A Sneek Peak of what's to come...

I'm so pround of my wife that I just had to take the time to download and share these pics...MUCH more of an update is coming soon! But this should tide you over:

Here is my beautiful and pregnant bride hard at work!

    And after a few hours....

The curtains are up and closed

    Then opened

And then just a few more shots for fun

There's a little taste of the finished product...and soon I'll detail out how I got there!

Thanks guys on all the kind words...I still to this day wonder how I was able to bribe Nicole into being my bride! ;lx

Andrew: The ML's has a continuous "stator grill" that sandwiches the diaphragm or the electrostatic 1x4' panel, and this stator continues down and covers the woofer driver as well...so no little hands can get to it!

Here's a better pic that shows what I'm talking about:

Next I'm going to remove the oak rails and stain/paint them black so they match the decor a bit!

Thanks on the kitchen too....still not done doing a little 'detail' trim work and stuff in there...but getting close.

E! can't you just leave the oak sides off instead of painting them? I'd rather see you stain them if you have to instead of paint which IMO would lower their value a lot.

I was planning on using a stain...not paint...and the SL3's do come in a "black ash stain" version...which I would be changing mine too if I do...heck I may not even stain them...just thinking about it.

Thanks for the concern buddy...I contacted ML on this too...and it's been done...most often to bring rails back to or change their original finish. ML says many owners do this...and if done right doesn't hurt anything just changes there look.

And you can't leave the rails off...they actually help hold the stators in place and why you must lay the speakers on their back when removing the rails!

I just thought about staining them darker so they didn't stand out so much....but we'll see....

E, locked his pregnent :baby: wife in a room and said, don't come out until these curtains are finished. E, the nerve!

E, please don't touch those oak side rails, I'd leave them exactly as they are.

if you really want them black, get some black velvet, sew on the attachable part of velcro on the end, and stick the other side with adhesive back on the top and bottom edge and stretch it the lengh. That covers them, but leave's your beautiful oak rails untouched, well, except for the velcro.

That looks like a fixed screen, Eric. What make did you go with and what are the dimensions ?

George: Winner, it is a fixed screen: Da-Lite 92" (45"x80") High Contrast Cinema Vision Perm-Wall...it's Da-Lite's version of a gray screen ala Grayhawk from Stuart Filmscreens (1.1 gain).

Hey, not to be a party poop, but have you tested just how reflective the new curtains are going to be when showing a movie? That blue looks very shiny. . .

David: Quite poopin' man! :P Nah, they don't reflect one bit...in fact when the lights are off and the movie's going you only "slightly" see the swags directly above the screen, even then they don't "glare or reflect" anything...the two long blue velvet with red tassels on the sides are not even noticable...thanks for the concern. That would have really been terrible after all my wifes hard work! 8O It might just be the Flash that gives the appearance that they may reflect....mee thinks at least.
