    Mcintosh MX120

I am reading the mx120 is two channel. I am not sure what this fully means so am needing some education. Will the McIntosh MX120 it work for HT as well as music?

    I would have the following:

    802D fronts
    HTM2 center
    ASW855 sub
    685 rears

    Rotel 1095 amp
    Rotel 1080 amp
Denon 3808 which I believe goes away

I have a Playstation, CD player, Direct TV DVR, Ipod, turntable as sources..

    Thanks for your help,

    wildmda,

I have the MX120. It has a discrete 2 channel section, which is quite excellent. And it most definitely does has HT processing. Both elements are executed with superb results. I'm primarily HT, but found myself listening to more two channel after getting the MX120.

Look online at mcintoshlabs.com and see the back of the MX120. You'll see all the connections for both 2 channel and HT, including balanced outputs for the front three channels.

    Hope this helps.

I have an MX-135, just perfect, as well for 2 channel as for HT

          wildmda,

The MX-135 is the predecessor to the current MX-136 (which added HDMI+scaler as the main update vs the 135). The 136 is the big brother to the MX 120. The main differences between the 120 and the 136 are that the 136 had 5 balanced outputs and it has more inputs and outputs. The 2 channel and HT capabilities are the same. I looked into these two when I was shopping for the pre-amp.

I have nearly identical sources as you do (DirecTv DVR, Blu Ray player, Xbox, Phono and a Tuner). The 120 works very well with all of them.

          Hope this helps.
