    Stryke HE15

Thomas - or anyone else, have you started building you enclosure for the HE15 and p.r.'s. Do you know when they will be shipped. What amp's are you going to use. Thanks

    Hi Ken

The order probably won't be shipped from TC-Sounds to Stryke until sometime mid to late January. Then a week or so for John J. to ship drivers to the individuals.

I've played with a couple of box designs. I just bought LspCAD Pro, and used the HE-15 as my excuse to learn the program. There are several people sort of "co-designing" a maximium performance box. But so far nothing is set.

I have 4 Adcom 565 monoblocks. These were orphaned when I bought the 2-Aragon 8008BBs. So I'll try these first. If 350watts@ 8ohms isn't sufficient. Then I bite the bullet and get a big Crown.

Well, I have good news on the HE15 woofer status. The drivers are made, and were scheduled to be picked up from TC Sounds on Friday. This means that I should have them either this coming Friday, or on January 2. They should ship out to everyone between Jan 2 and Jan 5. It will take me a few days to package all the subwoofers and ship them.

There is one thing that I should note. The original woofer was planned to be made with 3 3/4" thick magnets. This gives 2.25" magnet depth. However TC was very short on 3/4" thick magnets. Therefore the new design has 2 1" magnets and 1 3/4" magnet for 2.75" total magnet thickness. This should not give any significant change in parameters as changing the thickness of the magnets gives a very small difference in motor strength. It does however mean that there are no rubber boots that fit over the motor assembly. This is purely a cosmetic issue, and when the drivers are mounted in an enclosure anyway makes no difference. Just thought I'd give an update.

      John

Should be interesting projects to see develop. Thanks for the update John.

With the extra 1/2" of magnets, does this make the motor stronger, louder, etc. When are they shipping to us. Thanks.

Depending on the gauss strength of the magnets, the BL product will be raised slightly. Other than that there shouldn't be any significant changes in the T/S parameters

BTW, I going to build 2 different single driver boxes, 1 will be approx 24" cube internal dimensions. The other will be a cube as small as possible, so something 20" or so external dimension. Both will be prototypes. I'm curious how small the box can be shrunk and still have good output to 20Hz. And how much increasing the size over the 22" cube, will impact the infrasonic performance.
