    Wave "lengths"?

    Hi again, sonic poobahs! ;x(

How do you calculate the length of a sound wave for a given frequency? I keep seeing articles, posts, etc. that go something like "a xx Hz tone has a length of 21 ft". I'd like to know how this is determined.

Or, the easy way, is there a chart?

    David,

This is really a common sense thing, just think about it.......

A 'wave-length' is directly proportional to the number of people in the stadium, multiplied by how high they're sitting in the stands, multiplied by their blood alcohol level.

Oh! wait you're talking about soundwaves, click HERE for DIY, click HERE for the chart :B

...and how many people in a given row are painted head-to-toe in thier team's colors - tends to slow down propogation time.

I'm supposed to have the DIY sense of humor. Thomas, you're one of the wise gurus who should maintain a sense of scholarly decorum about yourself.

David, I've always liked the sound of the word "poobah". Don't you think J&T should have "Grand Poobah of DIY" under their names? "Moderator" is so mundane. Every forum has moderators.

Thomas, thanks sir! Boy, ask an either/or question and get both answers. Now THAT'S a response!

Hank, "Grand Poobah of DIY" works for me. :B Although it might be a little wordy to put on a business card. . .

Methinks I've uncovered a deep, latent need for self-agrandizement. Maybe we can get Grand Poobah Thomas some help. Wait a minute, that's the business he's in!
As Dustin Hoffman said in Rain Man: "Uh-oh!"

BTW, I've reserved "El Supremo" for myself since I frequent the Caribbean and smoke an occasional cigar. I'm the unofficial cultural ambassador of the Banana Republic.
