Looks like it might WEIGH 3,999 pounds. :&gt

    David -

You'd take that over your Yamaha RX-V1? The Yamaha that you lusted after for so long before you upgraded to IT?

OK, we already know the answer to that. Santa had better have some DEEP pockets this year. :>)

Hey, this is a 2-channel set-up. My beloved RX-V1 will still be my 9-channel (okay 8.1) sweetie. :B

Deep pockets? Heh, Santa better have a friggin' bank vault somewhere. Oh, I have to say that Musical Fidelity is feeling rather good about this integrated. This is on their web-site:

It's really simple the kW 500 is virtually indistinguishable from our monster-killer kW monoblocs. The kW 500 is one of the best five amplifiers in the world regardless of price.
That puts it in some serious company. Boulder and Levinson come quickly to mind. I wonder if it really could be that good?

It's mighty purty, David. But, a $7,000 integrated amplifier? :E

Of course, the first thing that pops into my mind to compete with it DOESN'T have a phono preamp, so it wouldn't be in the same league...

Only 8 output devices per channel? For 500W at 8 ohms, and 770 watts at 4 ohms?

It's so hard sometimes to put "midrange" equipment into perspective...

I mean, midrange in the sense of stuff like a Krell or Edge monoblock, or Theta Dreadnaught as being "high end". Of course, with their statement about it being one of the 5 best amplifiers in the world, they must not look at it as "midrange", regardless of the price point.

$7K is pretty reasonable, really, though not an "impulse" purchase- it would require "warp drive" for my bank account! Cheap compared with a big Theta Digital or even Ayre V1x.

If/when you get one, David, I'll offer to steal ThomasW's K5X and bring a pair of my Palladiums (probably NOT one of the world's best five amplifiers), and we can have a friendly little shoot out.. that's a normal kind of Old West thing to do, right? Heck, I'll even bring my DAC1, just to make things interesting and make up for the lack of a phono preamp.

                Shore is purty, though.... :B

Draw, pardner! You're on. Although, to sell Jen on a $7K audio purchase right now, I'd have to be P. T. Barnum. Think about it tho' - that pricing is Halo JC-1 (x2) and Pass Lab's X250 range. Two more serious competitors that are amps only.

All this hysteria is basically 'cause I first heard my Aerials powered by a MF Tri-Vista integrated and that just floored me.

Maybe we should plan on meeting at Thomas' as it's sorta the half-way point. . . can he cook? :B

                        David --

If that's 3200 CAD, (in the ad Andrew linked to), then it would be about a buck fifty USD, :>) so you might as well buy it and be happy! :>)
