    Bruce Campbell

Anyone who checks this out is either curious about the first post in this section...or enjoys the Evil Dead/ Army of Darness movies.
I just finished watching the new Evil Dead II S.E. from Archor Bay!!!
This "fun" little tale is now even better!!! why you ask?
It now has a 5.1 sound track that is as sick and twisted as the rest of this classic. This soundtrack literally breaths a whole new-Dead, life into this fine peace of cinema history
The transfer is darker without losing detail, in fact the detail is better, I'm not sure if I like this darker look better or not, time will tell.

    Hi Kenny

    Welcome aboard!

Yeah, welcome aboard Kenny! Thomas, things just haven't been to boring on HTGuide this weekend have they? Yeah, posting is a little light, or is that a little "lite", lol. But we are growing, ever so slowly, we are refining, ever so slowly, and like a fine wine, just gets better with age. Ok, well to a point, lol.

I have no idea about this movie Kenny speaks of, and that's precisely why he is the right man for this job! :B

My head is splitting, but I just got to school you on this movie.
This is the second in the Evil Dead trilogy, the first being "Evil Dead", which is very minimalistic, and I don't care much for it.
Evil Dead II is more polished, and I think Campbell is funnier, and it veiws more like a play than a movie.
The third, and my favorite is "Army of Darkness".
If you like a good scare, pretty of laughs, by a movie that knows when to laugh, lots of gore. (but not to graphic)
These two are truely great horror comedies...and you'll find out I don't use the word "great" that often.
I'd say mid teens and above.

Thanks for the description Kenny. Horror is not on my list of favorites, but I do enjoy a good comedy. As far as putting the two together, it would take a special movie to interest me.

I will keep it in mind.

Strangely enough, Horror's not really my thing either, out of over 350 discs, only 25 are of that gene, and I'm counting the old universal classics, Sleepy Hollow, Aliens, stuff that might not even be considered Horror, so I'm very picky in the Horror flicks that I own.
I'd say if your interested in a truely fun Horror flick, try "Army of Darkness", I think you'll be surprised.
I've got a spare, unopen copy of the 2 Disc S.E. that I might give away at a later date!

I wouldn't let a general aversion to the horror genre dissuade anyone from seeing "Army of Darkness". It's too funny to be scary. It's been awhile since I've seen it, but my recollection is that it's more of a comedy that just happens to use the Evil Dead horror films as a very loose prequel. And of course Bruce Campbell returns to star.

Will, very right on!!!...except for one thing, Army of Darkness (AOD) takes off exactly where Evil Dead II ends, the last scene of EDII is the first scene of AOD.

P.S. Keep your eye on this area, in a couple months, when the membership grows alittle I'm going to have a contest for those who frequent the DVD director area. I'll be giving away the double disc...out of print...Limited addition...with 15 min of extra footage, ARMY OF DARKNESS!!!!!!!!!
You'll have to answer 5 question though.

I have been a fan of II since seeing it at the local (old) theater during a midnight showing on a HUGE screen with some of my buddies. We laughed our a$$es off! The second and third are some of the best casual watching / entertainment horror movies done yet. These are the type of movies that you sit down, grab a beer and ENJOY.
For anyone who hasn't seen them, DO IT. If you don't like horror, they are comedies, if you don't like comedies, treat them like horror movies. Forget about continuity, perfection, or "artistic statement" these movies look like the people involved really enjoyed making them and had a lot of fun.
With about a billion different versions out there, you can usually find at least one on sale or just dirt cheap.

                    Have fun with these movies
