    Mulholland Drive

Ok...what the hell happens in this movie?!?! I usually LOVE David Lynch and generally have no problem following bizzare films but this one totally escapes me. Anyone care to attempt to explain it to me?

I really wanted to like it (the 2 lesbian sex scenes helped ) but not being able to figure any of it out left me really perplexed.

Sounds like typical David Lynch fare. I haven't seen it yet, Sili, but I'll respond to this post once I have viewed it. In the meantime, chech out this site. It's supposed to tell you everything you need to know about this quirky film:

            ***********SPOILERS*****************

There are no chapters in this movie, so scene selections are OUT.

            Best movie since Memento

Naomi Watts was hosed severely on Oscar night

Almost the entire movie is a dream about a girl that went to LA and things did not go as planned.

Watch it again knowing its a dream untill looking into the "box"

another unique thing about the DVD is look closely at the front and back of the DVD cases the next time you are at several differant stores, Is it Betty? or is it Diane?

Hmmm...yea, that kind of works for me.

Still, it lacked a certain story element that really justifies that. It certainly works on the "dream" level but it would be nice to have something just a bit more grounded to go with.

You're right about the chapters too. I kept noticing something odd about my DVD display as I watched it. It didn't hit me until you pointed that out. Interesting. I'll go look at the case now...

Check out your copy then check out other copies when you go to purchase other DVDs, things arent always what they seem.

In other words, Lynch was so clever as to have the front cover contain differant pictures of Diane and her "Dream" alter ego (or what she wanted to be after getting to LA) and whatever pic is on one front they will put the "other covers pic" in the small row of pics on the back.

The only reason I noticed was when I returned it to Blockbuster and was looking at other new releases they had like 20 copies and they were all differant

As far as the dream " working" for you or not, its laid out in the first minutes of the film as she is having flash backs of her Jitterbug contest then all the blurring images and then shows her in bed, with the covers over her head , I dont have time right now but will lay it out the way I saw it later
