    Interesting design for DIY?

Nice design for cloning maybe? I saw these while out on the web.

Lex, you know what? I'm interested. No, I can't...my sights are on a fine line source, either RD's or NEO's. I can't stray from the course...I should order drivers soon so I'll be monetarily committed...hmmm...those top cabs are intriguing...look at that ribbon placement...uhh...does anyone have any listening review feedback?

Nice cabinet work. Looks like ESG ribbons, Focal Kevlar mid, probably Peerless CSX series woofers.

Could be quite nice, the tricky part would be the crossover to the mid from the ribbon, making it low enough to stay out of the resonsnaces of the Focal Kevlar driver. It has some resoances you can see in the impedance curve as well as a glitch in the frequency response at 1500 Hz. Nice system concept, but I'd use the Seas Excel 7" driver instead... YMMV! :35:

Ok, to the details, this guy that owns these, says:

This pair started out as Quintessence "Studio's" but has since been extensively modified.
        1. Original Focal inverted titanium tweeter was changed to Esg3 ribbon, crossed via brand new passive crossover at 2.5kHz.

        2. Original Focal kevlar midbass unit changed out for Focal 7K2 midrange unit.

        3. Two Dynaudio 21W54 woofers per side have been replaced with new ones, crossed over at 140 Hz via Bryston active crossover.

The front baffle features 3 inch thick! baffles and the thing weights a ton. It sounds fantastic, though!

He also said these were a proto-type the company built, but never used this as a production model. they went with a unified cabinet in the end. Don't know how he was the one that got these.
