Selecting Sources on 1055

I'm trying to put the finishing touches on integrating my new RSX 1055 into my HT system and I can't figure something out. How do I select input sources using the remote control? When I push 'tuner' or VCR, the LCD of the remote shows my selection, but, nothing happens at the receiver. If I select it at the unit itself, it works fine. What am I overlooking? Thanks, Bob.

The buttons at the top of the remote are for initiating control of a piece of equipment. The selection of a source is through the buttons under the sliding panel. The "AUD" button at the top must be pressed before changing sources.
