Welcome to Canada Thomas, Vancouver Island is a great place to see. It's like time has sort of left that place alone. If you get a chance head on up to Tofino, very nice place on the mid west side of the Island. Also Banfield is a nice cosy inland port.

I also recommend a trip to the west coast of the Island. My wife and I go there occasionally, we were there last week. Long beach/Tofino area are beautiful.
