New Yamaha Universal Player - WOW

Yamaha is replacing their 2300MKII with the new 2500.

    Here is what we get:

    MSRP is $749 ( So I read)
Streets: February (knowing Yamaha this will not be on time but who knows?)
    Dvd-A, SACD
    I-LINK/Firewire
Video Circuitry off mode for Dvd-A/SACD/Redbook
    HDMI output with 720p/1080i scaling
    Faroudja DCDI

So basically it looks like a Denon 3910 killer at what they are offering. HRMMMMMMM.

Looking good :T I've always liked Yamaha's players and would have bought a 2300 if they had been more affordable at the time :yesnod: Can't wait to read the innevitable comparisons and reviews with the Denons

If their delivery time is anything like the S1500 (did that one Ever get released?) I'd say forget it and find something else.

Looks good from the spec's. Wonder what it'll sound like?

I wish Yamaha would stay with a consistent styling.

Good lord. First the 3910 now this...what is it with these manufacturers and those butt ugly display panels? Maybe it's just me, but that vintage 80s look is rather dated...I do prefer my equipment to have nice sleek lines and be nice to look at.

I'm now hearing November release date with an MSRP of $699!!!!!!

It's based on the Phillips which was highly acclaimed for its SACD sound. Adjustable crossover and all.

I agree, the front appearance is not all that great. But if the latest rumors are true, this may be one for our house!

Tell me you're joking! 8O I promised myself I wouldn't buy another player until Bluray/HD DVD! That Yammie's sure looking tempting though... Between this and the new Denon's it's getting hard to resist

I'm still using my CDX-1100U and it sounds as good today as 1988.
