worried that she's going to want a DVD player this year and ask for the Special Edition box set of Ishtaar ;)

Andrew, share with me your technique to caulking your top endcap while also attaching the batting material to the inside of the sonotube! I haven't figured out a good way to do this yet.
I was thinking of caulking the top endcap and making it drum tight, but then I am not sure what to do about attaching the batting material from the bottom side easily. Maybe I'll try using velcro strips to attach the batting to the sides.

Morning everyone, I woke up at 4 this morning all stuffed up and chilly, I really have to start thinking seriously about moving to Florida. :D And of course, I couldn't get back to sleep and I got a song going in my head, one I heard yesterday driving home from work, and yessiree, it was a classic 80s song!! Wishing (If I Had A Photograph Of You) by A Flock Of Seagulls. Hey Joey, do you have that one in your 80s collection? :)
I first heard (and taped) that song after the 82-83 school year ended (my sophomore year in HS, I was "sweet 16"), the year I had the crush on the first Heather, and this song was perfect for that, wishing I had a photograph of her. Brings back some memories... :)
Thanks Gregg... after I get paid on the 20th I'll be ordering my SVS. Then my home theater will be "complete". Well, complete in the sense that there won't be anything missing, but there will always be room for upgrades (progressive scan DVD player anyone?) :)
If the kids were distracting you while watching MIB, then you weren't playing it loud enough! :)
D*mn! I still have that danged tune going through my head! I'll have to pull the CD out of the car changer and spin it while I work... :)

Morning kids!
Guess who got an "A" (or %100 if you will) on their first math exam...the person who sits next to me in math!!!
Just kidding, I did :) She gave some problems and we had to solve them (generally how a math exam works, heh heh), and I did my first one by hand, which was a big part of the exam. Then I did it on my calculator (PS, anyone have one of these left over for school for sale? Can't afford a new one so I borrow Mandi's..it's the TI-83) and it came up with a different answer. So I double checked my work, and I KNEW I had to be right, but the calculator STILL came up with a different answer. But I put my faith in my work and turned it in as it was. After class I asked the professor if we could go over it, and sure enough, I got it right when I did it by hand! So I gotta learn how to use this darn calculator someday!

Sorry Pat i ment to answer that in the other thread. The bottom endcap was glued in and has nails every few inch's to ensure a solid seal. The top end cap was put in last which in hind site is opposite to what I should have done since its a long way to crawl in the tube to fix issues then you have to crawl in from the top. Anyway since the bottom was already in place I slid the sock over the top and down to the bottom. The bottom of the sock already had a finished edge to it so I just used my hot glue gun to fasten it in place. For the top I applied a thin layer of glue to the top of the tube and glued the sock over the lip. I then used a sharp knife to trim the fabric back so there wasn't any fabric inside the tube. A good helpping to silicon was then applied to both the inside edge of the tube and the lip of the top end cap and it just dropped right in. I used clear silicon which I though was the right idea...again next time (why do I think there will be more Sonosubs in the future?) I will use black silicon since a little will ooze out and you can see the clear stuff (very minor and likely only I see it but its there)

Ok Kevin, an 80's memory for you, inspired by a song...I gotta make this quick though we're leaving in a few minutes, but I have English class tonight so I figured it'd be good to get the creative juices flowing anyhow...
Song: Live to Tell, by Madonna
Unlike the rest of Madonna's song this one doesn't speak about rolling around on the floor and all of that. This one is actually a great song.
I used to go to Camp every so often at Camp Cedar Glenn. That was the time of my life. I was part of a big circle of friends, and not your typical "band camp" type of people, these were really awesome people!
I went every year, and every year it tore me apart to have to leave. Everything was just so great up there, people welcomed you, there was so much to do, and there was magic in the air (I'm probably going to get razzed for typing all of this, heh).
Anyhow, in the camp's off season people would volunteer to go clean the place up, which I would do with my parents. It was so bitter sweet to see the place though. I mean, it was still Camp Cedar Glenn, but a critical piece was missing...my friends that were always there. I guess you could say it was like viewing a dead person...it looks like what you know, but it's just a shell...
Anyhow, I'd hike up to the cross on the top of this mountain by myself and look down into the valley while listening to my walkman. And one day I had a tape on me that had my favorite songs, and that song was on there. I must have hit "rewind" half a dozen times, as the mood of that song captured my mood to a 'T' to see Camp Cedar Glenn as it was then. The lyrics have nothing to do with it, just the mood of the music itself.
May be really cheesey, but it's an important memory to me, and I thought I'd share it. Sorry I can't go into more detail, gotta run, paper's due tonight I think...
Hasta!
J6P

Pat, it must be true, we "Pat's" think alike. I haven't checked into the HTG since work, and now I'm checking in. In the interim, I went to Home Depot, looking for a hot glue gun, and while I was there I strolled by the glue section, and I spotted Elmer's Adhesive Spray. I tested it on some plastic on a pallet, and I was sold. I picked up 2 cans of the stuff! :D I plan on laying it on thick!
J6P, yeah, I really liked the mix on Disc 13. I'm working my way backwards listening at home. Disc 12 was also good (except for that last song). Now I'm on Disc 11 (Relax!) I can't listen to all the songs at work since I have to leave my office periodically and stroll around and look busy. :D

Evening guys. Just got back from the staff fishing trip. Our boat tagged and released the most Sturgen today, so we all got caps. We tagged a total of 7, ranging in size from 61cm to 164cm, or 24-65 inches. The biggest one was about 100lbs. My largest was about 40lbs. But my arms are about to fall off as I helped the guide bring in the fish to do the tagging.
Can't wait for the 80's collection.

Here's a Blonde Joke for some humour:
A blonde decides one day that she is sick and tired of all these blonde
jokes and how all blondes are perceived as stupid, so she decides to show
her husband that blondes
really are smart.
While her husband is off at work, she decides that she is going to paint a
couple of rooms in the house. The next day, right after her husband leaves
for work, she gets down to the task at hand.
Her husband arrives home at 5:30 and smells the distinctive smell of paint.
He walks into the living room and finds his wife lying on the floor in a
pool of sweat. He notices that she is wearing a ski jacket and a fur coat
at the same time.
He goes over and asks her if she is OK.
She replies yes.
He asks what she is doing.
She replies that she wanted to prove to him that not all blonde women are
dumb and she wanted to do it by painting the house.
He then asks her why she has a ski jacket over her fur coat.
She replies that she was reading the directions on the paint can and they
said:
"For best results, put on two coats."
Have a Good Night everybody!!

Just an FYI, I am enjoying the J6P 80s Collection so much that Joey offered to send it to me in MP3 too so I can load it on my laptop and desk top computers. I think it will take me a long while to get tired of all these tunes. As a special thank you I sent him some $$$ to take Mandi out on the town as she deserves it for putting up with him.:)
I bought another receiver last night. The Yammaha 995 or is it 955? Anyway, my brother has been wanting one so Im pushing him into it. The price seemed right even though I really thought he should go with the Denon 3300. Anyway, what can I say besides he has Bose all around, and on his deck, and in his pool room, (well you get the idea).
Have a great day everybody!!

Morning everyone, time for some more of my Incoherent Rambling(tm).
Gregg--let me know about the amp when you're ready to sell it. I'll be ordering my SVS in a couple of weeks and I'll be needing one. How much are you asking for it?
I downloaded a couple of MP3s last night, for the first time ever. I was looking for a song but wasn't sure who the artist was, so I didn't want to just order a CD on blind faith, so I found a MP3 to verify that it was the song I wanted (It's Inevitable by Charlie). I don't know what all the hubbub is about, I found the sound quality, at least on the ones I downloaded (a 256kbps one and a 160kbps one), weren't any better than when I was taping songs from FM in high school. Through headphones they sounded ok, but on the stereo or in the car they sounded tinny and compressed, much like a tape made from an FM broadcast. I'll have to A/B the MP3 against the tape I made 17 years ago and see how they compare. Perhaps it's just the ones I downloaded, but they don't quite reach CD quality in my experience. For those who want to cry "piracy!", I'll be buying the CD now that I know what CD to get. :)
Joey-- I have some memories associated with that Madonna song too. That song was popular during the peak of my accounting class infatuation in college (Dina, I've mentioned her before in the TTP ;)), and is one of many songs that have become permanently associated with that somewhat unstable period in my life.
It's funny, I was looking at the song list from the 80s collection, and I was thinking, I have a ton of songs that aren't in there. It makes me realize how many great songs came out back then. A complete collection of the great 80s music would probably fill 80 discs! :)

Kevin, I've seen a list of over 1000 songs from the 80's, and over 90% of them, I knew and thought they were decent. I like the songs from the 80s, much more than the songs from the 90's, and from the 70's too.

I agree with you Pl@... there were a lot of good songs in the 70s, even a few disco tunes were decent, but there was a lot of disco garbage as well. The 80s stuff is the best, after the disco garbage ended and before the crap rappers and no-talent boy bands of the 90s came along. I think sampling and looping technology has had an effect too--how many crap rap songs actually use original music? Almost every one is a looped sample of a song from the 70s or 80s. Total musical and artistic talent required: zero. Just a computer with a soundcard, a microphone, and a tape recorder, and something to say.
I wonder if the decline of quality music in the 90s has to do with school budgets in the 70s and 80s being cut and music education getting the brunt of it. There are fewer kids getting out of school with any musical talent anymore.
I'm glad I was in high school in the 80s... during the time when I really got into listening to the radio, buying tapes/CDs, was when the best stuff was coming out. I'd hate to be in high school now with all the garbage they listen to now.

Morning all from the GW North!
Once upon a time, there lived a man who had a terrible passion for baked beans. He loved them, but they always had an embarrassing and somewhat lively reaction on him.
One day he met a girl and fell in love. When it was apparent that they would marry, he thought to himself, 'She'll never go through with the marriage with me carrying on like this,'
so he made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans.
A few months after they were married, the man was on the way home from work and his car broke down. He called his wife and told her that he would be late because he had to walk.
On his way home, he passed a small cafe and the wonderful aroma of baked beans overwhelmed him. Since he still had several miles to walk, he figured he could walk off any ill affects before he got home. So he went in and ordered, and
before leaving had three extra large helpings of baked beans.
All the way home he putt-putted. He putt-putted down one hill and putt-putted up the next. By the time he arrived home he felt reasonably safe. His wife met him at the door and seemed somewhat excited. She exclaimed, "Darling, I have the
most wonderful surprise for you for dinner tonight!" She put a blindfold on him, and led him to his chair at the head of the table. Just as his wife was about to remove the blindfold, the telephone rang. She again made him promise not to peek until she returned, and she went to answer the phone.
While she was gone, he seized the opportunity to rid himself of a fart that had been building up pressure. He shifted his weight to one leg and let go. It was not only loud, but ripe as a rotten egg. He had a hard time breathing, so he felt
for his napkin and fanned the air about him. He had just started to feel better, when another urge came on. He raised his leg and BBBRRORRPPP!!. It sounded like a diesel engine revving, and smelled worse. To keep from gagging, he tried fanning his arms a while, hoping the smell would dissipate.
Things had just about returned to normal when he felt another urge coming. He shifted his weight to his other leg and let go. This was a real blue ribbon winner; the windows shook, (SonoSubs hide)
the dishes on the table rattled, and a minute later the flowers on the table were dead. He kept an ear tuned in on the conversation in the hallway, and, still blindfolded, he carried on like this for the next ten minutes, farting and
then fanning each time with his napkin.
Hearing the phone farewells, he neatly laid his napkin on his lap and folded his hands on top of it. Smiling contentedly, he was the picture of innocence when his wife walked in. She apologizing for taking so long, and asked if he had peeked at the dinner table. After assuring her he had not peeked.
She removed the blindfold and, "Surprise!"
To his shock and horror, there were twelve dinner guests seated around the table for his surprise birthday party.

Andrew, I entered that contest. I didn't much of Rounders when I saw it in the theaters, but since I play poker once or twice a month with some of my buds, Rounders gets plenty of referencing, so I've taking a liking to this movie (plus Famke Janssen is in it).
J6P, thanks dude! I can't imagine the MP3 version takes up more than 2 CD-Rs (unless they are 256K versions).
I even went home during lunch to do more work on Sunosub II. I did some sanding and re-applied some more wood filler for some spotty crevices and hope it is dry when I get home so I could sand some more. :D

How's this for funny...I've been to Mail Boxes Etc. so much lately that they GAVE me a stack of Customs slips so I can fill them out before I get there if I'm shipping more stuff to Canada. Kevin, how does $275 sound and I'll pay for shipping?I just jumped onto the Daddy's Junky Music website (a local chain that sells lots of used stuff) and they were selling used CS800s for $400 and up, so $275 sounds good to me!! Email me and we'll swap addresses, make payment arrangements, etc.
Joey--I would be interested in the MP3s, but I was thinking that I don't need the songs I already have (about half of them I figure), so sometime next week I'll go through your list and pick the ones I want, is that OK? Maybe we can whittle it down to one CD-R.
There's a pizza party in the kitchen here at work, so I'm signing off for the day. Have a great weekend everyone!!!

You see i though it was going to be an Aluminum Box, you know with the hinges and snap closure? It seems more of a pain to have this sleeve in place.
So what's a person suppose to do with this sleeve?
Jehan, my fellow T2 mentor, what are you doing with yours, displaying it? Storing it, not opening it?

Went to A&B today to pickup T2. They had about 25 when I got there so I was able to pick out a nice cover. I too wish it was a box, or at least had a bottom. By the time I left, there was only 6 copies left. I also picked up Tarzan SE, or I should say my wife picked it up, she compared the price to the regular version, and it was only $0.50 more.

Trev, FutureShop, $30.99.. Funny thing, I was on my way back for Harry Bailey Pool and decided to stop in at A&B sound. I proceeded up to the DVD section looking for T2/UE and was told it was further delayed. I said but I seen Future shop had it in the today's flyer. He went on to say, they wouldn't have it either and that those flyers were most likely printed before it was announced that it would be further delayed until the 18th or something like that. I though, OK, he seemed like he was honest enough about it, so I proceeded to wander around the hardware sections(Picked up more IXOS Andrew.... :B ) When I was there I decided to give FutureShop a call, well they said they had plenty in stock... :? What was this guy at A&B telling me? I didn't go back to that guy rather, I just made tracks to FutureShop.
They had about 15 or so more on the shelfs, so you should be alright if you go there tommorrow.
Just finished watching a few scenes, the DTS sounds pretty good, I don't know if I like all the new scenes in the SE version, but some are very welcome.

Bing: When I was at a&b yesterday, I overheard a comment from a sales clerk to a customer. The customer wondered why the shelves weren't as stocked as usual, and the answer was something like if you don't pay you distributors you don't get any discs. This surprised me a bit as a&b is a pretty big store around here. I have noticed that prices for HT gear have gone up.
