    I`ve finally discovered Sound....

    Hey guys!

I am speaking today as a new man...I thought I knew what nice good sound was...well I didn`t evrything I though I needed and had to have....was wrong ops: ...now I know....

    Here`s what I listened to :

You might be saying...ahhh come on that is ridiculous.....Well he was powering these full range speakers with a tube amp of 25 watts.....The transparency...soundstage and dynamics of these works of art.... was....well like something I`ve NEVER heard. The stage is in 3D..not only could you depict where the instruments were playing from side to side but how deep in the room they were...whether the drums were in back just off center to left and the singer in the middle but up front and the piano was on the left...totally left and forward 8O .........These babies have character...if the song is loose and laid back..that`s how they play..if it is a song that is nervous that`s how they play...

We listened to Patty Barber on XRCD2...classical....Dire Straits...Emerson Lake and Palmer......I could here the smallest of details...the complete difference from one recording to another....

Their cut off was at 60 hz

Then these puppies did the rest at starting at 60hz at 24Db/ octave..

Bass was so transparent....no boom...none...just feeling the songs were effortlessly playing and all you could do was disappear in the song....

Which is what I have done....

So I ordered 2 subs right there and then....

    The man is a genious.

These look quite similar to the Linus Arrays- do you know what driver's are used in the system? This line array type speaker, done right, can be about 90-93 dB efficient.

I'll take 25 watts of high quality vacuum tube power over the majority of solid state amps, any day.

OTOH, I do use solid state, but non-loop feedback type gear, like Ayre Acoustics, or my own designs.

What is your friend using as a disk player? In my experience, the only CD's which rival the XRCD2 disks (of which I have a number) are the CD layers on the better SACD hybrid disks.

So when are you going for the whole system, not just the subs? :B

Having used line arrays for the last 20+ yrs, all I can say is, "What took you so long"?

LA's have several things going for them; one is obviously high efficiency, another is very low distortion, also their dispersion is wonderful.

So any drawbacks? Size and SAF........

Bam, this is what it's all about, it took me a long time to realize just how good a Vacuam tube system can sound. Now that I know theres no turning
