The build quality of their gear is amazing, unfortunately so are the prices 8O

Yes - and they last for ever!

            Jariten,

I've used Accuphase in the past (my stereo days) on Maneplanar Typhani 1D flat panel speakers - that needed 200W to come alive and 500W to sing. The Accuphase I had was happy to oblige with the full 500W and laugh at the task....

Awesome build quality. Authoritative sound. At the time (older models) they (for my ears) lacked some refinement (more a muscle amp like Crown Amcron) so after a while I changed them...

Still - I've heard that Accuphase have gone more Audiophile in sound quality in the last few years. And I know people with 15 and 20 year old Accuphases that are still just fine - that "built like a tank" construction pays off...

            Enjoy your purchase...

            Geoff

              Bam!

Yes..I was hearing like an echo...
I guess Accuphase is not that known outside of Japan....

              ThomasW.

The price is high....unless you don't mind used gear that has been refurbished by the factory.
the 500L was listed at 630000 Yen (new)
              BUT...I paid 117000 for it.
it's in like new condition..even the wood panels on the side of the unit.
There are NO scratches on it..the glass in front of the meters has no scratches...the unit is in LIKE NEW condition..with 6months warranty....
I looked inside..and no dust whatsoever.....
              Ah well...

If there is gear that is sought by HTguide members..I can look around for it before I move out...

              Aussie Geoff
This unit dates to 1996 (according to the records of it)
Sound ...just amazing....I'm using my M&K L/R S150 THX with it..and a Denon DVD-5000 on the variable output....
              just amazing.....

Too bad..it's now packed to cross the Pacific Pond to our next dwelling place...

it just takes a little hunting and some Jap Audio magazine reading....
                      some amazing stuff out there..
                      and a great price...
Japanes egearheads have a LOT ..I mean a LOT of money...
they upgrade often..and sell off their equipment at a very low price...

Currently hunting for an accuphase DP-75V CD player....so far 2000$ is the lowest I have found....
still time to look ^^;; :B

                        Hi,

I've had a little look at Accuphase's web site. Their look and feel hasn't changed much in 15 years. Have a look at this beast - the ultimate in current following amplifiers:
                        250W into 8 ohm
                        500W into 4 ohm
                        1000W into 2 ohm
                        2000W into 1 ohm
                        Monoblock with 3Kw transformer
And built like nothing you have experienced

Of course if you need more - they are stable into 0.5 Ohm and you can bridge 2 of them for 4 times the power.....

And my local distributer - Arena stills sells them (on consignment!)

                        Geoff

                          Geoff that's impresssive! :E

Okay, they probably need their own electrical sub-station down the street from your house, they probably can drive any speaker ever made to a decibel level that melts the drivers into slag, but . . .

What do they sound like? Inquiring minds want to know. :
