I just talked with Tim Wyatt form Rotel about some of the issues we've raised today and got some answers that might interest you folks.
First they are very appreciative of our feedback to them so please keep it coming and please add any requests you have in the "wish list" thread so its all in one place.
Ok according to Tim the Rotel 1066 currently does have a double bass problem in that the 6.1 inputs does have bass management turned on so if you say that you have small speakers then the LFE channel will be active and thus will get a signal. Unfortunatly the mains will also get a full range signal regardless of you setting them to small. The work around for this is to set the LFE level to its lowest level in the menu for that input..not great but they're aware of the problem.
We spoke briefly about the 10 mhz component inputs and they claim they'd had clients use them for HDTV w/o loss but I'm skeptical at best on this one...again they are aware of the problem and maybe it will be addressed in the 1066's big brother that was hinted at before.
With regard to requesting information on what's being updated in the firmwares Tim said that as of yet these have only been to address minor tweaks and there isn't any documention on them yet. They are working on a software package to replace HyperTerminal so that should be available by the time they release the real firmware upgrade (no idea on time frame for this) I know a little about VB and started to look at what it would take to program my own app so if any VB coder out there wants to lend a hand please let me know.
