    Theater Phone

Hey gang...thought I'd share some pics of our theater phone that's in the E-Cinema:

And sorry...I don't remember where I got it either....I bought this over two years ago, before we even built our house...in anticipation of this very day! It's cool....it lights up when it rings so you don't miss a call! 8)

David: LOL, yep I'm braking the rules...but to be honest it's more for decor than for use. The phone works anywhere, but would 'look' out of place say in our family room! 8O

Andrew: Thanks...the theater itself does not have a phone oulet in it but my equipment area does...so I just ran the cord through the wall and placed the phone on the front stage.

Myself, I've got a phone that plays the James Bond theme when it rings. Really. It's a V-tech.

          Nice, yet gaughty phone E!

            Shame on you, E.

Honestly, I wouldn't even consider a phone in my HT. In fact, if I do hear the phone ringing upstairs during a movie, I ignore the phone entirely.

OTOH, Erik's theater phone is rather unique.

Gaughty is right Lex! But that's what makes if fun! It just kinda goes with my blue/red theme...and helped inspire my ideas!

George: The phone does have three settings/features were you can turn it off completely, just ring, or lights and ring...so I have the option not to be bothered either! But to be honest...nobody really calls us, :loser: , in fact it's never rang while watching a movie!

But can any of you order a pizza while watching a movie like I can! :P NOT using your cell or cordless?

Well, of course. Just flip up the lid on the laptop and order it via the 'net over the wireless card.

Uh, that would be if I had a completed HT room and a wireless Ethernet set-up.

That's interesting to me that some of us would never put a phone in a home theater. Me, I'm definitely planning on it. I feel it's necessary to complete the entire entertainment room. First, I need a phone jack for the satellite receiver to plug into, to buy Pay Per View movies, and maybe for the theater computer as well. But then if I'm relaxing at night, watching TV or a movie in the theater, and the phone rings, I don't want to have to run down the hall to try and grab it.

Especially as a military pilot, there's times where I can't just ignore phone calls.

One option I'm installing in the theater is a choice to turn on a Caller ID function to flash a signal on the screen with the calling phone number if the phone rings. I can keep the phone ringer itself off.

You can check one of the Caller ID boxes that can be added to any display:

                      CHRIS
Luke: "Hey, I'm not such a bad pilot myself, you know"
                      CHRIS

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

If I was a military pilot, I too would have a phone in my HT. Before I retired I had to be available around the clock, so it was necessary to take a cordless down to the Ht with me. Man I hated when it rang and I had to go to the plant because of some emergency, leaving a movie in the middle and all. But I don't have to do that now. During my working life I walked around with a telephone glued to my ear. I hate phones now, and since I no longer need to be on call, there is absolutely no telephone in my theater.

Now all you need is a little Godzilla figure to stand menacingly over it.
