    Loudspeaker Grinch strikes......

Unfortunately several things have conspired to bring Jon and my DIY projects to a temporary halt.

First we lost the sever that was hosting all the images we were using in the various threads. So when time allows we'll hire a new service and reload the images.

Second I blew out my left ACL (aka knee). Since the shop is in the basement, it's more than a little problematic to get down the stairs and or run the big power tools with a gait like that of 'Chester' from the old GunSmoke TV show.
    Mr Dillion, Mr Dillion...........

Last but certainly not least, Jon lost the use of the space he was using for his woodshop. As a result he's had to suspend major power tool operations and is pretty limited by postage stamp sized balcony of his apt.

So give us some time and we'll get stuff up and running ASAP....

Limp, limp, limp, limp............... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Thomas, oh man, I'm sorry 'bout the ACL. I hope it was a "manly" injury - playing nude rugby with some of Hef's Bunnies or the like. . . . Seriously though, I hope your surgery and rehab go well.

Jon, also sorry to hear about the loss of the shop space. That's pretty sucky. Jobs? Let's not even go there. :?

Guys, your knowledge/expertise are invaluable regardless of whether you are making sawdust or not. As cornerstones (oh excuse me, Poobahs) of this forum, I'm wondering if there's some space in The Gallery you can use? Whatcha think Lex 'n Mats?

I have a plan to deal with the hosting issue, and actually upgrade our capabilities, but it will be two or three weeks before I can implment it- combination of logistical issues and business travel.

I'm out the rest of this week, and most of the next week, plus three weeks in November... I'll be more familiar with what the safety cards say than what my home looks like.

Living La Vida Loco, but not in the sense of what the song meant...

Bummer, guys. I think it's definitely a conspiracy. I saw the rep from Wilson Audio whispering with a swarthy looking guy named Vinnie but I didn't think anything about it at the time.

                Heal fast, Thomas!

Chester, I'm sorry to hear about the knee. Miss Kitty can make it feel better over at the Longbranch Saloon. Us older guys need to be careful. And for Jon, I hope his girlfriend didn't kick him out of her garage space ops: Yes, it's probably speaker manufacturers up to nefarious deeds in the background.

The solution, as usual, is to move to Texas:
                  1. You can afford a house here and you will not need a basement.
                  2. Jon can get a job that doesn't require 100 hours a week - he can have a life!
                  3. We'll have "Bubba" around to be on the lookout for anyone resembling a speaker manufacturer employee.
                  Just do it.

Yessir Hank, how many times have we told 'em? Come to Texas. :B

Some of us were blessed enough to be born here and some are blessed enough to figure out they should be here, and then there's some. . . . :

Although being called Bubba kinda hurts.

I appreciate the invite but my house in Denver is paid for......... 8O

So I just need an elevator!

Hummm let's see Harbor Freight 880lb AC powered winch, 4-20ft lengths of BIG angle iron, a few rollerblade wheels, a Sawzall and........

Yeap that should do it :B

                        Andrew

No surgery yet, just a monsterous knee immobilizing splint with 6 huge Velcro straps.....Kaiser thinks it's going to heal itself, LOL.
When I fall flat on my face stepping up to the exam table at the next office visit they'll send me for an ortho consult.

                        Everyone,

Thanks we appreciate the offers for hosting. We have servers available but just were taken by surprise when the service we were using pulled the plug with no prior notice. Now the issue is locating where we have the files archived.....

Thomas, rather than investing in a DIY elevator  just sell the house, take the sacks of money, come here and buy a house. Simple. Hmmm...DIY elevators...hmmm...a new forum topic? :yeah:

Hey! finally some good news we were able to access the hosting servers and once again have access to the image files. arty:

We've updated some of the more current threads/posts. But if you're looking for something specific and there's still the boxed red X instead of a pic do the following.

Right click on the pic and choose 'properities'.

If it's in a post by Jon change the URL of the link from

                            http://server2045.virtualave.net/ttriff/"name of file"

                            to

                            http://audioworx.virtualave.net/'name of the file'

If it's in a post by me

                            http://server2045.virtualave.net/ThomasW/"name of file"

                            change the URL to

                            http://kloneaudio.virtualave.net/"name of the file"

Paste this 'new' URL to a browser window and the pic will load.

We'll update the most recent and most popular posts. But as one can imagine, trying to change the all URLs in all the posts, in all the threads, is a bit of a daunting task......

Hey guys, sorry to hear about your speaker building woes. Lemme know where this "Loudspeaker Grinch" lives and maybe I'll go over to his place and have a little talk with him. You guys are welcome to come along when I try and talk some sense into this guy.

Seriously though, get better Thomas and stop working so hard Jon. I enjoy following the progress of all your projects.

Just back from another week of businesss travel, inlcuding one day of migraine/food poisoning (not sure which, due to mixed symptoms).

Ah, the joys of the life of a technical professional- got home from Boston last night about 1AM.

Just getting my Krups espresso machine to cooperate a bit with me, and should be drinking an "energizing latte" any minute now- there's some Usher crossovers around here to finish, you know!
