    Citizen Kane & French Connection

Just a few quick words about these two.
I watched CK last night, and let me say the transfer is stunning! This could easily have been a Criterion job!
While I don't think this is the best movie ever made, it is a good one...in fact, I don't think it's even the best Orson Welles movie (I like the Third Man better)
Anyway the main point here is the transfer is awesome, and the soundtrack is very clean.
I haven't had a chance to watch the second disc, so I can't comment on it.

Tonight I watched the French Connection, again a very good transfer...for the most part.
There is some heavy grain during many very dark scenes, but it really doesn't take away from the presentation. During all other scenes the transfer is very, very good. The soundtrack is a 5.1 remix that is just as it should be. Most of it is front and center, and very clean.
I did have time to look at the Deleted scenes, and Friekin was right, they add nothing to the story, and if left in would have detracted from it.

Two excellent winners, you can't go wrong with these!

I have both these titles and look forward to firing them up.When I picked up French Connection I noticed a box set containing the sequel to The French Connection and since it was only a difference of $8 beyween the two I went with the box set. My recollection of FC2 is that it wasn't near as good as the original, but for $8 what the hey.

That's probably what I should have done, but at the time they only had the 5 star offering.
I've never seen the second one...perhaps in the next month or two you'll give us the run down???
