Yesterday Was A Good New-Release Day - What Did You Get?

Yesterday was a pretty big, new release day with the likes of

    633 Squadron
    Dances With Wolves: SE
    Duel At Diablo
    Frasier: Season One
    Miller's Crossing
    Mosquito Squadron
    Sink The Bismarck
    Star Trek: Nemesis
    The Battle Of Britain
    The Blue Max
    The Desert Fox
    The Love Bug
    The Sum Of All Fears
    The Verdict

coming out - among others. Did you make any additions? I'm kinda on enforced DVD-hiatus right now, so I'm living vicariously through you.

Miller's Crossing was at Costco a couple of weeks ago. Is this a new "better" version? They never put anything out before its release date.

What in the world is significant about July 15?

I will have to have Frasier season 1 for sure.

          Hmmm, Lex I'm guessing Burke is gunning for M * A * S * H: Season 4 on the 15th.

            Miller's Crossing
            The Blue Max
            The Desert Fox

These are on my list, as well as Nevada Smith, The Carpetbeggars and Gunfight At The OK Corral, if I ever find them. Looks like a trip to the big city is in order.

              I bought ST: Nemesis today.

              George,

I just rented both Nevada Smith, and Gunfight at the OK Corral last week.

I hadn't seen either movie before. Nevada Smith was a good story, and Steve McQueen did a good job acting, but it was painful in a couple places where it was obvious that the story was written for a boy of 16-18 years old, and McQueen was 36 when he played the role. He could maybe pass for 30, but not a teenager.

I had a similar problem with Peggy Sue Gets Married. Good acting, but 32 yrs old isn't 18.

              OK Corral was just OK

Obviously Douglas and Lancaster have a good raport working together and it shows, but the 50's smarminess leaks in a bit, like in Shane.
And it's certainly not the portrayal that Tombstone is of the story.

Still they were both good rentals. With decent picture and sound quality as well.

              -Dean.

Well, I checked. For some reason, Costco had this out on 5/11 for $13, even though release was supposed to be 5/20. Weird. Now I wish I'd bought it, I thought is was an older, inferior version.

Only Miller's Crossing here. Just watched it and it is even better than I remember it being the first time I saw it some years back.

                    Dean,
Nevada Smith wasn't that great for me, but I collect everything by McQueen. Gunfight is an old favorite of mine. Glad to hear the pic quality is good on these. I picked both up today.

Here's some others I picked up today:

                    THE DEVIL AT 4 O'CLOCK
                    SHENANDOAH
THE CARPETBEGGARS ( The Nevada Smith character originated in this book and film)
                    THE BLUE MAX
                    HEAVEN KNOWS MR. ALLISON

And now I am broke for a few days.

Well, I was bad and broke my self-imposed ban on DVD buying. I picked up Star Trek: Nemesis. Nice DVD! Very good PQ and SQ. YMMV on the story. . . .
