The worst dvd transfer I've seen in a long while ( it's MGM UA). And the film itself would have been quite interesting if not for the silly use of animation.
Based on a poem by Tennyson, the story is centered around a British Captain ( David Hemmings) and his disgust for his commanding officers during events of the Crimean War. I've always loved the poem, but I can't say the same about director, Tony Richardson's film, aside from how well it was hailed by the critics after its release in 1958. But the final battle scene is something to behold, and for me was worth the price of the disk. Just wish the transfer had been better.
