    V1.45 Firmware

    Hi,

    I just got V1.45 of the firmware. It fixes the User default bug. I haven't tested it yet. I plan to do so on the weekend.

    John,

    Would you care to reveal your source?

    Thanks

      Dre I got mine directly from Rotel and was told its a public release so I made it available on my web site under the Rotel menu option. For those interested I was also told that since the 1055 and 1066 are the same this firmware and subsequent ones will work for both models.

        Andrew,

        Thanks for posting the update.

        Do you know if they fixed the Yes/Max issue with the bass management? What about the forced Max mode for the subwoofer on the multi-channel inputs?

            I got this from Rotel along with the software version 1.45:

            I forwarded your information over to our engineering team regarding this problem, and it looks like this time around they were able to recreate the problem there and resolve it. They sent me a new software update today that seems to have fixed the problem on our setup, give it a shot and let me know if this clears up the distortion on your processor.
            I'll be doing some testing this weekend, and I'll post my results.

            Hey, Andrew. Any chance you could use some of your clout and get us some release notes for the software releases...and some more information on the next "major" software release?

              I keep asking for release info but non of the people I'm in contact with get that info either so we're all in the dark as to what these updates fix. I do agree that needs to be addressed somehow though.

                All,

                I got my release by emailing Rotel directly using the address listed on http://www.rotel.com/Techups/32-techup.htm.

                Cheers

                John

                  So far, it looks like the 1.45 version of the software has fixed the distortion / SPL issue I've been bitchin' about for the past 3 months.

                  I guess the squeeky wheel gets the oil.

                  Thanks Rotel!!!

                    I've encountered two strange problems since updating to 1.45. Prior to this I was running 1.37 I believe.

                    If I put in a DVD, select DTS from the audio setup menu and then skip forward a chapter or two into the movie (rather than allowing to to play normally) I get NO audio. I have the press the audio button on my DVD player to cycle thru the audio tracks. When I come back around to the DTS track again the audio is restored. This happened on both Shrek and The Fifth Element.

                    The second odd problem; I was watching The Fifth Element and all of my speaker were set to small. When I switched the fronts to large I lost audio from the fronts. The center still continued to produce sound but the front L&R's went dead. I haven’t had the chance yet to try a variety of scenarios to see under what conditions this does or doesn’t occur.

                    Anyone else seeing any problems with 1.45?

                        Andrew,

                        Does the standard Cisco console cable work?

                          No, It doesn't.

                          But it makes a good cable to use to make the Rotel cable.

                          I did just that.

                              Wanderso,

                              I'm so far away from being the person to answer your question, but Andrew had a thread on "how to upgrade your 1066" or something to that effect where I think he explains how to build your own cable for upgrading. Search back in the last month and I'm pretty sure you'll have no problem finding it.

                                You will need to take the Cisco cable apart at the DB9 connection. Once you have done this, you will need to cut the wires that go into the DB9 housing. Make sure you leave enough wire to strip and solder new connections to them. You will need an Ohmmeter or continuity checker to verify the connections once done.

                                Connections:

                                RJ-45 -> DB9
                                (TXD) 3 -> 2 (RXD)
                                (RXD) 5 -> 3 (TXD)
                                (GND) 4 & 6 -> 5 (GND)

                                Please checkout Andrew's Post if you are confused here:
