Yikes, it sounds so serious! Wouldn't " HTML is not enabled" be more passive? Heh...if I post HTML am I going to get beat down by the HTML police?

" Sir, step away from the HREF tag slowly..."

Oh, and it says Number of Post instead of number of Posts, plural, tsk tsk...am I getting annoying yet? ;)

Andrew Pratt

Hey Andrew,,The Pronto is working great,,probably since I haven't stepped on it or dropped it yet.:) I have everything programmed into it including the NAD,RPTV,LD,DSS,CD,DVD..I still need codes for the vCR which I will search for. I haven't done anything with the Macro's yet but that will be next when time allows. So far I find this remote to be absolutley amazing. To cool!!

Trev, good to here the Pronto is working well. Man, I got to get me one of those one day. It would be too much fun and then I could join in the Pronto Club Fun!

Andrew. It looks like it was a wash for the bass shakers cost wise, only thing being that you have them in hand now. Let me know how they turn out. I too was thinking about getting them, at $40 bucks, that's a cheap experiment. How can a person loose? :)

No tag backs ;) Nya-Nya Nya-Nya Nya Nya

I realized that today about " freaking" , I had to ask myself, where the hell did I pick that word up from anyhow? I totally don't get it, for sure! It's, like, a mystery to me or something...

Anyone know of any good diets that a poker like myself could go on? I'm a little more " pleasantly plump" than I care to be...mostly around the " love handles" . My jaw dropped when a girl at work said I was the perfect weight to " make a girl feel like a woman" , and since I'm not quite sure how to take that, and was pretty much horrified at that point, I've decided to get serious about losing weight. Just like 15-20 or so and then I'll be back to normal. Anyone know of any?

My oldest daughter tells me there is a Rave/party club in Winnipeg called the Opium den or lounge. She was really in to that scene last year.

Andrew or Joey, if you have WinISd, I would like to send you 3 projects to look at. Then tell me which one to build once you have looked at the gain curves...etc

Currently I have 3 inclosure sizes I can build to. I would like to build the smallest enclosure size possable, but if lower extention can be had for only a few liters more, I may go for it.

Right now it's down to

110 Liter

116 Liter

136 Liter

Not sure on an exact time Bing, I gotta get this school junk taken care of first...maybe we should have a big HT Thanksgiving where all of our families get together. That would be cool ;)

What's the place like that your daughter described? Did she go into any detail on the atmosphere (ahhhhh, the atmosphere) of the place? And specifically what kind of music? If so, I'll make sure we all get together somewhere close by in the future ;)

Joey, she did not go in to great lengths about the atmosphere... I was reading your post while she was over for supper. I just casually asked her about any Rave clubs in Winnipeg and she mentioned that one.

Greg, you breaking things agin? Good Job!

Lex, you must be thinking " What's with this apple dumpling gang, what the heck is going on, doesn't this crap belong in another area??"

Thanks for letting us continue. The fact that is is a topic about nothing, in an unexpected area is the whole charm of it all. We proclaim squatter rights to the area.

Truthfully, it started as a Test page on the HTF. it just grew from there. The test page became like a local pub for the gang to just hang out. Then when we heard a pub goer (Andrew) had a new digg, we decided to come on over and check it out. Loiter on top of the tables so to speak. Let us know if we start scaring the customers :)

Bing isntalled the shakers by screwing them directly to the futon frame. They have a single layer of cork on the back and connected them to the LFE out of the Denon and sat back to give them a rumble..well I didn't like it at all they were ratteling around and I wasn't sure if it was the shakers distorting or then hitting the frame of the futon so I pulled them off and put some bubble wrap in between the shaker and the couch and screwed them back on. That really made a difference and they really work well now. If you are thinking about it I'd say grab a box and try them out for yourself. I got your message and I'll see what I can come up with today re the BingoSub.

Andrew,,my VCR is an RCA HI-FI 4 head HomeTheater version..I can't remember the model# off hand. It is DSS compatable meaning it can be programmed to tape off of DSS be sending a signal to the DSS receiver to turn it on and switch channels if necessary.

Funny how I am using Jay's CCF for the DSS and when I use the power button to turn it off,,instead the power on the Tosh RPTV goes off..Just found this out last night.

Hey Joey, That Rock Wall in Kooteny was the toughest hike I ever encountered. it was a constant roller coaster ride of Up the mountain pass, down the mountain pass, climb forever to get to a hanging vally in the distance, only to realize you must go all the way down again and climb back up to get to it. I kept staring at the tops of my boots as I trudged along.

It was worth it though, for those type of vistas can only be seen and enjoyed by venturing into the back country.

If you want to go, I'm game....

We are planing a trip to Mount Robson, it is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies at 3,954 meters (12,972 ft). Have a look... That is the Hargreves Glacier feeding into Berg Lake, the picture does not do it justice.

What the heck has happened to everybody???? TTP VII is toast, though the VI is there. Ron wants everyone to stop erronious numbers padding it that area. Does he mean the TTP threads as well?

Seems the server problems of THF has taken the wind out of our sails, even though this thread is alive.

I hope they will allow us to continue with the TTP structure over at the HTF..Ron was concerned about padding post counts and I realize that there were about 7 other threads started where guys were purposely doing this. Especially when one person runs up 100 posts in one thread in one day. The TTP was not for this. We had good discussions and conversations,,to me this was not an area by no means to pad up post counts. It was a simple chat room that grew a bunch of us guys closer together.
Long live TTP..

Hey Jehan, I must agree... It just feels convoluted over in the after hours section. It shouldn't matter, but is as you say, different now.

I even wandered into the test area and seen Greg L, had a test going, we sort of posted some stuff, but it was turfed rather quickly.

Bing

Trevor Schell
08-27-2000, 11:16 PM
Hey guys,,I agree with Jehan that the HTF TTP is not the same anymore. Over in the testing area it was somewhat hidden. Sort of a secret place with not to much traffic. In the After Hours lounge you get the feeling everybody on the Forum is reading it. It just doesn't seem to have the privicy feeling that it did in the testing area.Plus it seems to get lost in with all of the other threads in the After Hours section.

I haven't posted on Chapter 7 since I started it in the Testing Area and was moved to the After Hours area. One of the reasons I haven't posted was I felt Ron was somewhat frowning on the whole idea of the TTP structure. He did let it continue and maybe because it had been going on for so long already, but his final comments in his warning thread somewhat indicated that we were not considered to be valued Forum participants on the forum since the TTP was allowing us to inflate our post counts. Members with over 1000 posts were looked at as valued participants, but what was he to think when someone has over 1000 posts and grew that amount posting nonsense on a thread in the Test area..?? To bad he had to think this way.

Anyways,,I was thinking that this area here would be a great place to continue the TTP,and close it down at the HTF..That is of course if its OK with Andrew and Lexman.

What would be everyones thoughts on this??.

Trevor, I agree wholeheartedly...now that TTP has been moved to After Hours it is not the same.

I like the idea of keeping it here.

I kept on checking on it over here and it wasn't moving and it wasn't moving so I guess I kinda gave it the jumpstart that it needed to get going again:B

Bing, after seeing Joey's new mains and center, then Thomas posting his new project...I sure am getting the itch to make some sawdust fly. Might have to talk to Thomas and Jon a little to see if they can take me under their wing. New mains, matching center and surrounds...don't know if the electronics will support a big jump up in speaker quaility.

Guys, I'm in total agreement with Trevors post at the bottom of page 4. I too did not like the way Ron seemed to accuse us of padding our post count in an area that did not matter. I also do not like the After Hours section as much since it seems like it is being read by a lot more people, which is one reason my posts on HTF have gone way down. Just doesn't feel the same. I'm all for moving the TTP here and closing Chapter VII.

Bill,

I built some kit speakers from Madisound. These are called Gemini's with the Esotec drivers, for there size these are some of the best bookshelf speakers I've ever listened too.

Hey, I found the TTP again! :) Thanks J6P for emailing me the new URL! :)

I got my new PC up and running last night. It's real nice so far. I got my RoadRunner up and running on it, and since all resuscitation attempts on my old PC failed, I ended up transplanting my tape backup drive into the new PC and restoring from my last backup (which, as luck would have it, was the last thing I did on the old PC before I shut it down and it wouldn't boot ever again ;))

I can even watch DVDs on my computer at home now! I guess next time the wifey wants to watch a chick flick I can send her into the computer room while I watch The Matrix on the HT! :D (More likely, she'd send ME into the computer room with the Matrix DVD).

Ok, my 2 cents...
I definitely agree with Greg, in that the main reason I was on the HTF was because of the many friends I've met there, especially everyone involved with the TTP.
It sucks that Ron is the way he is with some of his rules. But as was explained to me, it's just a business, and it's his ticket to get to hook up with everyone in the industry. I wish he were more "people oriented" than "goal oriented", but that's what happens when a forum grows to be that size. I guess the individuals aren't as important anymore to them. End rant...
I am definitely going to be on the HT Guide from now on, and I hope that as many people from the TTP as possible do the same, so that we can all keep this thing going :) This is definitely the forum for it, as it's starting somewhat small, and people will recognize you for who you are, rather than as "a member".
I'm just bummed that the TTP got moved in the first place. When I posted on the TTP in the testing section I felt as though I were talking to you guys, but when it went to the after hours section it was more like I was "just posting". I hope that we can get that original feel back here, as we've found a small number of people who really get along, and have grown some great friendships from that.
For those interested, here's my first legit post on this forum, though I think everyone's seen it by now:

Good Morning!

Here is some details!

Madisound (http://www.madisound.com/entrance.html)

The Gemini kit is an MTM design using the new Esotec drivers in a 1/5 cubic foot vented design. The cabinet is 18 1/2" tall, 7 3/4" wide and 11" deep and contains two Esotec 15W75 woofers and a Esotec D260 tweeter mounted in between. This Gemini has a huge sound stage for a speaker of this size, providing deep and accurate bass to 50Hz. The impedance is 4 ohms and the efficiency is 91dB. The crossovers are 6dB with phase compensation. Cabinets are available in a clear Oak finish or black stained Oak finish with a black grill.

These kits took about 5.5 to 6 hrs to build (3speakers). They come with pre finished cabinets of your choice. Since they are MTM style the third speaker can be used with great results for a center. My plan is to move them to the rear and build there Myrage kit for Left/right fronts.

The break in period was about 50 hrs before the sound was what I was expecting.

Bing, I hate to say it, but the only name for your DIY subwoofer has to be: SubBing! Hey, it's also a gerund! Haha!

RickS, you need to post that stuff in the Mission Possible DIY section, I'm sure others will be interested. They looks really nice.

J6P, don't be so harsh on Ron, he's got a tough job over there, it's a big responsibility to keep their vision on track. I don't begrudge him one bit. Granted I don't live for the adulation of studios on software product. :D

I'm thinking about getting materials for my Sunosub II ready, maybe get the MDF, create the endcaps for the Labor Day weekend. I've just about firmed up the design (waiting for the final final dumax'd specs for the Tempest) before I start cutting up ports, etc.).

Finally got over the cold (I'm amazed it only took about 5 days, usually it takes about 2 weeks for me). Must have been some 120 hour bug. :D

Pat,

It's sort of like guiding it down the track since the front skis don't touch down for the complete run. On the back of the tunnel we have some foot pegs that you press your feet on, then pull the trigger. The ride is more of a balancing act since the steering on this type of sled is useless.

Joey - good luck! First few nights are rough, and then you will actually get into a groove, just like anything else, do it enough and it becomes secondhand. I went to a lot of evening college so I speak from experience. It is different when you already have a career path and know what you want to do with yourself, so my advice is to hang loose for a couple weeks and it will be smooth sailing after that.

RickS - holy moly, I thought pocket rocket motorcycles like a Ninja were dangerous! You definitely take the need for speed to a new level! Although I hate to admit it, I would be like what Pat said, laying there on my rear watching it cross the finish line without me on it!

August 29th finally got here! My T2 sure looks sweet, just have to get the little ones in bed and away I go!

Hey Guys!!, Glad to see everyone found the new hiding grounds. I think this will be an excellent location for the TTP. We really have to thank Parker for letting us continue the TTP at the HTF. It took me a couple of E-mails to convince him to close the TTP thread there. He really wanted us to continue it over at HTF. As Joey said though, there was to much of an audience. It was like talking to a large part of the forum and not just a group of guys who have developed some friendships. We can hide here and give the new Moderator a hard time and Gum his Remote Area big time. Right Andrew :D.

Hey Rick, Nice to see those pics of your speakers and subs. SVS offered me a great deal and package program that I may take advantage of in the new year. We will see... I always say I am going to wait on it, then all of a sudden next weekend I am out upgrading. Now I am considering a front projector since I will soon be rearranging my room set-up and giving the room a 90 degree twist increasing the length by double.

Joey, I checked your pictures and your new speakers definately look very cool, they must blow away the Infinity's to oblivian. Glad to see you got some new stuff.

Ooo! Pedro Martinez just missed a no-hitter. He gave up a single to the 1st batter in the 9th inning. He had started the game by hitting Gerald Williams who then charged the mound, and the benches cleared. After that, Pedro sat down 24 batters in a row before giving up that single in the 9th inning. He finished up with a 1-hitter and the shutout. Wow!

Just some more incoherent rambling by the guy who (co-)invented the term "incoherent rambling"... :)

Of the Aug. 29th releases I ordered (T2, Braveheart, and The Sound Of Music), only Braveheart has made it to my house yet. T2 shipped the other day--maybe I'll get it today. I just got the email confirming the shipment of The Sound of Music this morning, so it'll be really late. ;)

Joey, you'll have a great time at college. Sure, there's the initial break in period that can be a bit tough, but it gets better. Of course, when I think of my college days (actually a 2 year technical institute), the two things I think of are those great 80s tunes I listened to back then (and still do now!), and a brunette in my accounting class--another incoherent rambling story for a future TTP post. :)

My new PC is now fully functional, the software I use frequently is installed and running. I had a strange problem installing Office 97, particularly Access, which kept complaining that it didn't have a license on the machine. After looking up the problem on Mickeysoft's web site, the solution was to rename a particular font file, reinstall Access, and rename it back. I can't imagine how the existence of a font would hose the installation of Access, but then that's Mickeysoft for ya... :) And with Access, I was getting erratic response from the mouse scroll wheel, and I couldn't seem to find a good Intellimouse driver that was confirmed compatible with Windows ME. But it's working for the most part right now, and it's so much faster than the old heap I was using before. Now I just have to install Seti@Home on it! :)

I've already got the cash thanks to paypal:) Now I've also found a sweet deal on a pair of the mini Maggies for the same price I sold the C-'2 for so all I'm going to be out is the cost of shipping the C-2's and stands which will be $100 or so I guess which won't be to bad considering the upgrade I'm doing. Also put in an order for a new set of speaker cables to go with the new speakers...11 gauge IXOS gamma weave (braided) cables. So in the next couple of weeks I should be getting my new sub working, new speaker cables, new speakers, the 80's collection and hell maybe I'll though in a copy of T2 for kicks:)

Trevor I sold the "old" Sonosub to Jeremy Santos. I brought it over one saturday to see how it performed in his basement against his two Energy ex:L12's and it kicked their butts royally so he of course wanted to buy it. I wasn't really thinking of selling it but since he offered it got me thinking...then they announced the 15" shiva and I got excited but then heard it wasn't going to be released for several months so I got the Parts Express version instead (slightly less Xmax but also made by eminance like the shiva)

Good morning everbody, Not a very nice day here in western Canada, cloudy and 44F. A good day to watch movies I guess.

Since we could not find T2 here yesterday. I 'rented' Magnolia. I didn't think much of it and figured I could have done something better for those three hours. It seemed interesting enough for us not to turn it off before it was over, but once it was done I didn't see what the purpose of this movie was.. Waste of time for me. Anybody else see it? Thoughts??

Andrew, Just letting you know that I listed the H/K 5800 for sale, will use the money towards a bigger power amp. Do you know of anybody who might be interested in it?? I listed it at the HTF, but nobody has responded to the thread.

Have a great day everybody.

Paypal is great since its quick and you get the cash without haveing to worry about money orders and mailing them etc. Unfortunatly at this time PayPal isn't available for us canucks so you have to rely of a trusted friend or relative in the US to act as a go between.

Bing, a gerund is a noun made from putting "ing" at the end of a verb.

For example: Music listening is a favorite pasttime of mine. Listening is a gerund. So with "Sub-Bing" was just making a joke of the name being a gerund. "This is my Sub-Bing!" Say it out loud with me: "This is my Sub-Bing!" See? Doesn't that sound cool to tell people when they gawk and point at your new subwoofer? You've just increased the A/V vocabulary by one more term with your subwoofer. :D

I *still* don't have a Pronto, and what's worse, I think I accidentally deleted my Pronto config :( I gotta look around for it.
Oh, this story cheered me up:
There's this new lady at work, her name is Cindy I think, and though she's a little older, she's a very attractive lady. Anyhow, one of my testers, Chris, has noticed her as well.
We were up at the new building (we're moving tonight to our new lab) walking around and she was wearing a very "revealing" dress, and she has the body to back it up. Chris turned his head, saw her, and kept staring. He turned his head to say something and *WHAM* went head on, full speed, into a big metal pole. The sound went *CLANK* and it rang out, and even echoed if that wasn't bad enough, and Chris was floored instantly. We tried to help him but we were laughing too hard, and she noticed it so it made it even funnier. He's NEVER going to live that one down...that's for damn sure! Gotta run for now...

Morning everybody, still recovering from getting sick over the weekend. Took yesterday off and made it in today. Of course a ton of stuff happened. :(

Trev & all Canadians: T2 is basically delayed for Canadian release. Not enough of the DVD-18's were made, so we get screwed. There's been a bunch of talk about this on the software side on HTF.

Joey: Can't wait to hear your school stories. Oh yeah, have to order pizza to the class. :) I've always wanted to do that. ;)

I've archived TTP 3-VII, but the service that I'm using, i-drive, isn't letting guests see the threads. I'll let you all know when it comes back on-line. In fact, I can't even get into it right now! grrr!

Ok Joey, get yourself one of them those Prontos, then you'll be posting "in the right forum" ;) I thought I had mine all set up nice and neat, only to discover that I really arfed up when I did the macros for watching (ugh) VHS and camcorder tapes, so I have to redo those. Of course, as a true HTer, my DVD macros work great! :)

Actually, I have a question for the Pronto geeks around here. A friend of mine is designing a HT for another friend, who's going to get the Marantz RC5000 or whatever it is, the Marantz version of the Pronto, and he wants me to build a CCF for this guy. My question is, will the Philips version of ProntoEdit (1.05) which I'm using for my Pronto be able to create CCFs and download them to a RC5000? Or will I have to download the Marantz RC5000-edit? :)

Back to useless TTP banter... I love that story Joey! Very funny. Keep 'em coming! :)

Now all I need is some woofage... "If I only had a sub..." :)

Pl@, Boy do I feel sheepish, (bah-ha-ah-ha) Just as I was reading your explaination, an image of my 4th grade teacher popped into my head explaining gerund's. " My Ma never raise no idiot, I done did rasied myelf "

Paul good to hear you are feeling better, thanks for the explaination of T2, I was bummed when I went to Futire shop yesterday and never saw it. I picked up BraveHeart and Sound of Music anyway. I was going to get Magnolia for I think that is one nice box, good thing I didn't considering Trev's reaction :)

Rick: Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit, Doit!

Kev, nothing like a nice New PC! Seems everyone at work is buying now, I attribute it to major promotion of flyers that get people thinking they should by.

Joey: Too Funny :L That is classic, what makes it better is he was floored (hopefully not hurt too bad) and she noticed as well. LOL

Andrew: Atta Boy! Way to do it! Those maggie will be nice, I have always loved esoteric speakers like electrostats, and Maggies. So your old Sono punted 2 e:xL-12's aye? That is good to hear for I have just 1 e:xL-12. Now if I can only tear myself away from this dang Pronto Edit :W and continue on with the Sub-Bing

Bing, your sub's name has to be:

*drum roll*

Ba-Da-Bing! Ba-Da-Boom!

I don't even know how I managed to pre-order Magnolia (I'm pretty sure I got for $10 ppd), but I did. I saw this film in the theaters. PT Anderson is a love-it/leave-it director. You either love his stuff, or you don't. Trev didn't.
But Bing, I wouldn't say it was a total waste, but you have to focus on the performances of the film, and slough off some of the superfluous vignette. PT Anderson has yet to figure out how to edit down his movies to a length with better flow to them.

The screen is stretched on my monitor also. This usually happens when somebody posts a picture or long link to a website. Maybe its the widescreen version of TTP..I know Andrew can probably fix it unless we really have done some damage to Andrews area. Sometimes I can't get this area to load up,,just get a blank screen and have to hit reload a couple of times.

I haven't seen Dan,Greg or Chris around..I wonder if they know of the change that was made?

Greg,
Yup, finished all my homework dad, can I watch a movie now? ;)
(jk)

Hmmm, now my name means two things:
J6P = bungling something up...
Joey Level = WAY too freaking loud ;)

When oh when can my name mean something positive? ;)

I'm happy to report that after two rough days of school, being rejected by "the other kids at school", and just really not having as much fun as I was hoping, I finally had a good night. Not a great one mind you, but an improvement.
For starters 1/3 of the math class (my math professor would be proud, using fractions like that when referring to math, heh) is GONE. They all dropped the class. We went from a large group to a semi-large group. And the only 3 people that would talk to me are still there, and we've turned into quite the number crunching little group. They're really patient with me, and vice cersa, as each of us have our own weaknesses. But we kind of compliment each other. And they can respect the fact that I'm a high school dropout and haven't stepped foot in a classroom in over 9 years.
So to all of those people who scoffed when my name was mentioned and never said I'd amount to anything..."Piss off!!!" I'm a college student now, and can afford to pay for it all without financial aid, and have a management type position at a job in the computer industry. I wish that teacher who once told me, in front of the class no less, "Repeat after me, 'Would you like fries with that?' See? That's all the training you're ever going to need..." could see me now. I'd make him eat his words. I think I turned out somewhat okay...
Anyhow, that was math class tonight. English is tomorrow night, and we had to write a paper yesterday. That paper we wrote determines whether or not we get to stay in that advanced english class, or get droppe down. Here's to hoping she tells me good things tomorrow and allows me to stay in her class...

J6P

PS, TTP's 80's Collection ships TOMORROW!!!
Pl@, do you think $20 is cool for the shipping for the discs and speakers?

Jehan
08-31-2000, 02:56 AM
Joey: I'm sure you will make it, just put some time into it and skip the movie for now :). I know it's a little hard at the start but I think you will like college as time goes on. Hell I've been in school/college pretty much my whole life and I like the lifestyle, thus I'm keeping myself from a job in the valley a little while longer (oh the $$ look good though). The story about the guy running into a pole was a good one indeed, we all shared a good laugh today at work while I retold the story :).

P@: so what are the movie choices for this weekend? I still haven't seen the Cell and will probably try and check it out. Offerings for this week seem thin; Highlander:Endgame (which doesn't seem to have a positive buzz at all) and everyone's favourite, Amanda Peet in Whipped :).

So where is Chris? maybe preparing for classes.. I know I am, though I am not teaching this quarter still lots of work needs to be done for the big Fall session.

Pronto: well I think I'll stop looking at any sentance which has the word Pronto in it, because this merely adds more things to my wishlist - which has gotten out of control already.

I think the thread is back to it's old self if not better here.. all going smoothly.
Ok long enough post.. off for now.

Might be here late, where is the late night crew these days? Paul? Pat? Joey - I'll excuse you since you're doin the college thing these days.. how goes the Diablo? heh :)

Greg Stone
08-31-2000, 06:21 AM
Joey - See what a little perseverance will do? I used to laugh at how many people drop classes the first week or two. It seems some people sign up, go to the first class, and if the teacher seems easy, they decide to stay. Or if the teacher seems hard, they drop. There is no shortcut or easy way in college, it's just a matter of giving it your best each day.

And yes, since your homework is done, you may watch a movie now! ;)

And to the teacher who said to you "Do you want fries with that? That's all the training you will need." Shows how much he actually knows about what people will turn out like. I would never have guessed you dropped out, and now you are doing great. He'll probably turn into a bitter old man with no students who remember him in a positive way, which will be reward enough for him. After all, if you spend your entire life teaching and fail to positively affect your students, you are in the wrong profession, which that jerk obviously is.

There was a "pole ringer" in my accounting class my second year at college. She didn't make me run into any poles, but she seriously scrambled the circuits in my brain. It's a story for another post. :)

Jehan, I think Whipped is the movie of the week (even if it's lame, I still like staring at Amanda Peet). I can't really get too excited about Highlander Endgame (smell of moldy cheese). I've been ignoring that Braveheart thread because I've never seen the movie (gasp!) and I haven't recieved my DVD yet from BestBuy.com, so until I get it, and watch it, I won't read that juicy thread. Oh well.

GregS, I was very impressed with the dts audio track of T2:UE as well. I didn't even have the audio up too high since I was watching it after 10 p.m. and I try to be a good neighbor, but I still had to lower the volume, and finally I gave up and stopped watching 90 minutes into the movie (right before the gang shows up at Miles B. Tyson's house to do some butt-whuppin') I will finish watching it tonight at a louder level (and I'm actually afraid for my Sunosub). :D

J6P, that sounds fine, I'll get some moola in the mail tomorrow (don't have my check book with me today). You seem to be a real social animal when it comes to school. I just showed up for class, listened, took some notes, and came back and took the tests. :D I never really cared one way or another if my classmates liked me or not. But I'm happy you are getting more comfortable in your new surroundings. I think it takes more gumption to go back to school after working in the real world than to just plow through school right after high school.

Hi DanB! Hi GreggL! Glad you both made it here.

Heellloooo.....

Joey: Loved the pole story. Classes..well it should be like that for the first week, add/drop forms are the most sought after forms. Plus you tend to get a bunch of drop ins as well. I'd be pretty impressed if you were in my class. I can just see those conversations,
Classmate1, "So what'd you do over the summer?"
Classmate2, "Oh I worked the summer at Circuit City, they got real cool stuff there, something called dvd. Except I hate those black bars."
Classmate1, "I worked at my dad's office. I was in the mail room most of the day, but the pay was pretty good"
Joey, "Oh, I managed a team that worked on testing and verifying software that ships with cd burners, I also built my own speakers and have a side business doing web pages"
Classmate1 and 2 jaws drop to the floor. :)

Jehan: I'm getting over a cold so I'm getting some sleep. You still have to tell us about your wonderful vacation.

Greg: That bit of truth about teachers reminds me of the scene in "The Breakfast Club."

Hi Dan, glad to see you made it over.

Hi Gregg L, glad to see you made it over. dejavu? Party at Gregg's house! So how do you cook your lobster? Place in pot of water, put next to sub, watch T2, eat lobster.

Kevin: You will have to tell us about the cutie in accounting class. In fact there was cutie in my accounting class as well, and in my intro to business, and in my finance class.

Trev, the only place I know that would sell FP's in town would be the commercial sites like Inland Audio & Video, or Sharp's Audio & Video. They may not be set up to display an optimized HT set up as they are mainly set up for rental and distributing.

We have just purchased 2 new LCD projectors at work. One is a Sony for the main conference room that I do not know alot about, the other is a Sharp-PGC30XU that my office mate bought for our conference room. The image of the Sharp looks very nice and a quick look at the specs shows it is capaitable of most HD resolutions, 480p, 720p and 1080i. While not really a HT projector, it would give you some idea if you were considering an LCD or CRT.

Two guys from Saskatchewan die and wake up in Hell.

The next day the Devil stops in to check on them and sees them dressed in parkas, mitts,
and toques warming themselves by the fire.

The Devil asks them "What
are you doing? Isn't it hot enough in here for you?"

The two guys reply "Well, ya know, we're from Saskatchewan, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy for a chance to warm up a little bit,ya
know."

The Devil decides that these two aren't miserable enough and turns up the heat. The next morning he stops in again, and there they are, still dressed in parkas, mitts, and toques.

The Devil asks them again " It's awfully hot down here...can't you guys feel that?"

Again the two guys reply " Well, like we told you yesterday, we're from Saskatchewan, the land of snow and ice and cold. We're just happy
for a chance to warm up a little bit, ya know."
The Devil is
absolutely furious, he can hardly see straight! Finally he comes up with the answer. The two guys love the heat because they have been cold all their lives. The Devil decides to turn all the heat off in Hell!

The next morning the temperature is below zero, icicles are hanging everywhere, people are shivering so bad that they are unable to wail,
moan, and gnash their teeth!

The Devil smiles and heads for the room with the two Saskatchewanites. He gets there and finds them back in their parkas, mitts and toques. They are jumping up and down, cheering, yelling and screaming like mad men. The Devil is dumbfounded!
"I don't understand! When I turn up the heat, you're happy. Now it's freezing cold and you're still happy? What is wrong with you two?"

The two Saskatchewanites look at the Devil in surprise.. "Well, don't ya know?! If Hell froze over, then that must mean the Roughriders won
the Grey Cup!!"

Chris: 0

I thought that was freaking hilarious! I'll see if I can get a digital camera unpacked to get a picture of it before someone takes it down ;) (we're switching buildings at work, and I get my own cubicle now, so it's been hectic)

Joey, that's funny! Too bad you didn't have a webcam going when the pole incident occurred! It would have made a great clip for America's Funniest Home Videos! :)

I have another story. I got a letter today from the Somersworth Police Dept. I'm thinking, why would I be getting a letter from them? I don't even know where the heck Somersworth is. So I open it up, and it tells me that I had gotten a parking ticket in Somersworth but haven't paid the fine, so now it's up to $20 and if I don't pay it in 10 days they can take me to court, etc. etc.

But... I wasn't in Somersworth on the day the ticket was issued! In fact, I've never been in Somersworth in my entire life. I had to look it up on the internet just to find out where it was located (on the Maine/NH border). Apparently, the drone writing the ticket wrote the wrong plate number on it, and of course, they picked MY plate number, so when the recipient conveniently decided not to pay the ticket, I'm the one who gets in trouble for it. So, I'm going to have to give them a call tomorrow and explain a few things. Heck, they went to the trouble to look up my plate number to get my address, but they didn't think to compare the make/model of the car on the ticket against the registration?? Chances are it wouldn't have matched. Of course, I don't have the ticket itself, since it wasn't my car that the ticket was actually issued for.

It just continues to prove the theory that the two most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

Well, I feel a little better now having written this. This is my first time posting a message from my new computer at home, I'm getting used to the feel of the new keyboard.

My wife thought the pole story was funny!

See ya guys... KJP

Ok Bing, here you go...

Can these be answered?

If you throw a cat out of the car window, does it become kitty litter?

If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn?

Is it OK to use the AM radio after noon?

What do chickens think we taste like?

What do people in China call their good plates?

What do you call a male ladybug?

What hair color do they put on the driver's license of a bald man?

When dog food is new and improved tasting, who tests it?

Why didn't Noah swat those two mosquitoes?

Why doesn't glue stick to the inside of the bottle?

Why isn't phonetic spelled the way it sounds?

Why are there Interstates in Hawaii?

Why are there flotation devices in the seats of planes instead of parachutes?

Why are cigarettes sold at gas stations where smoking is prohibited?

Have you ever imagined a world without hypothetical situations?

How does the guy who drives the snowplow get to work?

If the 7-11 is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, why does it have locks on the door?

Why is a bra singular and panties plural?

If a firefighter fights fire and a crime fighter fights crime, what does a freedom fighter fight?

If a cow laughs, does milk come out of her nose?

If you are driving at the speed of light and you turn your headlights on, what happens?

Why do they put Braille dots on the keypad of a drive-up ATM?

Why is it that when you transport something by car it is called shipment, but
when you transport something by ship it's called cargo?

What would Geronimo say if he jumped out of an airplane?

Why are they called apartments when they are all stuck together?

If flying is so safe, why do they call the airport the terminal?

I finally watched T2:UE (the director's extended cut in glorious dts) and its supplement, though I did not read the screenplay or go through but 20% of the short snippets of video with the people behind the scenes. This really does define the term: Ultimate Edition!

Bing,,That was hilarious!!

Here's another one:

A San Diego patrolman pulled over a driver and informed him that because
he was wearing his seatbelt, he had just won $5000 in a safety
competition.
"What are you going to do with the prize money?" the officer asked. The
man responded, "I guess I'll go to driving school and get my licence."
At that moment, his wife, who was seated next to him, chimed in,
"Officer, don't listen to him. He's a smart aleck when he's drunk."
This woke up the guy in the back seat, who, when he saw the cop, blurted
out, "I knew we wouldn't get far in this stolen car." At that moment,
there was a knock from the trunk, and a voice asked, "Are we over the
border yet?".

Goodnight everybody!!

Greg: love the meters, real eye candy yet calming and soothing..

Heey check'it out, new Status!!

Pat, very good! I liked the one about the mosquitoes LOL

J6P: Most Awesome Dude! This is going to be great! Good humor on the sign, wish I was as witty as that.

Well I may have my Pronto CCF in a first edition now. I have sorted out most everything and I have to say this is one slick unit. I can't beleive the power of this thing, the only thing this is missing is an IR popcorn maker to control during a macro routine.

Well it's late and I must be off to bed, G'night all!

Well UPS stopped by last night with my sub driver:) I only had time to install it in the tube then we had to go out and didn't get back until late. So this morning at 7 AM I tried playing a very quick and low volume test with a musical track (Chantal Kreviazuk's Leaving on a Jet plane) this track has some awesome bass and it was easy to cue up in the CD changer. First impressions are this think is going to R O C K. Even at -30 on the denon's display (remember its 7 AM) it was sending out really strong bass that was easily shaking the concrete floor:) We're leaving right after work to go camping for the entire long weekend so I'm not going to get chance to listen to The Haunting in DTS for several days but I can't wait...oh and my maggies should be on thier way now...every feel like a kid at christmas when new toys are coming?

Update on the parking ticket story: it's resolved now. I talked to the PEO at Somersworth PD (a very polite lady BTW), she pulled the original ticket, and noticed one small anomaly. The ticket had Massachusetts written for the state of the plate, then it was crossed out and NH written in. She pulled the registration for the MA plate with the same number, and guess what... it is also a silver 4-door Saturn. So, in both NH and MA, there are silver 4-door Saturns with the same plate number. Creepy, huh???
