    T2 The Ultimate Edition DVD

I wanted to comment on my impressions of T2, technically. Seems to be a real crowd pleaser, tight palipitating bass, excellent color saturation, a real technical knockout. Now, I haven't caaaaruuuuzed the menu structure fully yet, but seems like a real fun disc(s). I have no idea what is on the second disc yet. Maybe one of the Ken's knows? Oh my, you guys are going to get tired of hearing that, huh? rofl.

Enjoyed the DVD greatly, nice packaging with an extra book I haven't even cracked open yet, but I will.

I guess this post shows that there will be crossover topics between DVD Director and DVD Tech. For me, T2 is such old news as a story, it's more of a technical issue with the new DTS audio and such. That's why I chose to put it here.

Perhaps this may get alittle confusing, I was about to post about this disc in that "other" DVD section!
I got this disc about 4 weeks ago and had a chance to compare this new Artisan S.E. to the old Live transfer...I gotta say, I couldn't tell the difference between the old and the new transfers...BUT! the DTS soundtrack blew the old 5.1 track off the disc, very nice.
The upgrade in sound makes it worth a rebuy.
I also have not had the time to check out the second disc. Truth be known, the only supplements I care about are deleted scenes and alternate endings or beginnings.

2nd disc? My copy of T2: Ultimate Edition only consists of one disc. Am I missing something or do you have a "pre-production" version?

Sili, my T2 UE has a unique case, that I haven't seen before. It has a flip panel inside with 1 disc on it, and the other behind it on the back of the case. Check your's out Sili, I but you just didn't see it the first time.

There are two versions of the same disc out there. Due to demand, it wasn't possible to make all the DVD-18s (single). So to speed up production, they introduced the 2-disc edition.

Actually I said "second disc", but I should have said "the flip side" h: my mistake.
Now that the 2 disc version has come out, I'd rather have it, this DVD-18 makes me nervous. Four layers just seem like problems waiting to happen.

I'm with KennyG. This was worth the rebuy. The DTS-ES really makes my dipoles sing. The sound makes me believe it truly comes from behind me and I don't have an ES receiver.

What is really scary is the techs have only scratched the suface of what 5.1 can do and they are already doing this well with it's matrixed sound.

Definitely Kenny, dual layer were the downfall of my S7000 Sony for DVD playback. Also, have had them freeze on my Toshiba, which I really should send back for service. Soon maybe.

                  4 layers? Ahhhchiwa wa!

Maybe I am just lucky. I have yet to have any disc freeze in my Tosh 1200. T2 DV18, Abyss, Matrix. I can't say the same of my DVL-700.

Ditto for me John on my Tosh 1200. No problems whatsoever.

                        Greg,
Maybe this isn't a software issue! It appears that the mid-fi to hi-fi models have problems with these disc. For an entry level player to be flawless in comparison is scary to say the least.

John, good point. And until I have problems, I will not even look at the higher end models because mine has provided nothing but stable, solid performance. And T2 UE is one of my favorites still, can't seem to get through all the extras!
