    Presenting Cedar Creek Cinema...

    It's complete....

    I gotta say it: YAAAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

A little over 2 months and Cedar Creek Cinema is done.

It was fun and the audio and video results are awesome... better than I could have imagined. I am truly blown away by the image of our PJ.

Anyway... the camera we have is a cheapo and doesn't do very well in a dark room which has prompted me to search for a better digital camera. None the less, I did the best I could with the pics for now. I'll replace later. Just keep in mind that what you see is not exactly what you get... IMO what I see is better than the pics.

I'll post a few pics here but to see the entire selection click on my signature link and visit our revamped HT pages.

    And a few screen shots:

So... there you have it. FWIW, I've been (and family and/or others) in the HT room almost every night for the last week or so.

A special THANK YOU! to all who participated in my construction thread. It was a long drawn out thread and I truly appreciate the inspiration and shared knowledge from those that helped.

 Very cool, Sonnie. I'm especially impressed with your speed. for many reasons, I'm taking it super slow and being extra thorough, doing all the work on my theater myself and dragging it out. But you put even the quickest theater builders that I've seen to shame. Well done, good sir!

            Thank you kindly gents!

Yeah... Angibug slipped that Garth plaque in there on me. I just haven't taken the time to hang it yet. What laziness! lol I could have at least hung it before I snapped the shots but I had just finished the last coat of paint on the baseboard and screwing into sheetrock always produces the dust on the baseboard. The dust and paint might not mix too well.

We're gonna hang a few pics and I'm gonna get me-self a good ole sho-nuff digital camera for some better pics too.

I tried hard to get Angibug to let us name it "THE HILLBILLY CINEMA" but she just wouldn't go for it.

Thank you Deacon, EJ, and Glen.

We've moved the Lazy-boys up on the riser and put the black chairs up front. Looks better to us for some reason. Made the bass a little too heavy for the riser area but I can work that out.

Andrew... I also got that Garth Brooks plaque hung.

Sonnie my son, what a great job you have done here. But one thing bothers me. You have the rack and equipment located just under your screen. Don't the LED displays distract the viewing, or do you have a way of shutting them off ?

                        Thank you Daddy-George!

I've read many times where people talk about lights (LED's, etc.) on their equipment distracting them but as long as they are stationary I don't have a problem with them.

I have in my plans to eventually build cabinet doors over the DVD shelving and a tinted glass door over the equipment shelving but it's later on down the road.

Moving lights or reflections bother me though. I painted the silver threshold section that pertruded into the room with black paint because I kept being distracted by the reflection moving across it occasionally. Even though there's no light leaks at the bottom of the door I would think someone is about to enter the room every time I noticed the reflection.

                                UPDATE:

I can't say enough about how well we are enjoying Cedar Creek Cinema. We are simply amazed by the audio and video as well as anyone else that has visited us. I've never seen so many jaws drop... at first when they see the "you are there" image and second when they hear the system cranked up. Demo's turn into watching a movie or concert. Geeze what do you expect from us southern hillbilly's... we ain't used to this kinda stuff.

We've decided to swap out our three black glider recliners w/ ottaman for 3 more Lazy-boy recliners. 4-5 hours is too long for anyone over 175 pounds or so in the black chairs. It gets harder and harder to get comfy the longer we sit in them. I've even added 2 layers of foam underneath the existing seating foam but it hasn't completely solved the achy situations. On the other hand.... the Lazy-boys have been truly wondermous. So... 6 Lazy-boys it'll be. There on order as I already stripped my furniture man of his last three Taupe colored ones.

Other than the achy seating situations we've loved every minute and find ourselves watching HD and regular SD satellite channels in the room almost nightly. It's night and day difference between SD satellite on our 2HD vs. our Toshiba 65" RPTV. The PJ wins easily... we thought our Toshiba was fairly good until we viewed the PJ... we just didn't realize what we were missing.

Sonnie, I think you posted somewhere that now you need to watch each of your movies all over again.

I couldn't agree more. I think that's one of the best parts about getting a significant new piece of equipment. Or building a new room. When you're done with the setup, the whole theater experience is so much different for each piece of music and each movie, that it makes it fun to watch each one all over again and hear and see things you never did the first time.

It' like buying a whole new library of music and movies.

Yep... I did post that somewhere... hee hee ... not sure where but it is so true.

Even Angibug is finally gettin' in on the DVD ordering. We've got about 20 DVD's we both want ... even though many we have seen several times in the past via TV (HBO, SHO, PPV, etc.)

It definitely gives us a new outlook on movies.
