Yeah so, I've decided to buy an AV32R!

I have to say, after following the AVR32R for a good while now I have yet to come across a single review, or spec sheet of what this thing can do that has left me un-impressed.

Now, I can't afford one at retail, but am looking into geting one ex-demo. Made a few enquiries and will hopefully have some answers tomorrow about what version is available to me. I am guessing it's the standard 5.1 version that'd require upgrading, but since I dont have the space for the extra speakers yet, or the extra cash for more cables and additional amps to power ES/EX, that'd be ok with me. What I love about this thing is whatever new format comes will be there waiting for me. Great stuff...

Love the fact we got a specific forum for TAG here too, hehe. I shall update on my progress...

    Daniel,

You're gonna love it. I got mine yesterday. I fell in love with the sound almost immediately. Dynamics, fidelity, ease of use, and as sharp looking as an F1 race car ...well almost; it's got it all.

Yeah, don't you just love that display. Clean, bright (dimmable) and easy to read.
Anyhow, John glad to see you hear. Please feel free to ask some questions here to, I find that the lurkers benefit from the Q&A a great deal.
And it's always fun to live vicariously through someones audio adventure...

Ah...well, that comes with the additional options package from what I hear; rather expensive, but in addition to the coffee making feature, to serve it to you you'll get weekly visits for a year by every beautiful model that was ever featured in a photo shot with the Tag F1 race cars Very popular package deal that one, limited supplies too.

I found an ex-demo one at a retailers up in Scotland who are asking £1650 ($2413) with a 2 year warrenty and it's apparently had the latest upgrades. That's absolutely PERFECT for me, but I need to call back next week and beg them to try and keep it in my name for a month until I can provide the appopriate funds for purchase...

For a while, whatever the case of how I get one, it'll probably be powered by the 5 channel inputs on my Pioneer amp, until I find a suitable buyer for that and can afford to buy a dedicated power amp with its sale funds.

This leads me to a question to Buzz, and any TAG owners out there. I can't afford a seriously high end super expensive power amp. I can only afford to power 5 channels right now, so extra power EX/ES is out of the question for the time being. I am wondering if anyone knows how well Rotel power amps compliment the TAG?

Specifically, I am looking at Rotel's RB 985 THX certified 5 channel amp.

Danial, the Rotel is a good amp. I am not sure it's the best mate for the AVR-32, but it's decent power. I would like to see you mate it with something more formidable in the long run such as an AMP5, Dreadnaught, Aragon, Bryston. Rotel I feel is in the same class as Parasound. Good amps, but not as transparent or detailed as most the amps mentioned above, if not all.

              My 2 cents.

While there is some interaction, with well designed electronics, there is not that much to be concerned about matching preamps and power amps, compared to matching amp to speakers. Decide with 90% of the emphasis on that interface and likely the Av32R will not have a probaly with any well designed amp.

IT'S MINE, or rather, it's kind of mine. They've agreed to hold it for me for a month and accept a deposit until then. Unfortunately it appears to be the 5.1 version after all, but I can't afford to buy into EX/ES yet anyway. I will need to send it to Mclaren to be fitted with the AC3 input at somepoint too and think I may do that at the same time as having it fitted with the latest upgrade. We'll see, I don't know how much all that costs.

                    Still, 'tis looking good.

                      Update 2 --

£160 for the AC-3 RF fitting, and I can have TAG pick up the machine and make the alteration. Great, that's not soo bad, and a good price excuse to keep on playing those Star Wars laserdiscs. I am guessing I can at least play my DTS LD catalogue to begin with.

                        Latest news --

Looking like I will have an AV32R in my hands by the end of next week. Dare I plug it in immediately? I'll be trying to force myself not to, and will in fact be sending it to basecamp for the RF fitting and I think the DPL II upgrade at the earliest advantage I get given.

I'm pretty much set on the Rotel 985mkII power amp. 110w per channel. I hear it compliments the TAG well, and it certainly looks to be a good match for my KEF speakers.

Just need to sort myself on some decent cables for the TAG and boom, I'm away!

You MUST start using it right away. You will love it, and then wait a month or two before you get the upgrades. Because it wil be like getting another new machine. Two audio orgasms for not much more then the price of one.
