    TOTALLY TERMINATED....

...is a good discription for our Terminator themed dedicated theater.

This has been quite some work in progress...but we are down to the nitty gritty. The Rotel RSP-1066 Digital Processor and RMB-1075 5ch. Amp was installed last week...a new Rotel 2ch. Amp and Rotel A/C Line Conditioner will be added next Weds. to complete the Cyberdyne 7.1 Power Center. Lastly a new SVS Subwoofer will assist the current Velodyne FR1200 Sub with the heavy duty LFE workloads! Then I believe I will finally call it a day and finally get to enjoy our cybernetic cinema!!!

To add a personal touch of customization, I had Don Holland of www.CustomHT.com design a special HT introduction DVD for our cinema. Don was creative in having a professional celebrity voice impersonator do an Arnold Schwarzenegger Terminator voice over on our DVD. I get a kick everytime I hear the "Terminator" announce...."WHELCUUM TO DUH MORTENSEN CYBUHDYNE CINEMUHHH...DUH SHOW STARTS IN TEN MEENUGHTS!"

Why so over the top with the Terminator? Well, actually if you look at the cinema it has resemblances to the old Sci-Fi movie sets of the 1950's. This was my inspiration for the HT. As a kid I always watched the old Sci-Fi movies like: The Thing From Another World, Forbidden Planet and The Day The Earth Stood Still. Looking back the sets were very campy, with flashy lights, oversized knobs, metal doors, etc...I thought it would be a unique twist to add some of these details to a dedicated theater room. Actually, while making the faux oversized Metal Rivets and Screw Heads...I sorta felt like I was designing a set from the old TV series "Land of The Giants!"

Darren- FANTASTIC theater, man. Kudos to you! Great visual items all around the theater. But the thing that I might like the most is your stage, made to look like a film reel. GREAT idea! Would you mind if I borrowed that idea for my theater and magazine articles? (with proper credit given if I do use it, of course)

What projector and screen are you using?

          Thanks, Chris!

          No problem...write and build away!

I use a Sony VPL-VW10HT LCD Projector with a 159" diag.Da-Lite Tab Tensioned Cosmoplitan Electrol High Contrast IR Remote Controlled Da- Mat Screen....(whew! Can I buy a vowel now?) That makes the actual viewing area about 7.5 feet tall and about 12 feet wide...that's what I call "Seeing the BIG picture!"

Oh, Darren, I almost forgot. Did I run into you on another forum and ask you this already? ... I have a good friend from Olathe named Dave Pittner who used to run with a guy named Darren. Long shot, but I thought I'd throw that out.

Yes, you asked me before at AVS. I think.

What age is Dave Pittner? I know quite a few Dave's and how long ago would it have been?

We were classmates together at the Air Force Academy, starting back in '93. If the name's not familiar, I don't think the coicidence is there.
