    Whadja Buy?

As I said in another post, it was a stormy weekend here in Houston, so the only good thing to do was go to restaurants, watch movies and buy DVDs. I wandered out of Best Buy with The Patriot, Superbit and Criterion's The Hidden Fortress by Akira Kurosawa.

Did you pick anything up this weekend?

Picked up the 2nd season of Buffy, and another TV series for my daughter. I looked for the Superbit Patriot, but didn't see it where I was shopping.

Oh yeah, got the Farscape Season two volume one two disk set! I'd been waiting for that for a while, Sci Fi buff that I am! It's a little short on the hard Sci, but has great characters and good writing.

See my Wally World post for a couple of cheapies I picked up. I also bought HEIST as a previously viewed title from Blockbuster for $9 bucks. I had rented Heist back when it was first released and liked it so much I wanted to buy it, so really happy to get it so cheap. No scratches either.

John, The One is one title that surprised me. Great fight sequences and a pretty neat story.

I've been putting off renting The One, now I think I'll give it a try.

John, I have several of those titles. You are in for some cool viewing once you find the time after the move.

                    David,

You're right. The fight sequences are as original (and as good) as Bruce Lee's "Enter the Dragon". (I rented "The One" before so I've seen them.)

The story is well written but I must admitt, the opening scene had me saying...what the !@#$%^ is going on here? Fortunatly it gets much better as they explain why he could do what he does.

                    George,

I think you will enjoy this one. It isn't boring by a long shot.

John, by my calculations, you should have gotten 1 more movie. What gives?

Last time out, I bought a beautiful mind to go with the one I already have, haha. Also, Kate and Leapold. Pretty decent flick. Collectors edition of Dirty Dancing for 8.99.

                      That's it!

Not yet, Tex. My list is long because I haven't been watching as many movies as I usually do. Normally I watch 3 to 4 movies a week and lately that's been down to 2. And there's no excuse now, but with the consulting project I am taking on, my viewing time is going to be scarce until the project is completed late August or early September. But THE ONE is definitely on my viewing list.

Okay, I watched THE ONE Saturday night. You guys were right. This is a heckuva good film. Lots of action and a very well done sci-fi story line. Did you notice some of the humor ? Early in the film in Multiverse One, the President of the U.S. is Gore. Later, in Multiverse Two, the President is George W. Bush. I thought that was hilarious.
Good transfer. Good sound. Thanks, fellas. :yeah: Baby !
