    What CD player with AV32R?

I am awaiting delivery of my AV32R, which should be here anyday. Can't wait. I was initially considering using the Sony ES9000 for CD and DVD play, but it turns out that I might not need a progressive DVD player with the projector I am considering. So, now I am thinking about using a fairly inexpensive interlaced player, along with a separate CD player.

Does anyone (especially Buzz) have a recomendation for a separate CD player that would match well with the AV32R. I'd love to get the Tag unit, of course, but I think it's out of my price range. Also, I assume that since the DAC's in the AV32R are so good and it does not have an analog pass through, I would not have a need for an expensive CD player that has really good DAC's. On the other hand, it seems that a better quality player would deal with issues like jitter, etc. better than a cheaper player. I am looking the range of $700 to $1200. Any suggestions?

    Sorry, Phil.
I've been spoilt by the capabilities of the Sync Link; nothing else sound all that hot to me anymore. And I'm afraid that will set you abck some more serious cake.
I have been playing around with a Toshiba SD-2300 (a NUON based DVD machine) which I don't hate.
But I haven't had much of a chnace to audition other CD transports.

Buzz, I am now looking at the Sony SCD-777ES, which seems to have a pretty large following as a high quality CD transport. The original list was $3500, but it can be had now for about $1500. Wish I could afford the Tag CD or DVD/CD unit, but with everything else I'm needing (projector, screen, etc.), it's just not in the budget. That's life, I guess. Always a series of choices.

From what I have heard, I'd go with a cheap DVD player for now (like the Toshiba SD-2300) and save up for a real transport. It's not like you'll not have enough new toys now ...

Buzz, you can never have enough new toys! Seriously, is your last post a reflection of your opinion of the Sony 777ES, or merely a recommendation that the Tag is worth saving up for? If the former, I'd really like to know your thoughts.

In my limited experience with the DVD32R, I am still in a bit of shock out just how much of an improvement the thing is as a CD transport (I used it with the AV32R-EX, using the processors as a two channel DAC/preamp.
The fact that it also plays those DVD thingees is simply a bonus to me...
